We describe the status of the new measurement of the neutron electric dipole moment (nEDM) to be performed at the strong source of ultra-cold neutrons at the Paul Scherrer Institut. The experimental ...technique is based on Ramsey's method of separated oscillatory fields, applied to UCN stored in vacuum in a chamber at room temperature. Our approach is performed in three phases: in phase one, new components have been developed and tested at the Institut Laue-Langevin. Phase two is being performed at PSI, where the apparatus was moved in 2009. Here, together with the optimization of the magnetic environment, the prospective UCN density of ∼ 100 cm
-3 should enable an improvement of the currently best limit by a factor of five within two years of data taking. In the third phase, a new spectrometer will then gain another order of magnitude in sensitivity. The improvements will be mainly due to (1) much higher UCN intensity, (2) improved magnetometry and magnetic field control, and (3) a double chamber configuration with opposite electric field directions.

Die posttraumatische Kyphose (PTK) kann die Folge einer übersehenen Fraktur, einer falsch indizierten konservativen Behandlung oder einer falsch durchgeführten operativen Therapie ...sein. Ebenso tritt sie als schicksalhafter Verlauf einer adäquat durchgeführten Behandlung auf. Der Vermeidung der PTK kommt eine große Bedeutung zu, da die nachfolgenden operativen Eingriffe aufwendig sind. In der operativen Therapie sind eine sorgfältige Planung und eine große chirurgische Erfahrung mit ventralen und dorsalen Revisionseingriffen notwendig. Auch müssen die verschiedenen Osteotomietechniken beherrscht werden, welche die Korrektur sowohl der lokalen als auch globalen Deformität ermöglichen. Auch Kenntnisse der sagittalen und der spinopelvinen Balance sind unabdingbar bei der Behandlung der PTK. Die eigenen Erfahrungen als auch die Literaturergebnisse zeigen, dass nur bei Beachtung sowohl der biomechanischen Gesetzmäßigkeiten als auch bei Wiederherstellung der sagittalen Balance gute Langzeitergebnisse bei geringen Komplikationen erzielt werden können.

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is capable of powering both of these responses and as such, will be the foundation of profitable PSTN evolution. There are many advantages to incorporating SIP directly on the Class 4 and Class 5 switches. This approach enables efficient PSTN/IP network interconnection, as well as creating the ability for PSTN calls to be carried over the IP network, the beginnings of true network convergence. At least as important as the network convergence is the service convergence that will be possible via this model. The greatest value of SIP may come in its ability to be used in various network configurations and architectures. This allows service providers to take advantage of SIP and IP without requiring conversion to an all-IP/SIP infrastructure.
Antioxidants can be divided into two broad classes, primary and secondary, depending upon their mode of action. The most broadly used primary antioxidants are hindered phenols. Phenolic antioxidants ...have traditionally been based on 2,6‐di‐t‐butyl‐4‐methylphenol (BHT). This functional moiety has been incorporated into larger molecules affording products with lower volatility or greater polymer compatibility. More recently, molecules have been introduced which vary in steric hindrance about the phenol and also the way in which multiple phenol functional groups are linked to form larger molecules. This has led to structures which have lower color contribution. Surprisingly, in some cases these molecules have shown higher levels of efficacy relative to other antioxidants with similar phenol/molecular weight ratios. This has included enhanced levels of synergism with secondary antioxidants. An attempt is made to correlate structural features of these molecules to the enhanced performance and/or lower color.
We present the result of an experiment to measure the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the neutron at the Paul Scherrer Institute using Ramsey's method of separated oscillating magnetic fields with ...ultracold neutrons (UCN). Our measurement stands in the long history of EDM experiments probing physics violating time reversal invariance. The salient features of this experiment were the use of a Hg-199 co-magnetometer and an array of optically pumped cesium vapor magnetometers to cancel and correct for magnetic field changes. The statistical analysis was performed on blinded datasets by two separate groups while the estimation of systematic effects profited from an unprecedented knowledge of the magnetic field. The measured value of the neutron EDM is \(d_{\rm n} = (0.0\pm1.1_{\rm stat}\pm0.2_{\rm sys})\times10^{-26}e\,{\rm cm}\).
