We suggest a new spin orientation mechanism for localized electrons: dynamic electron spin polarization provided by nuclear spin fluctuations. The detrimental effect of nuclear spin fluctuations can ...be harnessed and employed to provide angular momentum for the electrons via the hyperfine interaction in a weak magnetic field. For this, the sample is illuminated by an unpolarized light, which directly polarizes neither the electrons nor the nuclei. We predict that, for the electrons bound in localized excitons, 100% spin polarization can be reached in longitudinal magnetic fields of a few millitesla. The proof of principle experiment is performed on momentum-indirect excitons in (In, Al) As/AlAs quantum dots, where in a magnetic field of 17 mT the electron spin polarization of 30% is measured.
In disordered systems, the hopping conductivity regime is usually realized at low temperatures where spin-related phenomena differ strongly from the cases of delocalized carriers. We develop the ...unified microscopic theory of current-induced spin orientation, spin-galvanic, and spin-Hall effects for the two-dimensional hopping regime. We show that the corresponding susceptibilities are proportional to each other and determined by the interplay between the drift and the diffusion spin currents. Estimations are made for realistic semiconductor heterostructures using the percolation theory. We show that the electrical spin polarization in the hopping regime increases exponentially with the increase of the concentration of localization sites and may reach a few percent at the crossover from the hopping to the diffusion conductivity regime.
A theory of spin fluctuations of localized electrons interacting with an optically cooled nuclear spin bath has been developed. Since nuclear spin temperature may stay low enough for a ...macroscopically long time, the effect of dynamic nuclear polarization on electron spin dynamics can be directly revealed by means of spin noise spectroscopy. We have shown that in the case of weak fields/relatively high nuclear spin temperature, a small degree of nuclear spin polarization affects the electron spin fluctuations in the same way as an additional external magnetic field. By contrast, the high degree of nuclear polarization realized in relatively strong magnetic field and at low nuclear spin temperature leads to a suppression of hyperfine field fluctuations and to a dramatic narrowing of the precession-induced peak in the spin noise spectrum. The experimental possibilities of nuclear spin system investigation by means of spin noise spectroscopy are discussed.

Via optical orientation of localized hole spins we drive the nuclear many-body system into this entangled state, requiring a weak magnetic field of only a few milli-Tesla strength at cryogenic temperatures. During its fast establishment, the nuclear polarization along the optical axis remains small, while the transverse nuclear spin fluctuations are strongly reduced, corresponding to spin squeezing as evidenced by a strong violation of the generalized nuclear squeezing-inequality with
ξ
s
< 0.5. The dark state corresponds to an ~35-body entanglement between the nuclei. Dark nuclear spin states can be exploited to store quantum information benefiting from their long-lived many-body coherence and to perform quantum measurements with a precision beyond the standard limit.
Although the main Raman features of semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides are well known for the monolayer and bulk, there are important differences exhibited by few layered systems which ...have not been fully addressed. WSe2 samples were synthesized and ab-initio calculations carried out. We calculated phonon dispersions and Raman-active modes in layered systems: WSe2, MoSe2, WS2 and MoS2 ranging from monolayers to five-layers and the bulk. First, we confirmed that as the number of layers increase, the E', E″ and E2g modes shift to lower frequencies, and the A'1 and A1g modes shift to higher frequencies. Second, new high frequency first order A'1 and A1g modes appear, explaining recently reported experimental data for WSe2, MoSe2 and MoS2. Third, splitting of modes around A'1 and A1g is found which explains those observed in MoSe2. Finally, exterior and interior layers possess different vibrational frequencies. Therefore, it is now possible to precisely identify few-layered STMD.
Bilayer graphene is an attractive platform for studying new two-dimensional electron physics, because its flat energy bands are sensitive to out-of-plane electric fields and these bands magnify ...electron-electron interaction effects. Theory predicts a variety of interesting broken symmetry states when the electron density is at the carrier neutrality point, and some of these states are characterized by spontaneous mass gaps, which lead to insulating behaviour. These proposed gaps are analogous to the masses generated by broken symmetries in particle physics, and they give rise to large Berry phase effects accompanied by spontaneous quantum Hall effects. Although recent experiments have provided evidence for strong electronic correlations near the charge neutrality point, the presence of gaps remains controversial. Here, we report transport measurements in ultraclean double-gated bilayer graphene and use source-drain bias as a spectroscopic tool to resolve a gap of ∼2 meV at the charge neutrality point. The gap can be closed by a perpendicular electric field of strength ∼15 mV nm(-1), but it increases monotonically with magnetic field, with an apparent particle-hole asymmetry above the gap. These data represent the first spectroscopic mapping of the ground states in bilayer graphene in the presence of both electric and magnetic fields.

One of the strategically important management decisions which affect the bank's business model is to determine the specifics of ecosystem growth. The study's goal is to figure the optimal balance between traditional activities and non-banking services of credit institutions. This suppose to strengthen their position in the face of penetration of digital competitors into banking operations (Internet banks, financial and large technology companies, telecoms). The theoretical and methodological basis of the research was formed by the scientific works of foreign scientists and experts on improving the efficiency of banking institutions. There were used methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis of scientific publications, analytical materials of well-known consulting companies, statistical data. As a result, the author found a technological transformation is required using such approaches to customer service (retail and corporate) that reflect their needs in banking with the intensive use of relevant competencies in cash management, means and risks. That will cause to protect the banking business from digital competitors and increase its market capitalization. All these measures will be able to induce clients to use more extensively the banks opportunities and help them to increase investments in their core business, thereby contributing to its growth. The author concludes that being developed ecosystems, it is advisable for banks to focus on services close to their core work, as well as on increasing the efficiency of their own activities and providing new services. Meanwhile, the marketplaces development within the banking ecosystems does not give the latter advantages in the competition in the banking services market.
We propose a concept of quantum dot based light emitting diode that produces circularly polarized light without magnetic contacts due to the hyperfine interaction at the crossing of the exciton ...levels in a weak magnetic field. The electroluminescence circular polarization degree can reach 100%. The concept is compatible with the micropillar cavities, which allows for the generation of single circularly polarized photons. Second order photon correlation function includes information about the nuclear spin dynamics in the quantum dot, and the nuclear spin state can be purified by the quantum measurement backaction.
