This study contributes to estimate the municipal solid waste (MSW) recycling effect on environmental quality and economic growth in the United States. Few studies have been given to macro-level aggregate analysis through national scale MSW recycling, environmental, and economic indicators. This study employs bootstrapping autoregressive distributed lag modeling for investigating the cointegration relationship among MSW recycling, economic growth, carbon emissions, and energy efficiency utilized quarterly data from 1990 to 2017. The result implies that a one percent increase in MSW recycling contributes to economic growth and reduce carbon emissions by 0.317% (0.157%) and 0.209% (0.087%) in the long-run (short-run). Similarly, a one percent improvement in energy efficiency stimulates economic growth by 0.489% (0.281%) and mitigates carbon emissions by 0.285% (0.197%) in the long-run (short-run). A higher per capita income and population growth caused higher emissions by 0.197% and 0.401% in the long-run. The overall results reveal stronger impacts in the long-run than the short-run with significant convergence towards long-run equilibrium, suggesting a prominent long-run transmission of economic and environmental fallouts. This study confirms a uni-directional causality from MSW recycling to economic growth, carbon emissions, and energy efficiency. These outcomes signify that any policy intervention related to MSW recycling produces significant changes in the level of economic growth and carbon emissions. The finding provides valuable insight for policymakers to counteract carbon emissions through recyclable waste management that simultaneously create significant economic value.

•There is a growing interest in applying blockchain technology in supply chain operations.•Research on blockchain configuration receives less attention as compared to others, such as impact and ...function.•Discussion on sustainability is limited as compared to other themes.•More research should be carried out under the themes of coordination, performance and order management.•The voices of different stakeholders should be considered in academic research.
In the past few years, blockchain, the underlying technology of Bitcoin, has received considerable attention from academia and industry. It is widely accepted that blockchain technology causes disruptive changes in supply chain operations that can overcome supply chain difficulties encountered in realizing information sharing, maintaining traceability in the entire process and improving operational efficiency. However, the application of blockchain technology in the supply chain field is still in its infancy, which limits an understanding of its potential. This article uses descriptive and content analysis to review publications related to blockchain-based supply chains between 2017 and 2020 inclusive. To fully explore research on blockchain-based supply chains, four well-designed questions are proposed and addressed, namely, the value of blockchain in supply chains, the attraction of scholars to particular supply chain themes, the development of research methodologies and illustration types in adopting blockchain in supply chains, and the types of industries involved in blockchain-based supply chains. The results reveal that there is growing interest in applying blockchain technology to supply chain operations. A detailed analysis of findings is provided to identify the future opportunities of blockchain-based supply chains, including prospects for tertiary industries and concerted efforts that are necessary to explore sustainability themes. This article provides valuable information to help scholars and practitioners better determine the relevant research topics to accelerate the development of blockchain-based supply chains.

Sustainability issues have received considerable attention from corporations that embrace corporate sustainability, which focuses on the triple bottom lines of societal, environmental and financial ...returns or impacts. However, although corporate sustainability has been studied in depth by analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, no studies have involved social media as part of the decision-making process to evaluate a Taiwanese-printed circuit board manufacturing focal firm. This study proposed appropriate attributes and developed the following hybrid method: (i) evaluate the weights of the aspects and attributes as described by qualitative and quantitative data and (ii) analyze how the use of social media modifies their decision-making process. The findings demonstrate that to acquire benefits from sustainable design, code of conduct and eco-products, firms must increase their exchange across corporate functions when dealing with these unexplored sustainability activities. In conclusion, this study compared the results of the above-described data using the Vise Kriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) weighted average method with vague sets and presents the managerial and theoretical implications for operations management studies.
As green growth is considered an effective method to save energy and reduce emissions, the questions of how to achieve it and which factors drive green growth have become hot topic. Although there ...are some studies on the factors impacting the achievement of green growth, they are limited in quantity. Moreover, most of them are primarily focused on specific influencing factors, such as political factors, environmental regulation (ER), technological innovation (TI), and so on; while there is little discussion of the interaction effects in an integrated methodological framework. Accordingly, this paper develops an integrated model to investigate the relationships among ER, TI and regional green growth performance (RGGP). The model is tested using empirical data on 30 provincial administrative regions in China during 2011–2012 by employing structural equation modeling (SEM) approach that can effectively investigate the relationships between observed and latent variables and the relationships among latent variables simultaneously. The hypothesis H1 of this paper is not confirmed, and the results show that ER has a significant negative effect on RGGP. Both the hypotheses H2 and H3 are confirmed, namely, ER significantly positively influences TI, and TI has a positive impact on RGGP. This finding provides empirical evidence to support the Porter Hypothesis that properly designed ER may positively affect RGGP through motivating TI. According to the results of hypotheses H1, H2 and H3, we find that ER couldn’t directly promote RGGP, but RGGP will be positively impacted by TI driven ER. The finding supports the view of ecological modernization theory that green growth practices may be promoted by TI driven ER, but whether ER can bring green growth practices is uncertain. Furthermore, the finding indicates that TI is a bridge for linking ER and RGGP. Based on our findings, we present some important implications that can be useful for policy-makers and enterprise managers to promote green growth practices in China.

This research uses a solution based on a combined grey-fuzzy DEMATEL method to deal with the objective of the study. This study is aimed to present a perception approach to deal with real estate ...agent service quality expectation ranking with uncertainty. The ranking of best top five real estate agents might be a key strategic direction of other real estate agents prior to service quality expectation. The solving procedure is as follows: (i) the weights of criteria and alternatives are described in triangular fuzzy numbers; (ii) a grey possibility degree is used to result the ranking order for all alternatives; (iii) DEMATEL is used to resolve interdependency relationships among the criteria and (iv) an empirical example of real estate agent service quality ranking problem in customer expectation is used to resolve with this proposed method approach indicating that real estate agent R1 (CY real estate agent) is the best selection in terms of service quality in customer expectation.
This study contributes to the integration of a set of measures and a hybrid method for eco-innovation in industrial symbiosis. Firms achieve competitive advantages in business management through ...eco-innovation, and industrial symbiosis makes a major contribution to achieving win-win status in supply-chain networks. However, although many attributes have been addressed in previous studies, the role of eco-innovation remains unclear in the extended industrial symbiosis literature. This study attempts to identify the key eco-innovation attributes for enhancing industrial symbiosis performance. These attributes can serve as a reference for firms involved in promoting operational activities. This study collected information from the textile industry in Vietnam. Next, the fuzzy Delphi method was employed to filter the attributes with higher weights, factor analysis was used to compose the hierarchical structure, fuzzy importance-performance analysis was applied to identify the key attributes, and a supermatrix was converged into attribute weight ranking. The fuzzy Delphi method resulted in a set of criteria, the factor analysis resulted in four aspects (environmental sustainability, collaboration, regulation and perception, and waste-management synergies), and 18 attributes remained in the hierarchical structure. The results of the importance-performance analysis and the converged supermatrix weight ranking in the hierarchical structure are presented. The results show that the regulation and perception aspect and the waste-management synergies aspect have the highest weights. Moreover, firms should implement action plans that include stakeholder and community involvement, customer perceptions, shared waste transport, and joint external-agent waste management.
