Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare tumor with an indolent course. It is less often reported as a second tumor that occurs after treatment of malignant tumors in pediatric patients. ...Here, we report a case of IMT following Wilms tumor (WT), and conduct a literature review concerning IMTs and WT to evaluate the diagnostic possibility of IMT as a second tumor. The coexistence of the 2 tumors may cause confusion as to whether they share genetic links or that IMTs may appear as late effects of the treatment of WT.
The application of traditional chemically crosslinked hydrogels is often limited by poor mechanical properties because of their own inhomogeneous network and irreversible crosslinking bonds. Herein, ...physical interactions are applied to crosslink the interpenetrating network hydrogel, i.e., hydrogen bonding and crystalline domain for polyvinyl alcohol network, and hydrophobic interaction inside micelle for poly (acrylamide‐co‐stearyl methyl acrylate) P(AAm‐co‐SMA) network. In this gel network system, reversible energy dissipation mechanism is realized by dissociation and reassociation of weak interactions including hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interaction inside the micelle. Strong crystalline domains serve as permanent crosslinking interactions to maintain network integrity under large extension. As a result, the synergy of weak and strong interactions leads to tough, antifatigue, fast recovery, and self‐healing properties of the hydrogel. This proposed strategy of achieving versatile hydrogels can broaden the use of hydrogels into load‐bearing applications.

Toxoplasma gondii
is an opportunistic protozoan parasite that is highly prevalent in the human population and can lead to adverse health consequences in immunocompromised patients and pregnant women. ...Noncoding RNAs, such as microRNAs (miRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs), play important regulatory roles in the pathogenesis of many infections. However, the differentially expressed (DE) miRNAs and circRNAs implicated in the host cell response during the lytic cycle of
T. gondii
are unknown. In this study, we profiled the expression of miRNAs and circRNAs in human foreskin fibroblasts (HFFs) at different time points after
T. gondii
infection using RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). We identified a total of 7, 7, 27, 45, 70, 148, 203, and 217 DEmiRNAs and 276, 355, 782, 1863, 1738, 6336, 1229, and 1680 DEcircRNAs at 1.5, 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, 36, and 48 h post infection (hpi), respectively. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analyses revealed that the DE transcripts were enriched in immune response, apoptosis, signal transduction, and metabolism-related pathways. These findings provide new insight into the involvement of miRNAs and circRNAs in the host response to
T. gondii
infection.
Purple (Pr) mutant cauliflower has a bright color and high nutritional value. During postharvest storage, purple cauliflower fades in color and gradually develops a pungent flavor, which directly ...affects its commercial value. In this study, six anthocyanin-related metabolites were identified in postharvest Pr mutants via metabolomic analyses. Gene–metabolite association analysis revealed that 6-gingerol was the main component responsible for the pungent flavor of the Pr mutant, and that this compound was a component of the stilbenoid, diarylheptanoid, and gingerol biosynthesis pathways. The pungent flavor was correlated with the expression level of caffeoyl coenzyme A O-methyltransferase (CCoAOMT). In vitro experiments confirmed that the transcription factor (TF) BoMYB2 specifically binds to the BoCCoAOMT promoter through the MBS site. Additionally, transient expression analysis confirmed that BoMYB2 negatively regulates BoCCoAOMT transcription and promotes 6-gingerol accumulation, thereby influencing flavor formation in the Pr mutant. Our findings reveal the key genes and TF for the flavor-related transcriptional regulatory mechanism of postharvest Pr mutant cauliflower, and provide a valuable basis for developing postharvest preservation technology for commercial crops.
•Pungency in postharvest Pr mutant is associated with stilbenoid, diarylheptanoid and gingerol.•Transcriptional level of BoCCoAOMT indirectly affects 6-gingerol accumulation.•BoMYB2 is a transcriptional repressor of pungency flavor formation.•Cyanidins unique to red cauliflower are identified for the first time in Pr mutant.
Ionic liquids have been widely used to improve the efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), and are generally believed to passivate defects on the grain boundaries of perovskites. ...However, few studies have focused on the relevant effects of ionic liquids on intragrain defects in perovskites which have been shown to be critical for the performance of PSCs. In this work, the effect of ionic liquid 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium iodide (HMII) on intragrain defects of formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI
) perovskite is investigated. Abundant {111}
intragrain planar defects in pure FAPbI
grains are found to be significantly reduced by the addition of the ionic liquid HMII, shown by using ultra-low-dose selected area electron diffraction. As a result, longer charge carrier lifetimes, higher photoluminescence quantum yield, better charge carrier transport properties, lower Urbach energy, and current-voltage hysteresis are achieved, and the champion power conversion efficiency of 24.09% is demonstrated. These observations suggest that ionic liquids significantly improve device performance resulting from the elimination of {111}
intragrain planar defects.

