Quantum theory is expected to govern the electromagnetic properties of a quantum metamaterial, an artificially fabricated medium composed of many quantum objects acting as artificial atoms. ...Propagation of electromagnetic waves through such a medium is accompanied by excitations of intrinsic quantum transitions within individual meta-atoms and modes corresponding to the interactions between them. Here we demonstrate an experiment in which an array of double-loop type superconducting flux qubits is embedded into a microwave transmission line. We observe that in a broad frequency range the transmission coefficient through the metamaterial periodically depends on externally applied magnetic field. Field-controlled switching of the ground state of the meta-atoms induces a large suppression of the transmission. Moreover, the excitation of meta-atoms in the array leads to a large resonant enhancement of the transmission. We anticipate possible applications of the observed frequency-tunable transparency in superconducting quantum networks.
Arrays of transmon qubits coupled to a λ/2 superconducting coplanar waveguide resonator have been studied by microwave spectroscopy. The emergence of a collective mode has been discovered for a ...cluster of
N
> 5 qubits, whose coupling constant to the electromagnetic field in the resonator is √N times greater compared to a single qubit. In addition, the emergence of collective multiphoton transitions exciting higher levels of a qubit cluster has been demonstrated and the interaction of an individual qubit with such a cluster has been investigated.
Hepatic hemangiomas are the most common benign liver tumors, which in most cases are small in size and do not require specific treatment. Giant hepatic hemangiomas are a rare pathology. The purpose ...of this report is to demonstrate the case of combined treatment of giant hepatic hemangioma.
A man of the Caucasian race, 37 years old, appealed to the clinic with a complaint about the presence of palpable abdominal mass. During the examination a giant cavernous hemangioma of the left lobe of the liver with a vertical size of up to 210 mm was discovered. Endovascular transarterial embolization (ETE) of tumor-feeding hepatic artery followed by radical surgery on mass removal is performed.
Giant hemangiomas often cause compression of nearby structures and cause symptoms such as pain, abdominal discomfort, nausea, early food saturation, etc. Cases of spontaneous rupture of cavernous hemangioma, including fatal outcome, are also described. We suggest that some patients should go through surgical treatment even if they do not have any complaint.
Our experience shows that endovascular embolization of the hepatic arteries can be effectively applied as a pre-surgical preparation method in order to reduce hemangioma size and blood loss volume during surgical intervention.
•Endovascular embolization of the hepatic arteries is effective preoperative method.•An interval between the performance of ETE and hepatic resection remains unresolved.•In case of rupture of giant hemangioma the probability of fatality is 70%.
Formation of the microstructure and properties of pipe steel grade K60 (X70) are studied using physical modeling of thermomechanical processing in a DUO 300 laboratory mill and industrial experiment. ...Steel microstructure is investigated and temperature ranges for formation of various phases and structural components (ferrite, bainite, martensite, M/A-component) with accelerated cooling are determined. It is found that formation of martensitic regions and M/A-component as secondary structural constituents in a ferrite matrix instead of cementite-containing secondary structures facilitates an increase in steel strength and improvement of the σ

The chemical composition of steel grade K60 (X70) is developed on the basis of laboratory and industrial experiments, as well as a new industrial process for producing rolled product for pipes for the Sila Sibiri gas pipeline sections crossing active tectonic disturbance zones. Introduction. One of the complications of the clinical course of cerebral palsy in children is external torsion of the tibia. The issue of localization and the mechanism of its formation, as well as ...effective methods of its elimination, is debatable. Purpose - to study the mechanisms of the formation of pathological external torsion of the tibia in children with cerebral palsy, its effect on knee joint contracture and foot deformity, and effective methods of their correction. Materials and methods. The data obtained during the observation of 45 patients (90 cases) aged from 6 to 16 years with spastic diplegia, spastic tetraparesis and foot pronation were analyzed. To study the mechanisms of formation of external torsion of the lower leg and its correction, 2 groups of patients were selected. The Group I - 24 patients with internal rotation contractures of the hip joint (10 patients with internal rotation contractures of the hip joint; 10 patients - in combination with pathological antetorsion of the femoral neck; 4 patients - in combination with flexion contractures of the knee joints). The relationship between internal rotation contracture of the hip joint and external torsion of the tibia. The Group II consisted of 21 patients who were diagnosed with flexion contracture of the knee joints in combination with external torsion of the tibia. In order to study the effectiveness of operative treatment of knee flexion contracture and external torsion of the tibia in the Group II, 2 subgroups were distinguished: the subgroup IIA - 9 patients who underwent osteotomy of the tibial bone; the subgroup IIB - 12 patients who only underwent biceps femoris transposition. Results. Based on the study of clinical and radiological indicators, it was established that pathological torsion of the tibial bone is combined with flexion contracture of the knee joints. Proximal derotational osteotomy of the tibia has a positive effect on the results of correction of knee flexion contracture and foot position. Conclusions. The main reason for the formation of external torsion of the tibia is the imbalance of the flexor muscles of the knee joint and the supinator and pronator muscles of the foot. Proximal tibial derotation osteotomy eliminates not only pathological torsion, but also flexion contracture of the knee joints and excessive pronation of the foot. The study was conducted in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. The study protocol was approved by the local ethics committees of all institutions participating in the study. Informed consent of the patients was obtained for the research. No conflict of interests was declared by the authors.
The synthesis and investigation of a new bioconjugate for the targeted therapy of breast cancer is carried out. The ZHER2 scaffold polypeptide specific for the extracellular domain epitope of the ...HER2 transmembrane receptor, which is conjugated to a carrier molecule of human serum albumin (HSA) with the DOTA chelating agent attached to it, is used as the targeting agent. The radiolabeling reaction of the ZHER2–HSA–DOTA molecule is carried out with the 177Lu radionuclide, as well as with 212Pb, obtained using the developed laboratory generator. The radiochemical purity of the 177Lu-labeled preparation was 57 ± 10%, and that of the 212Pb-labeled preparation was 72 ± 5%. The degree of dissociative stability of these compounds was 73 ± 8% for 177Lu and more than 90% for 212Pb. In vitro tests of the cytotoxic activity of the obtained targeted radioactive compounds 177LuZHER2–HSA–DOTA and 212PbZHER2–HSA–DOTA in tumor-cell lines show a significant level of proliferation inhibition of the proliferation of human breast-cancer cells SK-BR-3 and BT474 with overexpression of the HER2/neu tumor marker in contrast to MCF-7 breast ductal adenocarcinoma cells with a low level of HER2/neu expression.
