The Javalambre Photometric Local Universe Survey (J-PLUS ) is an ongoing 12-band photometric optical survey, observing thousands of square degrees of the Northern Hemisphere from the dedicated ...JAST/T80 telescope at the Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre (OAJ). The T80Cam is a camera with a field of view of 2 deg2 mounted on a telescope with a diameter of 83 cm, and is equipped with a unique system of filters spanning the entire optical range (3500–10 000 Å). This filter system is a combination of broad-, medium-, and narrow-band filters, optimally designed to extract the rest-frame spectral features (the 3700–4000 Å Balmer break region, Hδ, Ca H+K, the G band, and the Mg b and Ca triplets) that are key to characterizing stellar types and delivering a low-resolution photospectrum for each pixel of the observed sky. With a typical depth of AB ∼21.25 mag per band, this filter set thus allows for an unbiased and accurate characterization of the stellar population in our Galaxy, it provides an unprecedented 2D photospectral information for all resolved galaxies in the local Universe, as well as accurate photo-z estimates (at the δ z/(1 + z)∼0.005–0.03 precision level) for moderately bright (up to r ∼ 20 mag) extragalactic sources. While some narrow-band filters are designed for the study of particular emission features (O II/λ3727, Hα/λ6563) up to z < 0.017, they also provide well-defined windows for the analysis of other emission lines at higher redshifts. As a result, J-PLUS has the potential to contribute to a wide range of fields in Astrophysics, both in the nearby Universe (Milky Way structure, globular clusters, 2D IFU-like studies, stellar populations of nearby and moderate-redshift galaxies, clusters of galaxies) and at high redshifts (emission-line galaxies at z ≈ 0.77, 2.2, and 4.4, quasi-stellar objects, etc.). With this paper, we release the first ∼1000 deg2 of J-PLUS data, containing about 4.3 million stars and 3.0 million galaxies at r < 21 mag. With a goal of 8500 deg2 for the total J-PLUS footprint, these numbers are expected to rise to about 35 million stars and 24 million galaxies by the end of the survey.
Aim
To evaluate, using a novel micro‐CT approach, the solubility and dimensional changes of an MTA‐based sealer inside the root canal system after a solubility challenge. The MTA‐based material (MTA ...Fillapex) was compared to a gold standard epoxy‐based endodontic sealer (AH Plus).
Methodology
Ten human mandibular premolars with a single canal were divided randomly into two groups (n = 5) according to the sealer used. The canals were instrumented using the Reciproc System (VDW) with a R40 file and filled with R40 gutta‐percha cones and one of the sealers. The filled canals were immediately scanned in a micro‐CT, and after that, the teeth were immersed in 20 mL phosphate‐buffered saline (PBS) at 37 °C for 7 days, when they were removed and rescanned. Final image stacks were registered against the initial stacks and the numerical difference between the initial and final volume of the filling material was obtained. Calculations were performed to identify dimensional changes of the filling material. All image stacks were 3D rendered to disclose areas of dislocation of the filling material inside or outside the root canal. The Shapiro–Wilk's test revealed that data were normally distributed; thus, the Student's t‐test was used to detect statistically significant changes, assuming a 5% α‐error.
Results
No significant changes were seen for the percentage volume of material lost after the solubility challenge for both AH Plus and MTA Fillapex groups (1.44% and 1.16%, respectively). A significant difference was, however, found for the volume of filling material which revealed dimensional changes after the solubility test (6.68% for MTA Fillapex and 1.09% for AH Plus). In fact, observation of 3D models disclosed that MTA Fillapex was associated with material extrusion through the foramen in all but one sample. In AH Plus filled samples, no material extrusion was detected.
Conclusions
Although the solubility of both sealers was similar using this novel micro‐CT approach, MTA Fillapex was associated with significant dimensional changes related to material extrusion through the apex after PBS storage compared to AH Plus.

