is ...confirmed by the Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction data in all samples. The unit cell parameters were found to increase with Ni doping. The FM and AFM were observed to coexist as confirmed by M–H hysteresis. Positive values of Θ for nickel-doped samples are consistent with the existence of FM interactions. The effective magnetic moment decreases with Ni substitution. All the samples exhibit temperaturedependent semiconducting behaviour. The electrical resistivity decreases considerably with increasing Ni content and with increasing temperature. The transport mechanism has been investigated by fitting a nearest-neighbour small polaron hopping (SPH) model.
Recently, it has been shown that panniculectomy concurrent to living donor renal transplantation is a safe option for management of renal transplant recipients with a large focal pannus. This ...combined management requires precise coordination of teams. We describe the technique, timing, and sequence for combined renal transplantation and panniculectomy.
We conducted a retrospective chart review of adult patients (≥18 years old) who underwent simultaneous living donor renal transplantation-panniculectomy from 2015 to 2019. A multi-team approach that included urology, transplant, and plastic surgery was used to perform the combined operations. Typically, the plastic surgery team initiates the operation by performing the panniculectomy. This is followed by kidney transplantation and graft anastomosis. The plastic surgery team then completes the operation with closure of the wound.
Twenty patients were identified. Most were male (12:8) with a mean age of 55 years and an average body mass index of 35 kg/m. The mean total operative duration was 394 minutes. On average, 17% of operating time was devoted to panniculectomy. At 90 days follow-up, there was 100% graft survival and all patients had primary graft function. There was a 25% wound complications rate and a 15% reoperation rate.
By performing panniculectomy first in the sequence, concurrent panniculectomy provides wide exposure and a large operative field for transplantation. Wound closure by plastic surgeons may mitigate the high complication rate commonly seen in obese patients with end-stage renal disease. Future studies are needed to evaluate the cost-benefit of the combined living donor renal transplantation-panniculectomy.

In this paper, we report a detailed study of the structural, magnetic, and electrical transport properties of nano- and bulk La{sub 0.5}Sr{sub 0.5}Ti{sub 0.5}Co{sub 0.5}O{sub 3} perovskite with the ...aim to study the effect of size reduction on resistivity and the antiferromagnetic spin order that is seen in the bulk samples of the cobaltites. Both the phases crystallize with orthorhombic structure in the Pbnm space group. Size reduction causes an increase in both the lattice parameters and unit cell volume. The M–H curve of nanosample shows appearance of hysteresis and gives a clear evidence of the formation of ferromagnetic (FM) moments while almost no RT-FM behavior was found for bulk sample. The resistivity of the nanocrystalline sample has been found to be much lower than that of the bulk sample in the entire temperature range of investigation which could be due to the formation of ferromagnetic moments in the nanocrystallites.
The Indian Society of Gastroenterology developed this evidence-based practice guideline for management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adults. A modified Delphi process was used to ...develop this consensus containing 58 statements, which were generated by electronic voting iteration as well as face-to-face meeting and review of the supporting literature primarily from India. These statements include 10 on epidemiology, 8 on clinical presentation, 10 on investigations, 23 on treatment (including medical, endoscopic, and surgical modalities), and 7 on complications of GERD. When the proportion of those who voted either to accept completely or with minor reservation was 80% or higher, the statement was regarded as accepted. The prevalence of GERD in India ranges from 7.6% to 30%, being < 10% in most population studies, and higher in cohort studies. The dietary factors associated with GERD include use of spices and non-vegetarian food.
Helicobacter pylori
is thought to have a negative relation with GERD;
H. pylori
negative patients have higher grade of symptoms of GERD and esophagitis. Less than 10% of GERD patients in India have erosive esophagitis. In patients with occasional or mild symptoms, antacids and histamine H

receptor blockers (H2RAs) may be used, and proton pump inhibitors (PPI) should be used in patients with frequent or severe symptoms. Prokinetics have limited proven role in management of GERD.
INTRODUCTION
The LIfestyle for BRAin Health (LIBRA) index yields a dementia risk score based on modifiable lifestyle factors and is validated in Western samples. We investigated whether the ...association between LIBRA scores and incident dementia is moderated by geographical location or sociodemographic characteristics.
METHODS
We combined data from 21 prospective cohorts across six continents (N = 31,680) and conducted cohort‐specific Cox proportional hazard regression analyses in a two‐step individual participant data meta‐analysis.
RESULTS
A one‐standard‐deviation increase in LIBRA score was associated with a 21% higher risk for dementia. The association was stronger for Asian cohorts compared to European cohorts, and for individuals aged ≤75 years (vs older), though only within the first 5 years of follow‐up. No interactions with sex, education, or socioeconomic position were observed.
DISCUSSION
Modifiable risk and protective factors appear relevant for dementia risk reduction across diverse geographical and sociodemographic groups.
Highlights
A two‐step individual participant data meta‐analysis was conducted.
This was done at a global scale using data from 21 ethno‐regionally diverse cohorts.
The association between a modifiable dementia risk score and dementia was examined.
The association was modified by geographical region and age at baseline.
Yet, modifiable dementia risk and protective factors appear relevant in all investigated groups and regions.
Background: Diabetes is estimated to complicate 2-5% of all pregnancies of which 90% of those are detected during pregnancy i.e. gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and the rest are overt or ...pregestational i.e. either Type 1 or Type 2. According to ADA, approximately 7% of all pregnancies are complicated by GDM resulting in more than 2,00,000 cases annually. The aim was to study the incidence of GDM among pregnant women between 24 to 28 weeks of gestation, to evaluate and compare the occurrence of risk factors e.g.; family history of diabetes, prematurity, history of foetal loss and congenital anomaly associated with diabetes in pregnancy. Methods: 50gm of glucose, glucose challenge test (GCT) was given to women coming for antenatal check-up between 24 to 28 weeks of gestation irrespective of presence or absence of risk factors for GDM.1 hour glucose levels were checked. Patients with glucose levels more than 130mg/dl were subjected to 100gm of oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) according to Carpenter and Coustan modification of the National Diabetes Data. Data was compiled and statistically analysed. Results: In this study it was observed that 20 (women had raised GCT, 11 (5.3%) women developed GDM out of 206 women. All GDM patients have one or more risk factors. Age >25 years (63.6%) fetal loss (36.3%), BMI (33.3%) are common risk factors followed by family history of diabetes (27.3%).Conclusions: Family history of diabetes and past history of congenital anomalies are statistically significant in GDM group as compared to non GDM.
Background:
C3 glomerulopathy is caused by dysregulation of the alternative complement pathway. Association with solid organ tumors is rare. However, there have been a few case reports of ...membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis secondary to gastrointestinal neoplasms.
Case:
A 38-year-old female presented with abdominal distension, loss of appetite, amenorrhea, and easy fatigability. She had been diagnosed 8 months back with C3 glomerulopathy and had received immunosuppression. On evaluation, she was incidentally detected to have Krukenberg tumor. The primary site of malignancy was gall bladder.
Conclusion:
Our case report highlights a possible association between C3 glomerulopathy and Krukenberg tumor secondary to gall bladder carcinoma and emphasizes the fact that even in cases of C3 glomerulopathy, occult malignancy should be considered as an underlying pathology.
