The results of a study of structure and mechanical properties of welding joints, superconducting characteristics of the material after joining of welded components of superconducting radio frequency ...cavities are presented. The paper also describes the results of testing of the RF 1.3 GHz single-cell niobium cavity manufactured in the PTI NAS Belarus.
Differential elliptic flow spectra v2(pT) of π−, KS0, p, Λ have been measured at sNN=17.3 GeV around midrapidity by the CERN-CERES/NA45 experiment in mid-central Pb+Au collisions (10% of σgeo). The ...pT range extends from about 0.1 GeV/c (0.55 GeV/c for Λ) to more than 2 GeV/c. Protons below 0.4 GeV/c are directly identified by dE/dx. At higher pT, proton elliptic flow is derived as a constituent, besides π+ and K+, of the elliptic flow of positive pion candidates. This retrieval requires additional inputs: (i) of the particle composition, and (ii) of v2(pT) of positive pions. For (i), particle ratios obtained by NA49 are adapted to CERES conditions; for (ii), the measured v2(pT) of negative pions is substituted, assuming π+ and π− elliptic flow magnitudes to be sufficiently close. The v2(pT) spectra are compared to ideal-hydrodynamics calculations. In synopsis of the series π−–KS0–p–Λ, flow magnitudes are seen to fall with decreasing pT progressively even below hydro calculations with early kinetic freeze-out (Tf=160 MeV) leaving not much time for hadronic evolution. The proton v2(pT) data show a downward swing towards low pT with excursions into negative v2 values. The pion-flow isospin asymmetry observed recently by STAR at RHIC, invalidating in principle our working assumption, is found in its impact on proton flow bracketed from above by the direct proton flow data, and not to alter any of our conclusions. Results are discussed in perspective of recent viscous hydrodynamics studies which focus on late hadronic stages.
HADES is a running spectrometer installed at GSI, Germany. PANDA and CBM are planned detector systems for the new FAIR facility at GSI. For these detectors, a general-purpose trigger and readout ...board with on-board DAQ functionality was developed. The original motivation for this project was the implementation of a 128-channel time to digital converter (TDC) with a time resolution of sigma=40 ps based on the HPTDC chip from CERN into a fully fledged data acquisition system. The application of the board is detector independent, includes a 2 Gbit/s optical link and has the option to employ the TDC chips and/or to integrate versatile add-on boards through 16 Gbit/s connectors. The latter one may interface to the front end electronics of other types of detectors. A large FPGA (Xilinx Virtex 4 LX40) and a TigerSharc DSP can be used as on-board resources for trigger and on-line analysis algorithms. Data transfer to mass storage and slow control is done via an ETRAX processor running Linux and a 100 Mbit/s Ethernet interface.
The project for a new injector linac for the Nuclotron–NICA accelerator tandem has been under development since 2015. The linac will accelerate protons and light ions to energies of 25 MeV and ∼7.5 ...MeV/nucleon, respectively. To fulfill the project, technology for fabricating superconducting RF cavities needs to be developed. The current status of the project, including the linac design, the required parameters of RF cavities, and our simulations of beam dynamics, is presented. Technological restrictions on the RF cavity parameters are discussed.
Based on an evaluation of data on pion interferometry and on particle yields at midrapidity, we propose a universal condition for thermal freeze-out of pions in heavy-ion collisions. We show that ...freeze-out occurs when the mean free path of pions lambda(f) reaches a value of about 1 fm, which is much smaller than the spatial extent of the system at freeze-out. This critical mean free path is independent of the centrality of the collision and beam energy from the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron to the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider.

We present a search for the e+e− decay of a hypothetical dark photon, also named U vector boson, in inclusive dielectron spectra measured by HADES in the p(3.5 GeV) + p, Nb reactions, as well as the ...Ar (1.756 GeV/u) + KCl reaction. An upper limit on the kinetic mixing parameter squared ϵ2 at 90% CL has been obtained for the mass range MU=0.02–0.55 GeV/c2 and is compared with the present world data set. For masses 0.03–0.1 GeV/c2, the limit has been lowered with respect to previous results, allowing now to exclude a large part of the parameter region favored by the muon g−2 anomaly. Furthermore, an improved upper limit on the branching ratio of 2.3×10−6 has been set on the helicity-suppressed direct decay of the eta meson, η→e+e−, at 90% CL.