Commercial poly(ethylene glycol-co-1,4 cyclohexanedimethanol terephthalate) (PETG) foils were irradiated with 16 MeV Au7+ ions and the resulting modifications in the polymer chemical structure, ...optical properties, and surface hydrophobicity were analyzed. Under irradiation, PETG displays a redshift in the optical absorbance edge, accompanied by a decrease in the optical gap from 3.8 eV to 2.4 eV. An overall decrease of characteristic functional groups is observed with damage cross sections varying from (1–2) × 10-13 cm2. New bands are formed linked mainly to oxidation and formation of conjugated carbon–carbon double bonds. The hydrophilicity of the irradiated surfaces increases possibly due to surface oxidation.
Heavy metals are low molecular weight elements which at certain concentrations can cause environmental problems as they accumulate. These metals can be toxic depending on their concentration despite ...being essential to the metabolism of most organisms. Their accumulation in the environment is mainly due to anthropogenic actions which are difficult to revert. In this context, bacteria have been used to efficiently bioremediate the environment. The aim of this study was to map heavy metal resistant genes from bacterial communities in the Riacho dos Macacos compared to those from Rio Grangeiro, used as the environmental control due to its low heavy metal concentration. The samples were prepared by removing the soil and taking these to a laboratory for DNA extraction and subsequent sequencing using the Illumina Miseq kit. Physico-chemical analysis was also performed to quantify the heavy metal concentration in samples. The data were input in the MG-RAST and analyzed. Various genes associated with copper resistance such as Cu ATPase, multicopper oxidase, czc as well as genes associated with zinc resistance were found, especially from the czc family. In the resistant gene taxonomic analysis, the most common bacterial phyla were Proteobacteria with 49.96% and 59.29%, and Actinobacteria with 23.55 and 12.06% in Riacho dos Macacos and Rio Grangeiro, respectively. Other phyla totaled only 27.63% and 32.12%, respectively.

Abstract The present study investigated whether the effects of central cholinergic stimulation on thermoregulation during exercise are modulated by arterial baroreceptors. Wistar rats were submitted ...to sinoaortic denervation (SAD) or sham denervation (SHAM) and then fitted with a chronic guide cannula into the lateral cerebral ventricle. After 2 weeks, a catheter was implanted into the ascending aorta, and a temperature sensor was implanted into the peritoneal cavity. Two days later, the rats were submitted to exercise on a treadmill at 18 m/min until fatigued. Thermoregulatory and cardiovascular responses were measured after injection of 2 μL of 10 mM physostigmine (Phy) or 0.15 M NaCl solution (Sal) into the cerebral ventricle. In SHAM rats, Phy injection induced a greater exercise-induced increase in blood pressure and lower increase in heart rate than Sal treatment. In the SAD group, the attenuation of heart rate in response to Phy was blocked despite an exaggerated increase in blood pressure. SHAM rats treated with Phy had a higher increase in tail skin temperature compared to Sal injection (31.9 ± 0.4 °C Phy-SHAM vs. 30.1 ± 0.6 °C Sal-SHAM, 5 min after injection; p < 0.05), resulting in a lower exercise-induced increase in core temperature. In contrast, SAD blocked the Phy injection effects in thermoregulatory responses during exercise (tail temperature: 30.1 ± 1.2 °C Phy-SAD vs. 29.5 ± 1.2 °C Sal-SAD, 5 min, p = 0.65). Therefore, we conclude that the enhancement of cutaneous heat loss induced by central cholinergic stimulation during exercise is mediated primarily by arterial baroreceptors.
