In this paper, the numerical simulation method is used to study the ballistic performances of hourglass lattice sandwich structures with the same mass under the vertical incidence of fragments. ...Attention is paid to elucidating the influences of rod cross-section dimensions, structure height, structure layer, and rod inclination angle on the deformation mode, ballistic performances, and ability to change the ballistic direction of fragments. The results show that the ballistic performances of hourglass lattice sandwich structures are mainly affected by their structural parameters. In this respect, structural parameters optimization of the hourglass lattice sandwich structures enable one to effectively improve their ballistic limit velocity and, consequently, ballistic performances.
Vanadium-based compounds with various crystal structures are highly promising cathode materials for aqueous zinc-based batteries. However, their further development is limited due to the low ...electrical conductivity, slow zinc ion diffusion, and weak structural stability. It is a feasible strategy to resolve above mentioned issues through surface modification. Herein, we design bi-phase coexisting CaV2O6/NaV6O15 nanobelt structures with abundant interfaces, which provide more reactive sites than single-phase ones. The samples as the electrode materials deliver a specific capacity of 312 mAh g−1 at 5 A g−1 after 2000 cycles. They still keep a capacity of 231 mAh g−1 at 10 A g−1 with a cycle life of 6500 times.
An unprecedented Ag-catalyzed addition reaction of cyclopropenones and nitrones to access imides was developed. Sequential C–C bond cleavage, N–O bond cleavage, and Mumm rearrangement were uncovered ...in this process. This protocol exhibited high efficiency, regioselectivity, good yields, and a broad tolerance of various functional groups.
Allergic asthma and obesity are major public health problems in the world. Recent Meta-analysis studies implicated a positive relationship between serum leptin, which is elevated in obese ...individuals, and the risk of asthma. However, it is not well understood how obesity-associated elevation of leptin increases the risk of asthma. In the current study, we have found that leptin induces the unfolded protein response factor XBP1s in an mTOR- and MAPK-dependent manner in pro-allergic TH2 cells; in vivo, mice fed with high fat diet had increased serum leptin as observed in human obese population and exacerbated asthmatic symptoms, associated with increased XBP1s expression in splenic CD4
T cells. XBP1s is required for leptin-mediated pro-allergic TH2 cell survival and cytokine production. Our results reveal a previously unappreciated insight that obesity-associated hyperleptinemia contributes to enhanced pro-allergic lymphocyte responses through induction of XBP1s, leading to exacerbation of allergic asthma.
Tandem repeat genetic profiles used in forensic applications varies between populations. Despite the diversity and security issues in the Sahel that require the identification of victims (soldiers ...and civilians), Burkina Faso (BF) remains understudied. To fill this information gap, 396 unrelated individuals from BF were genotyped using a MICROREADER 21 ID System kit. All 20 short tandem repeat (STR) loci tested passed the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) test. The combined powers of exclusion for duos (CPE duos) and trios (CPE trios) for the 20 tested loci were 0.9999998 and 0.9999307, respectively. The probability that two individuals would share the same DNA profiles among the BF population was 9.80898 × 10
. For the X-chromosome STR analysis, 292 individuals were included in this study using a MICROREADER 19X Direct ID System kit. Among the 19 loci, no significant deviations from HWE test were observed in female samples after Bonferroni correction (p < 0.05/19 = 0.0026), except for loci GATA165B12 and DXS7423. The results showed that the combined power of exclusion (CPE) and the combined power of discrimination in females (CPDF) and males (CPDM) were 0.999999760893, 0.999999999992, and 1, respectively. Comparison with other African sub-populations showed that geographical proximity is a reliable indicator of genetic relatedness.
Y0.5Gd0.5Ba2Cu3O7-σ (YGBCO) and Ho0.5Gd0.5Ba2Cu3O7-σ (HGBCO) targets with similar densities were prepared by solid-phase reaction. Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technology was used to fabricate ...superconducting films with these targets. During the experiments in this paper, we varied the laser energy by adjusting the optical lens. The structure and texture of RE0.5Gd0.5Ba2Cu3O7-σ (REGBCO, where RE = Y, Ho) thin films were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The surface morphology was observed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the superconducting critical current was measured at 77 K using the standard four-probe method. The laser energy density and different doping elements can affect the properties of REGBCO films. This may be related to the ejection process of target particles and the size of rare earth atoms. Additionally, we prepared a 510-meter long second-generation high-temperature superconducting tape with the optimized parameters. The critical current of the tape is 350 A, and the current density is 3.9 × 106 A/cm2.
Psoriasis is a common chronic disease with accelerated epidermal cell growth. Solute carrier family 2 member 1 (SLC2A1), also named GLUT1, transports glucose and its analogues into cells. With ...elevated membrane‐bound GLUT1, psoriatic keratinocytes uptake more glucose with increased glucose metabolism. Competition between glucose and its analogues can serve as a strategy to inhibit glycolysis as well as proliferation. In this study, we investigated the expression patterns of GLUT1 in keratinocytes in the human psoriasis vulgaris and imiquimod‐induced psoriasis model, and determined that the glucose metabolism inhibitor 2‐deoxy‐D‐glucose (2‐DG) can relieve the psoriatic lesions. We found membrane‐enriched GLUT1 in psoriasis keratinocytes, which suggested some potential for glucose metabolic target therapy based on the glycolytic microenvironment. Furthermore, 2‐DG was able to relieve the psoriatic lesions in an in vivo animal model which provides a new possible therapeutic strategy.
The brain has the most complex structures and functions in living organisms, and brain networks can provide us an effective way for brain function analysis and brain disease detection. In brain ...networks, there exist some important neural unit modules, which contain many meaningful biological insights. It is appealing to find the neural unit modules and obtain their affiliations. In this study, we present a novel method by integrating the uniform design into the particle swarm optimization to find community modules of brain networks, abbreviated as UPSO. The difference between UPSO and the existing ones lies in that UPSO is presented first for detecting community modules. Several brain networks generated from functional MRI for studying autism are used to verify the proposed algorithm. Experimental results obtained on these brain networks demonstrate that UPSO can find community modules efficiently and outperforms the other competing methods in terms of modularity and conductance. Additionally, the comparison of UPSO and PSO also shows that the uniform design plays an important role in improving the performance of UPSO.
