Peter F. Drucker, who was often called the world's most influential business scholar and whose thinking transformed corporate management in the latter half of the 20th century, died Nov 11 at his ...home in Claremont, California. Drucker was born in Vienna on Nov 19, 1909. He started his career in Economics by working for several German banks and export companies, and, at the same time, as economic journalist for Austrian and German newspapers and international banks in London. Drucker pioneered the idea of privatization and the corporation as a social institution. He coined the terms "knowledge workers" and "management by objectives". Although he was not always right with his visions, in the world of management gurus, there is no debate. An interview taken with Drucker in 1997 when he was receiving an honorary degree from the University of Economics Prague is presented.
Enviable strategic objective of Czech business sphere is to increase competitiveness. There is a long term task which major objective is to participate in this problematic. Its first part, empiric ...research and descriptive analysis of competitiveness of Czech organizations, are discussed in this article. First of all theoretical and methodical background is characterized, especially definition of terminology, systemic approach, conditions of relevant corporate environment and concepts of management of knowledge organization. Basic objective of assignment is to get relevant information from real environment of wide spectrum of our entrepreneur subjects and use them for analysis of system of management of Czech organization, especially from the point of view of systemic approach, level of interrelations and logic links - synergy. Competitiveness of Czech organizations is analyzed on the sample of 348 Czech organizations in time horizon 2002-2007. Final generalizations will be used as a background for work in next phases.

We report on the technological commissioning of the Laser–Plasma Ion Accelerator section of the ELIMAIA user beamline at the ELI Beamlines facility in the Czech Republic. The high-peak, high-average ...power L3-HAPLS laser system was used with an energy of ~10 J and pulse duration of ~30 fs on target, both in single-pulse and high repetition-rate (~0.5 Hz) mode. The laser pulse was tightly focused to reach ultrahigh intensity on target (~1021 W/cm2) and sustain such laser–plasma interaction regime during high repetition-rate operations. The laser beam, ion beam, and laser–plasma emission were monitored on a shot-to-shot basis, and online data analysis at 0.5 Hz was demonstrated through the full set of used diagnostics (e.g., far and near field, laser temporal diagnostics, X- and gamma-ray detectors, Thomson Parabola ion spectrometer, time-of-flight ion detectors, plasma imaging, etc.). The capability and reliability of the ELIMAIA Ion Accelerator was successfully demonstrated at a repetition rate of 0.5 Hz for several hundreds of consecutive laser shots.