We investigated the effects of dietary trans fatty acids, PUFA, and SFA on body and liver fat content, liver histology, and mRNA of enzymes involved in fatty acid metabolism. LDL receptor knockout ...weaning male mice were fed for 16 wk with diets containing 40% energy as either trans fatty acids (TRANS), PUFA, or SFA. Afterwards, subcutaneous and epididymal fat were weighed and histological markers of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) were assessed according to the Histological Scoring System for NAFLD. PPARα, PPARγ, microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP), carnitine palmitoyl transferase 1 (CPT-1), and sterol regulatory element binding protein-1c (SREBP-1c) mRNA were measured by quantitative RT-PCR. Food intake was similar in the 3 groups, although mice fed the TRANS diet gained less weight than those receiving the PUFA diet. Compared with the PUFA- and SFA-fed mice, TRANS-fed mice had greater plasma total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG) concentrations, less epididymal and subcutaneous fat, larger livers with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)-like lesions, and greater liver TC and TG concentrations. Macrosteatosis in TRANS-fed mice was associated with a higher homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMAIR) index and upregulated mRNA related to hepatic fatty acid synthesis (SREBP-1c and PPARγ) and to downregulated MTP mRNA. Diet consumption did not alter hepatic mRNA related to fatty acid oxidation (PPARα and CPT-1). In conclusion, compared with PUFA- and SFA-fed mice, TRANS-fed mice had less adiposity, impaired glucose tolerance characterized by greater HOMAIR index, and NASH-like lesions due to greater hepatic lipogenesis. These results demonstrate the role of trans fatty acid intake on the development of key features of metabolic syndrome.
Integrated control tactics are often necessary for pest management. This is especially true for organisms such as the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch. The management of this mite ...pest species relies on pesticide use, but its short life cycle associated with high selection pressure results in frequent problems of acaricide resistance and population outbreaks. Therefore, combining acaricides and natural enemies is an appealing strategy for managing this pest species. The predatory mite Neoseiulus idaeus Denmark & Muma (Phytoseiidae) is important in arid environments, where other natural enemies show low efficacy. Thus, we investigated the effects of representative acaricides used for managing spider mites around the world in several crops (i.e., abamectin, fenpyroximate, and azadirachtin), on the functional and numerical responses of the phytoseid predator N. idaeus to increasing egg densities of its prey. Acaricide exposure did not affect the type of N. idaeus functional response or attack rate (a). However, acaricide exposure decreased the amount of consumed prey and increased prey handling time (Th). All acaricides affected the numerical response of the predator, which reduced oviposition rates. Therefore, caution is required in attempts to integrate the control methods.

Objective
To evaluate the association between sociodemographic and obstetric factors and the health‐related quality of life of pregnant women in high‐risk prenatal care.
Methods
A cross‐sectional ...study of women in high‐risk prenatal care in Ceara, Brazil. The investigated outcomes were health‐related quality of life, using the Medical Outcomes Study 36‐item short‐form health survey; the investigated covariates were sociodemographic and obstetric data. Associative analyses were performed using the Jamovi® software version 0.9.
Results
Of the 276 women included in the study, women with the following characteristics presented a better quality of life in some domain of the scale: age equal to or greater than 35 years, higher income per dependent, religious, living with three or fewer persons, with their own home, in primigestation, nulliparous, with no history of previous abortion, and with up to two living children. The regression model showed an association between the total scale score, which means a higher quality of life in women with age equal to or greater than 35 years and a higher income per dependent.
Conclusion
The study identified sociodemographic and obstetric factors that may affect the quality of life of high‐risk pregnant women, providing subsidies to health providers so that they can promote better prenatal care.

Chitosan (CH) was N-alkylated via Schiff base formation and further reduced via sodium borohydride. The reaction was carried out at room temperature, in a homogeneous aqueous medium, using as a ...source of alkyl group an essential oil (Eucalyptus staigeriana) containing an unsaturated aldehyde (3,7-dimethylocta-2,6-dienal). Derivatives were characterized by Infrared Spectroscopy, proton and carbon Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, XRD, particle size distribution and zeta potential. Chitosan hydrophobization evidence was given by FTIR as new bands at 2929 cm−1 due to methyl groups, along with the presence of strong band at 1580 cm−1 owing to N substitution. Moreover, carbon and proton NMR corroborated the insertion of methyl groups in chitosan backbone. The degree of substitution was found to be in the range 0.69–1.44. X-ray diffractograms revealed that the insertion of alkyl substituents in chitosan backbone led to a less crystalline material. Data from antibacterial activity revealed that chitosan and derivatives were effective against Gram-positive bacteria, whereby derivatives exhibited greater inhibitory effect than CH. Derivatives are likely candidates for use as carriers for active principles of interest of food, pharmacy and medicine.