Appraisal of cancer survival is essential for cancer control, but studies related to gynecological cancer are scarce. Using cancer registration data, we conducted an in-depth survival analysis of ...cervical, uterine corpus, and ovarian cancers in an urban district of Shanghai during 2002–2013.
The follow-up data of gynecological cancer from the Changning District of Shanghai, China, were used to estimate the 1–5-year observed survival rate (OSR) and relative survival rate (RSR) by time periods and age groups during 2002–2013. Age-standardized relative survival rates estimated by the international cancer survival standards were calculated during 2002–2013 to describe the prognosis of cervical, uterine corpus, and ovarian cancers among women in the district.
In total, 1307 gynecological cancer cases were included in the survival analysis in the district during 2002–2013. Among gynecological cancers, the 5-year OSRs and RSRs of uterine corpus cancer were highest (5-year OSR 84.40%, 5-year RSR 87.67%), followed by those of cervical cancer (5-year OSR 73.58%, 5-year RSR 75.91%), and those of ovarian cancer (5-year OSR 53.89%, 5-year RSR 55.90%). After age adjustment, the 5-year relative survival rates of three gynecological cancers were 71.23%, 80.11%, and 43.27%, respectively.
The 5-year relative survival rate did not show a systematic temporal trend in cervical cancer, uterine cancer, or ovarian cancer. The prognosis in elderly patients was not optimistic, and this needs a more advanced strategy for early diagnosis and treatment. The age structure of gynecological cancer patients in the district tended to be younger than the standardized age, which implies that more attention to the guidance and health education for the younger generation is needed.

Crystallography of α precipitates in a Ti-8 wt% Fe (Ti-8Fe) alloy is investigated in this study. The precipitates were observed to exhibit a lath morphology with a well-defined habit plane containing ...a single set of dislocations. The orientation relationship between the precipitates and matrix, the elongated direction of the lath, the orientation of the habit plane, and the dislocation structures in the habit plane have been characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). These crystallographic features of the precipitates were interpreted by the O-line model. The interfacial energy of various O-line interfaces was calculated using molecular dynamics. The calculated result shows a rather flat low energy region. The interfacial energy of the habit plane falls in this region, indicating that low interfacial energy can account for the observed crystallography of the precipitates in this titanium alloy. It also implies true scattering of crystallography of α precipitates. Results of other Ti alloys are discussed, and they can be similarly explained.
•The crystallography of α precipitates in Ti-8Fe has been quantitatively characterized in detail.•The observations could be well explained by the crystallography model.•The interfacial energy of the habit plane was calculated by molecular dynamics to interpret the observations.•An energy valley indicates true scattering likely exists among the crystallography of different titanium alloys.
Purpose
Percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). It is generally considered that there is little ...blood loss during the surgery. However, a significant perioperative hidden blood loss (HBL) is neglected. This study was to examine the amount of HBL and determine the influential factors during PKP.
Methods
From January 2015 to January 2016, 115 patients with OVCFs who were scheduled to have a PKP were enrolled in this study. The factors analyzed included gender, age, body mass index (BMI), percentage of vertebral height loss, percentage of vertebral height restoration, number of fracture levels, bone mineral density (BMD), duration of symptom, cement leakage, and other internal diseases (hypertension, diabetes mellitus). According to Gross’s formula, each patient’s height, weight, and pre-operative and post-operative hematocrit were recorded and used for calculating the blood loss. Influential factors were further analyzed by multivariate linear regression analysis and
t
test.
Results
The mean HBL was 282 ± 162 mL (mL) and the post-operative Hb loss was 8.7 ± 5.4 g per liter (g/L). According to multivariate linear regression analysis, patients with severe vertebral height loss (
P
= 0.016), better vertebral height restoration (
P
= 0.038), and multi-segmental vertebral fractures (
P
= 0.000) had a higher amount of HBL. Fresh fractures (
P
= 0.008) and cement leakage (
P
= 0.004) were also important factors to increase HBL, whereas gender (
P
= 0.642), age (
P
= 0.203), BMI (
P
= 0.075), hypertension (
P
= 0.099), diabetes mellitus (
P
= 0.905), and BMD (
P
= 0.521) were not correlate with HBL. When we compared the incidence of anemia between pre-operative and post-operative, we found that the incidence of anemia was significantly associated with HBL (
P
= 0.000).
Conclusions
HBL cannot be ignored in perioperative period, especially for poor physical condition and multiple fractures patients. Having a correct understanding of HBL can help improve clinical assessment capabilities, ensuring patients’ safety.
