We have performed a systematic ARPES experiment on a solid-solution topological insulator (TI) system TlBi_1-x_Sb_x_Te_2_ which is bulk insulating at 0.5 < x < 0.9. We found that the surface Dirac ...point gradually becomes isolated from the bulk valence band, resulting in a sign change of Dirac carriers from n- to p-type. Moreover, we found that this TI system has the largest Dirac velocity among known solid-solution TI. In this presentation, we will discuss in detail the evolution of electronic states as a function of x.
Capsule endoscopy (CE) is a safe, non-invasive diagnostic tool to evaluate small bowel lesions. CE, like conventional endoscopy, can detect focal and small-ulcerated lesions along the entire length ...of the small bowel, which are not identified by other imaging techniques. Meta-analysis has shown that CE is better than any other radiological technique to detect small bowel lesions in patients with suspected or known Crohn's disease (CD). In unclassified colitis, CE is also useful in distinguishing CD and ulcerative colitis (UC). In established CD, CE may be used to detect post-operative recurrence, determine the extent of small bowel lesions and link ulcerated lesions with clinical symptoms. Although CE is well tolerated there is a theoretical risk of capsule impaction in general and in CD in particular. To avoid capsule impaction, a new option called the “patency capsule” is available especially in patients with symptoms suggesting small bowel obstruction. However, few data are available about this new device and its use in clinical practice needs to be clarified.

Combination in both ferroic properties in current lead-free ferroelectric materials is promising in creating a new type of smart electronic devices. In this report, single perovskite Co-doped 0.2BaZrO3-0.8BaTiO3 materials were synthesized by using the chemical method. The random incorporation of Co cations into the host lattice of 0.2BaZrO3-0.8BaTiO3 compounds resulted in distortion of the lattice parameter and strong reduction the optical band gap energy. Decreasing optical band gap energy was obtained from around 3.17 to 2.52 eV by introducing Co concentration of up to 9 mol.%. The magnetic properties of 0.2BaZrO3-0.8BaTiO3 compounds were showed in complex as dependent on the level of Co dopants. The nonlinear electrical polarization in 0.2BaZrO3-0.8BaTiO3 compounds was obtained and remained after the introduction of Co impurities. The observation in nonlinear in magnetism and electrical polarization were promised to transfer their materials for device applications.
In this paper, the downlink of cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) with zero-forcing processing is considered. To maximize the system energy efficiency (EE), we design power ...allocation algorithms taking into account imperfect channel state information, hardware, and backhaul power consumption. The total EE optimization problem is nonconvex, which traditionally is solved by the successive convex approximation framework which involves second order cone programs (SOCPs). As such methods have high complexity, the run time is extremely long, especially in large-scale systems with thousands of access points (APs) and users. To overcome this problem, in this paper, we propose to apply two computationally efficient methods, namely proximal gradient (PG) method and accelerated proximal gradient (APG) method to solve the considered problem. Numerical results show that, compared to the conventional SOCPs approximation methods, our proposed methods achieve the same performance while the run time is much smaller.
Abstract
Background
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) has an important impact on patients’ quality of life (QOL). Data on its impact on patients’ close relatives are limited. This study aims at ...exploring the effect of IBD on patients’ caregivers (PC).
Methods
We have conducted an online survey about the impact of IBD on PCs via the social network of the French association of IBD patients (Association François Aupetit) between october 16th and november 23rd 2020. The burden the disease had on their psychological, professional and social life was evaluated through a computerized questionnaire.
Results
Eight hundred and fifty-three PCs aged > 16 years were interrogated. 77% were females. Their relatives had Crohn’s disease (CD) in 63% and Ulcerative colitis (UC) in 35% of cases. Patient was the child in 57% or the partner in 31% of cases. Fifty four percent of PCs had never heard about IBD before the diagnosis of their relatives, and upon disease announcement, 86% experienced a feeling of worry, sadness or anxiety. They were regularly searching informations about the disease through internet websites, IBD associations or health care professionals in 72, 68 and 53% of cases, respectively. Main concerns included novel therapies (55%), treatment side effects (45%), long term disease consequences (52%) and dietary limitations (47%). Twenty percent considered that they were still not well informed about the disease. The most significant impact on daily PCs’ life was psychological as they were regularly experiencing anxiety and incapacity in 94% of cases. Concerning professional impact, 36% of PCs needed to reduce or to adjust their work time, to work from home or even to change or leave their work. Among partners, the disease impacted their sexual life as 22% reported a decrease in their desire/libido and 14% reported an absence of sexual relation for weeks or months. Sixty four percent have waived many social activities as going out with friends, holidays or cinema. More than 50% wished they had more psychological support as well as more information about the disease and the way they could help their relatives. The main factors associated with a higher psychological impact were the following: Female sex (OR 2.23; 95%CI 1.51–3.28; p<0.0001), parental status (OR 2.29; 95%CI 1.28–4.11; P<0.0001), IBD duration <5 years (OR 1.72; 95%CI 1.11–2.66; P=0.005) and the lack of information about the disease (OR 0.59; 95%CI 0.39–0.88; P=0.01).
Conclusion
IBD had an important impact on PCs’ QOL at personal and social levels. A psychological support and an appropriate information about the disease and the help they can provide to their relatives are essential to reduce the burden of IBD on their daily life.
