Two new cutthroat eel species are described from Vietnam. Dysomma intermedium sp. nov. has a relatively long trunk, being about half of head length and anal‐fin origin more than twice pectoral‐fin ...length behind the pectoral‐fin tip; pectoral fin well developed; dorsal‐fin origin over or slightly in front of base of pectoral fin; two intermaxillary teeth; four or five compound teeth on ethmovomer; single row of seven or eight teeth on lower jaw; total lateral‐line pores 70–76; and 21 pre‐anal and 118–124 total vertebrae. Dysommina brevis sp. nov. differs from congeners by having a trunk shorter than head length, its length 11.1%–11.8% TL; a short pre‐anal length 24.6%–25.6% TL, eye diameter 11.8%–12.3% head length; three large and one or two small teeth on ethmovomer; and fewer teeth on the upper and lower jaws. In addition, a specimen representing the first record of Dysommina orientalis in Vietnamese water is documented.
Universal health insurance is currently a risk-sharing solution that aims to provide healthcare coverage for all citizens of Vietnam. However, in the current context, health care costs are ...increasing, especially the cost of treating diseases. Universal health insurance is increasingly becoming an important support tool that helps to share the financial risks of people and protect their health. Therefore, the article studies the importance of universal health insurance in the social health care system in Vietnam, its direct impacts on patients, and the current situation, challenges, and some recommendations to improve the development of social health insurance towards the goal of universal health coverage in Vietnam.
The 2019 African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks in Vietnam imposed considerable impacts on the pig sector in Vietnam, resulting in the death or culling of nearly six million pigs, or more than 20% of ...the country's pig population. In order to assess the magnitude of the outbreak at sector level (both on farm and at value chain level), on livelihoods, and on the broader national economy, a comprehensive impact assessment was conducted using a mixed methods approach that integrated a value chain assessment with the use of quantitative modeling tools at sector and national levels. The results showed that the outbreak caused severe direct and indirect economic losses among farmers, particularly medium- and large-farmers whose livelihoods are largely derived from pig production. The outbreaks also affected other value chain actors due to a halving in the volume of pigs traded. At sector level, the outbreaks posed adverse impacts on the domestic supply and demand for pork, especially in the traditional sector. Meanwhile, the modern sector with higher levels of biosecurity and high technology growth was less likely to be affected and even benefited from the outbreak, which was evidenced by increased supply and income throughout the simulation period in this sector. At national level, different model simulation scenarios showed a sharp reduction in total gross domestic product (GDP) and a substantial loss of jobs. Improvements in the system of ASF compensation scheme are needed, both in terms of its administration, but also in its targeting, with greater emphasis needed on developing improved risk-sharing and funding mechanisms across national and local levels.
Purpose: the aim of this study was to the system of the trial agencies that resolve civil cases in Vietnam currently. Theoretical framework: Currently, the number of civil cases tried every year in ...Vietnam is increasing rapidly. According to statistics from the Supreme People's Court, on resolving civil, marriage and family, business, trade and labor cases, in 2021, the Court handled 411,299 cases, with 324,813 resolved and adjudicated, reaching a rate of 79%. In 2022, the Court handled 444,402 cases, with 386,944 cases resolved and adjudicated, reaching a rate of 87.07% (Supreme People's Court, 2021). Design/methodology/approach: To meet the needs and demands of judicial work, the People's Court system is increasingly being organized scientifically and strictly. Especially since the establishment of the 2014 Law on Court Organization, the People's Court system in Vietnam has changed greatly compared to the time before this particularly important law took effect. Findings: However, with the impact and influence of international integration and economic and social development, the adjudication of civil cases in Vietnam always poses demands on the People's Court system. Discussion: Therefore, currently, research on the structure of the judicial agencies that resolve civil cases has become especially important and necessary in Vietnam, to promptly find solutions to improve their operational efficiency and perfect the law.
The paper describes observers using model reference adaptive system for sensorless induction motor drive with the pulse width modulator and the direct torque control under the circumstances of ...incorrect information of induction motor parameters. An approximation based on the definition of the Laplace transformation is used to obtain initial values of the parameters. These values are utilized to simulate sensorless control structures of the induction motor drive in Matlab-Simulink environment. Performance comparison of two typical observers is carried out at different speed areas and in presence of parameter uncertainty. A laboratory stand with the induction motor drive and load unit is set up to verify the properties of observers. Experimental results confirm the expected dynamic properties of selected observer.
The mechanical properties of unidirectional natural fiber-reinforced composites are generally affected by several processing parameters during compression molding. This study investigates the effects ...of processing temperature, time, and pressure on the tensile and flexural properties
of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene reinforced by banana fibers. X-ray CT imaging was employed to find the relationship between the mechanical properties and structure of the processed composite. Besides, the water absorption of composites was observed and the way in which the mechanical properties
evolved after water absorption was analyzed. The tensile and flexural properties of the unidirectional banana fiber-reinforced composite were found to be inversely proportional to the porosity. In addition, high-pressure compression molding might result in cracks and floating fibers that would
significantly reduce its mechanical properties. The composite with the highest strength, smallest porosity and lowest water absorption was optimally prepared at T = 170 °C, t = 20 min, and P = 100 kg cm-2.
Induction motors are widely used in an industry and it is necessary to improve control methods for induction motors to increase the efficiency of them. In this paper, sliding mode controllers are ...proposed instead of traditional PI controllers in vector control of induction motor drives. Moreover, rotor speed is estimated by a sliding mode observer. In addition, the robustness of control and observer algorithms are also proved by Lyapunov’s criterion. The experiments are obtained in different speed changes of an induction motor drive. These experimental results confirm the dynamic properties of a sensorless sliding mode control of an induction motor drive.

Objective: The purpose of the article research the types of evidence sources in Vietnam`s civil procedure, points out several limitations, shortcomings, and propose recommendations to complete the ...legal system concerned. Theoretical framework: The research employs theories about types of evidence sources in Vietnam`s civil procedure, regulations on types of evidence sources, and mechanisms apply to types of evidence sources in Vietnam. Method: The research employs three common methods in legal science research: (1) Legal analysis method; (2) Legal efficiency evaluation method; and (3) Comparative legal method. The above research methods help compare and contrast theories of types of evidence sources in Vietnam`s civil procedure and bring out some essential findings. Results and conclusion: Some valuable findings have been revealed such as the formulation and development of types of evidence sources in Vietnam's civil procedure, some theoretical issues, and limitations on regulations on types of evidence sources. Implications of the research: The article proposes some tasks remaining undone, and further tasks will be fulfilled in the future. The article may support many develop future research in Vietnam. Originality/value: The research on the types of evidence sources in civil procedure become more and more urgent and very important in Vietnam.
