The wilderness of my heartRuns races of yearningsDown the road of expectationsOn the eve of hopeful disappointment. The cascade of painErodes my gullible hopeFor a dream rewind.I’m not a friend of ...grieffor grief is it, that strips me of joy.The world, adorned in the regalia of griefCrawls blindly on meSearching for what never will beMeaning is meaningless to meLike a dry river is to fish.My knowledge fails my knowingMy sight, blurredSteps failing. This lonely path I tread unaccompanied,But for my painful smilesA stranger you are to my painFor you reap from the gains of my painLeaving in your wake. The debris of your inequities,My thorny steps to walk.A lone friend in majority you were,You held my hands,As I throttle through the red sea of lifeThen,You let go your gripEmbarking on an endless journey,You alone chose to travelNo goodbyesBut the reality of your present absenceAll there is leftAre the Debris of your heartThe Echoes of your laughterThe gaiety of your stepsThe glow of your smileThe benevolence of your handsNo sired possessionNor decent siblingsInstead, scavengers of your wealthClaiming legality to what you hold dearWith professed pain, but gladdened heartsThey scavenge your wealth and worldPaying no attention to the bell of time. There's no absolution to this painThe epiphany of your departure,
Patient empowerment evolved as a strategy to address multi-faceted healthcare management issues. Studies over the past decades have provided different patient empowerment frameworks, but even with ...the emergent frameworks, there is no marked desired result. To date there has been no reliable patient empowerment. This thesis is driven by the ambition to enable greater patient empowerment in our global healthcare services. The methodological approach adopted was a mixed methodology approach based on taxonomical analysis, questionnaire study and focus group discussions. To better understand a patient empowered system, this work explored empowerment, patient empowerment and the role of technology. The thesis built through critical analysis on the knowledge of existing patient empowerment frameworks coupled with technology practice to develop an improved patient empowered system. Through review of existing frameworks and articulation of patients' demands, weaknesses in current structures to support empowerment are determined. This thesis provides a platform for articulating an improved patient empowerment model, which considered systems theory ideas such as holism and iteration. Further research would propose implementing a trail of this model in practice and exploring with a wider range of stakeholders its potential for integration in the NHS or other health service organisations.
This study is a cross-disciplinary investigation of the pedagogical significance of children literature in Nigeria—a linguistic study of selected samples from Akintayo Oluyinka’s The Greatest ...Mistake. Visual illustrations are typical of children literature because of the age-range of the readers. Hamilton (2000) notes that “children who encounter excellent picture books learn how to read not just the moods but also the pictures. They pay close attention to what they see often discovering things in illustrations.” Like in the literary text we examine in this study, pictorial illustrations in Nigerian children literature have varied contextual underpinnings which make them have meanings to children-readers. This establishes their pragmatic relevance. Objects and gestures convey messages in discourse. Therefore, semiotics is a crucial concern of this study. Hinging on the Pragma-crafting theory, this study concludes that the effectiveness of children literature in the transmission of knowledge to the target readers (children) depends on the skillful use of textual and extra-textual elements of communication.
This study is conducted to analyze and compare the physico-chemical properties and mineral compositions of locally produced honey samples in Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto with the national and ...international standards. To achieve these, seven samples of locally produced honey was collected from the study area. the physicochemical properties was analysed using the Official Methods of Analysis established by Association of Official Analytical Chemists while the mineral compositions of all the honey samples were determined using flame photometer and atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results showed that the colours ranged from extra light amber to light amber; electrical conductivity from 0.06±0.01mS/cm to 1.15±0.16mS/cm and density from 1.41±0.00g/cm3 to 1.36±0.00g/cm3. On the mineral composition, the ash content was from 0.08±0.00% to 0.18±0.01%; moisture content from 3.94±0.29mg to 20.29±0.20%; total reducing sugars from 63.23±2.46% to 73.34±2.77%; free acidity from 14.48±0.53meq/kg-1 to 37.38±1.12meq/kg-1; lactonic acidity from 9.50±2.00meq/kg-1 to 15.50±1.50meq/kg-1; total acidity from 25.7±2.53 meq/kg-1 to 47.58±1.12 meq/kg-1. The physico-chemical and mineral compositions of the honeys were found to meet the established national standards. It was thus, concluded that honey from the area of study are of good quality
In order to efficiently retrieve information from highly huge and complicated datasets with dispersed storage in cloud computing, indexing methods are continually used on big data. Big data has grown ...quickly due to the accessibility of internet connection, mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, body-sensor devices, and cloud applications. Big data indexing has a variety of problems as a result of the expansion of big data, which is seen in the healthcare industry, manufacturing, sciences, commerce, social networks, and agriculture. Due to their high storage and processing requirements, current indexing approaches fall short of meeting the needs of large data in cloud computing. To fulfil the indexing requirements for large data, an effective index strategy is necessary. This paper presents the state-of-the-art indexing techniques for big data currently being proposed, identifies the problems these techniques and big data are currently facing, and outlines some future directions for research on big data indexing in cloud computing. It also compares the performance taxonomy of these techniques based on mean average precision and precision-recall rate.
