We present a parton-level study of electro-weak production of vector-boson pairs at the Large Hadron Collider, establishing the sensitivity to a set of dimension-six operators in the ...Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). Different final states are statistically combined, and we discuss how the orthogonality and interdependence of different analyses must be considered to obtain the most stringent constraints. The main novelties of our study are the inclusion of SMEFT effects in non-resonant diagrams and in irreducible QCD backgrounds, and an exhaustive template analysis of optimal observables for each operator and process considered. We also assess for the first time the sensitivity of vector-boson-scattering searches in semileptonic final states.
During COVID-19, many schools in the United States restrict parent visits and parent-teacher face-to-face meetings. Consequently, teachers and parents rely on digital technologies to communicate and ...build partnerships. Yet, little is known about their perceived experiences with digital communication. To contribute knowledge to this area, this study investigated the perceptions of the classroom teacher and parents of preschool children concerning their experiences of communicating with each other via digital technologies during COVID-19. The participants consisted of one teacher and three mothers of 3-year-olds in the same classroom of a private childcare center serving preschool children from mostly middle-class backgrounds in a northeastern state of the United States. The teacher and parents were interviewed individually and virtually via Zoom for 30–60 min (
M
= 45 min). A thematic analysis uncovered four salient themes: (1) modes of digital communication between the teacher and parents, (2) the nature of digital communication, (3) limitations of digital communication, and (4) digital communication via ClassDojo. The ClassDojo theme further revealed three subthemes: (1) ClassDojo for promoting proactive parent involvement, (2) ClassDojo for building teacher-parent partnerships, and (3) the use of limited functions of ClassDojo. The data were triangulated by analyzing teacher-parent communication artifacts on ClassDojo, which confirmed the findings related to the use of this digital platform.
We survey a sample of the Uruguay firms in the business sector, about the use of financial instruments as: Debt Structure, Net Value Present, Internal Rate of Return, Payback Period and other capital ...budgeting instruments. We follow the line research o Graham & Harvey (2001) and others works that replicate the same line. Using a logistic regression model, we arrive to the result that use of the financial tools is limited, results that are in sintony with other emerging economies. We observed that use of the financial tools is related with the size of the company, the setting of a debt target, the level of education and training, as well as the seniority of the person responding, as explanatory factors of greater use of the selected tools.
We review recent progress on the calculation of scattering amplitudes
in the high-energy limit. We start by illustrating the shockwave
formalism, which allows one to calculate amplitudes as iterated
...solutions of rapidity evolution equations. We then focus on our recent
results regarding

parton scattering. We present the calculation of the imaginary part of
the amplitude, at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy in the
high-energy logarithms, formally to all orders, and in practice to 13
loops. We then discuss the computation of the real part of the amplitude
at next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy and through four loops.
Both computations are carried in full colour, and provide new insight
into the analytic structure of scattering amplitudes and their infrared
singularity structure.
