The decay $ {K^ + } \to {\pi ^ + }v\bar v $, with a very precisely predicted branching ratio of less than 10
−10
in the Standard Model framework, is one of the best candidates to reveal indirect ...effects of new physics at the highest mass scales. The NA62 experiment at CERN SPS is designed to measure the branching ratio of such decay with a decay-in-flight technique, novel for this channel. The main goal of NA62 is to measure such Branching Ratio of $ {K^ + } \to {\pi ^ + }v\bar v $ with an accuracy better than 20%. This will be achieved by collecting up to 100 $ {K^ + } \to {\pi ^ + }v\bar v $ events with a background contamination at the level of 10%. The NA62 detector was commissioned in 2014 and 2015 and the experiment took physics data from 2015 to 2018. NA62 has already published the result of the 2016 data analysis. The 2017 data analysis is in progress, the single event sensitivity reached and the evaluation of the main backgrounds will be shown in this contribution.
A large-signal GaAs FET model is derived based on dc characteristics of the device. Analytical expressions of modeled nonlinear elements are presented in a form convenient for circuit design. Power ...saturation and gain characteristics of a GaAs FET are studied theoretically and experimentally. An oscillator design employing the large-signal model is demonstrated.
The fungi that cause sooty blotch grow only on the apple skin, so they use appropriate nutrients which are present on the fruit surface. It has been shown that when the first symptoms of sooty blotch ...occur a noticeable increase of glucose and fructose content both on the apple skin and in juice is observed. Such increase occurs at pH 4.4. An effect of surface glucose and fructose on the growth of pathogens responsible for the disease was also confirmed by evaluating the germination of conidia of Phialophora sessilis de Hoog and Peltaster fructicola Jonhson in solution of above mentioned sugars, distilled water and standard d-glucose solutions
The experiments were conducted in the years 2000-02 in Garlica near Krakow and Lososina Dolna near Nowy Sacz (Poland) on the apple cultivars Florina, Novamac, and Witos. The date of primary infection ...by fungi causing sooty blotch was determined in unsprayed orchards. It was found that the date of infection was different for various regions under investigation. The infection occurred primarily in late June and early July. The earliest infection was recorded for the Novamac cultivar. In the Lososina Dolna area the infection occurred earlier due to higher relative air humidity and rainfall. The duration of incubation period was also diversified for cultivars examined in both locations. The shortest period (29 days) was observed for Novamac in Lososina Dolna, while the longest one (45 days) for Florina in Garlica. It was found that the earlier date of primary infection, the shorter incubation period
Studies undertaken in 2002-04 on "Golden Delicious" apple fruits showed the presence of amino acids on the surface of their skin. Amount of total free amino acids ranged from 2.5 to 3.0 mg/L. In in ...vitro bioassays it was found that amino acids as a basic source of nitrogen did not activate germination of conidia of Peltaster fructicola (Johnson). However amino acids stimulated elongation of germ tubes and early hyphal growth. It was confirmed that fruit washings also contained sugars that stimulated both conidial germination and germ tube elongation. We proved also that different carbon to nitrogen proportions significantly affected P. fructicola growth. Proportions of C:N were evaluated according to newly introduced amino acid sugar index (ASI)
The efficacy of teeth performance was estimated, the working shapes of which were different. The estimation was based on measurments of open soil and the values of soil resistance. Laboratory and ...field tests were conducted.
The phase III ALEX study in patients with treatment-naive advanced anaplastic lymphoma kinase mutation-positive (ALK+) non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) met its primary end point of improved ...progression-free survival (PFS) with alectinib versus crizotinib. Here, we present detailed central nervous system (CNS) efficacy data from ALEX.
Overall, 303 patients aged ≥18 years underwent 1:1 randomization to receive twice-daily doses of alectinib 600 mg or crizotinib 250 mg. Brain imaging was conducted in all patients at baseline and every subsequent 8 weeks. End points (analyzed by subgroup: patients with/without baseline CNS metastases; patients with/without prior radiotherapy) included PFS, CNS objective response rate (ORR), and time to CNS progression.
In total, 122 patients had Independent Review Committee-assessed baseline CNS metastases (alectinib,n = 64; crizotinib,n = 58), 43 had measurable lesions (alectinib,n = 21; crizotinib,n = 22), and 46 had received prior radiotherapy (alectinib,n = 25; crizotinib,n = 21). Investigator-assessed PFS with alectinib was consistent between patients with baseline CNS metastases hazard ratio (HR) 0.40, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.25–0.64 and those without (HR 0.51, 95% CI: 0.33–0.80,P interaction = 0.36). Similar results were seen in patients regardless of prior radiotherapy. Time to CNS progression was significantly longer with alectinib versus crizotinib and comparable between patients with and without baseline CNS metastases (P < 0.0001). CNS ORR was 85.7% with alectinib versus 71.4% with crizotinib in patients who received prior radiotherapy and 78.6% versus 40.0%, respectively, in those who had not.
Alectinib demonstrated superior CNS activity and significantly delayed CNS progression versus crizotinib in patients with previously untreated, advancedALK+ NSCLC, irrespective of prior CNS disease or radiotherapy.

A two-stage X-, Ku-band monolithic FET amplifier has been developed. Initial results indicate a gain of 7-10 dB across the 8-20 GHz band with a typical rf power output of 100 mW. A balanced amplifier ...consisting of two two-stage amplifiers and a pair of Lange couplers yielded 10.5 +- 1 dB gain from 7.5 to 18 GHz and an output power of 150-250 mW in Ku-band.
