Violence in an intimate partnership is a form of domestic violence where physical or psychological acts of violence are committed by a partner or spouse against another partner or spouse, and other ...family members may be victims as well. Its prevalence is worrisome and is not limited to any specific circumstances. It also occurs in Christian families, and research data show that the rate of intimate partner violence in Christian families is no higher or lower compared to the general incidence. That being said, religiosity combined with other factors may contribute to the vulnerability of the victim or the power of the perpetrator. On the other hand, religious values and aspects provide protection and support in preventing violence in Christian families and recovering after violence has occurred. We analysed 18 different studies on intimate partner violence in Christian families using the systematic literature review method, and in this paper, we present findings that indicate which aspects of Christian tradition and practice, in combination with other factors, provide protection and support in preventing violence and helping to recover from it for women who are the victims of violence by their intimate partners.
Empatija je pomembna medosebna sposobnost, ki omogoča posamezniku, da se postavi v psihološki okvir doživljanja druge osebe. S tem postane to, kar druga oseba čuti in misli, ter način, kako druga ...oseba deluje, v določeni meri razumljivo in predvidljivo. Kot taka ima empatija v današnjem spreminjajočem se in velikokrat razosebljenem svetu velik pomen, saj gre za sposobnost, ki lahko ponovno prebudi občutek povezanosti z drugimi. V prispevku bomo predstavili empatijo in njen pomen. Opozorili bomo na kritične trenutke, kjer lahko pride do blokad v razvoju sposobnosti empatije, ter prikazali psihoterapijo kot možnost za spodbujanje empatije v odraslosti.

Introduction: Emotional factors are often specified as playing an important role in the context of problematic alcohol use and alcohol addiction. Aims: This study focused on examining the ...relationship between difficulties in emotion regulation, perceived personal problems, and problematic alcohol use. Methods: 374 participants from the general population in Slovenia and Croatia (34.8% men, 65.2% women) with an average age of 44.28 years (range: 26 to 74 years) completed the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), Individual Problems and Strengths Scale (IPS) and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale--Short Form (DERS-SF). Results: A higher level of problematic alcohol use positively correlated with difficulties in emotion regulation and the assessment of individual problems (p less than or equal to .010). Multiple linear regression analysis demonstrated that higher AUDIT scores were positively associated with two dimensions of difficulties in emotion regulation: impulse control difficulties (beta = 0.22, p = .008) and lack of emotional awareness (beta = 0.15, p = .010). Difficulties in emotion regulation completely mediated the effect of individual problems on problematic alcohol use (indirect effect: 0.18, CI -.06, -.31; p < .001): higher levels of individual problems contribute to higher levels of problematic alcohol use through the effect of difficulties in emotion regulation. Conclusions: The findings indicate the vulnerability of individuals with difficulties in emotion regulation to problematic alcohol use. Difficulties in emotion regulation are an important factor to consider for understanding the development, maintenance, and treatment of alcoholism and problematic alcohol use. Intimate partner violence against women is a global public health and criminal justice problem that has enormous consequences for the health and wellbeing of millions of women all over the world. It ...is a form of domestic violence where, in an intimate relationship, physical or psychological acts of violence are perpetrated by a partner or spouse against the other partner or spouse. The purpose of the article is to present the dynamic of violence in an intimate couple relationship with the focus on the victim’s (woman’s) lost dignity. Getting the lost dignity back is the key factor in establishing healthy boundaries, building safety and protection from the violence, and the role of the faith in this context can be crucial. We will present aspects of women’s faith in the Christian tradition that could serve as potential for growth, protection, and support in finishing and recovering from abusive relationships.
