To study expression and activation of p38 mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) in vascular endothelial cells dysfunction in preeclampsia.
From Sept. 2009 to Mar. 2010, 54 pregnant women underwent ...deliveries in the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were enrolled in this study, including 20 patients in mild preeclampsia group, 16 patients in severe preeclampsia group and 18 women with term cesarean section without perinatal complications as control group. Placental endothelial cells were labeled by CD₃₄ to assay microvessel density (MVD) of each group. Immunohistochemical SP and western blot were used to detect localization and expression of p-p38 MAPK protein, respectively. The levels of sera soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) and soluble endoglin (sEng) were measured by ELISA.

An N‐allylation of monosubstituted acyl hydrazines with allylic alcohols has been developed by using B(C6F5)3 catalysis. This protocol allows for convenient access to various synthetically useful ...N‐allylated hydrazine products in 48–96% yields with broad substrate scope and wide functional group compatibility. The operationally simple reaction proceeds without calling for stringent removal of air and moisture, and can be readily scaled up to gram scale. Preliminary mechanistic studies support the generation of an allylic carbon cation that is involved in the catalytic cycle, and the reaction proceeds via the in situ formation of diallyl ethers as intermediates.
The increasing automobile repair industries (ARIs) with spray facilities have become an important volatile organic compound (VOC) pollution source in China. However, the VOC health risk assessment ...for long-term exposure in ARIs has not been well characterized. In this study, though sampled VOCs from 51 typical ARIs in Beijing, the relationship between emission patterns, average daily exposure concentrations (EC), and health risks was comprehensively analyzed with the health assessment method. Results showed that concentrations of 117 VOCs from the samples ranged from 68.53 to 19863.32 μg·m

, while the ARI operator’s daily VOC inhalation EC was 11.24–1460.70 μg·m

. The organic VOC (OVOC) concentration accounted for 73.16 ~ 94.52% in the solvent-based paint workshops, while aromatics were the main VOC component in water-based paint spraying (WPS) workshops, accounting for 70.08%, respectively. And the method of inhalation exposure health risk assessment was firstly used to evaluate carcinogenicity and non-carcinogenicity risk for sprayers in ARIs. ) for 24 sampled VOCs were within acceptable ranges, while the mean hazard index (
HI
) for 1 year with 44 sampled VOCs was over 1. Among them, ethyl alcohol had a high carcinogenic risk in both mixed water-based paint (MP) and solvent-based paint workshops. The mean

associated with aromatics were 2.88E − 3 and 4.30E − 3 for 1 h in MP and WPS workshops. O-ethyl toluene and acetone are VOC components that need to be paid attention to in future paint raw materials and spraying operations. Our study will provide the important references for the standard of VOC occupational exposure health limits in ARIs.
Cobalt‐catalyzed selective transformation of levulinic acid and primary amines into pyrrolidines and pyrrolidinones under H2 has been developed. The catalyst system consisting of Co(NTf2)2, ...1,1,1‐tris(di(4‐methoxyphenyl)phosphinomethyl) ethane ((p‐anisyl)triphos) and Me3SiOTf works well for the synthesis of pyrrolidines via reductive amination/cyclization/deoxygenative reduction of amide, and using Co(NTf2)2/1,1,1‐tris(diphenylphosphinomethyl) ethane (triphos) as the catalyst under reduced hydrogen pressure results in exclusive formation of pyrrolidinones. Both aryl and alkyl primary amines are suitable substrates, and a variety of functional groups are tolerated. Meanwhile, 4‐oxo‐4‐arylbutanoic acids, 5‐oxohexanoic acid, 6‐oxoheptanoic acid, 2‐formylbenzoic acid, 2‐acetylbenzoic acid and 2′‐acetyl‐1,1′‐biphenyl‐2‐carboxylic acid are also applicable, allowing for convenient access to cyclic amines and lactams with different ring size.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is prevalent in China and screening of blood donors is mandatory. Up to now, ELISA has been universally used by the China blood bank. However, this strategy has sometimes ...failed due to the high frequency of nucleoside acid mutations. Understanding HBV evolution and strain diversity could help devise a better screening system for blood donors. However, this kind of information in China, especially in the northwest region, is lacking. In the present study, serological markers and the HBV DNA load of 11 samples from blood donor candidates from northwest China were determined. The HBV strains were most clustered into B and C genotypes and could not be clustered into similar types from reference sequences. Subsequent testing showed liver function impairment and increasing virus load in the positive donors. This HBV evolutionary data for China will allow for better ELISA and NAT screening efficiency in the blood bank of China, especially in the northwest region.
