(1) (Zw&W). Opnamen van Brugge, het Minnewater met het Begijnhof en de Kruispoort waar Belgische soldaten (dus opname uit of voor 1914) de wacht houden.
(2) (Getint). Een scène van twee mannen die met elkaar discussiëren. De een gezeten en gefilmd vanaf de rug houdt een document in de hand. De ander (met kwaadaardige blik) komt naderbij en verscheurt het document.
(3) (Ingekleurd). Een vrouw komt op: zij heeft een schild, zwaard en (ingekleurde) Belgische vlag in de hand.
(4) (Zw&W). Belgische cavaleriesoldaten en fietsers op weg.
(5) (Ingekleurd). De vrouw met Belgische vlag in de hand buigt het hoofd en wordt bijgestaan door drie andere vrouwen. Zij hebben een Britse, Franse en Russische (tsaristische) vlag in de hand en houden hun zwaard beschermend boven het hoofd van de Belgische vrouw, die weer nieuwe hoop vindt.
(6) (Zw&W - getint). Actualiteitsbeelden van Britse en Franse officieren (o.a. koning Georges V) die Franse soldaten inspecteren. Daarna is er een rood ingekleurd beeld van een brandende stad.
(7) (Zw&W). Inval van Gent door de Duitsers. Vermoedelijk gefilmd vanuit een raam op een verdieping zien we hoe Duitse soldaten (artillerie - cavalerie - infanterie) voorbij een gebouw trekken (Postgebouw op de Korenmarkt).

(8) (Zw&W). De Belgische troepen trekken zich terug naar de IJzer. Het zijn in feite dezelfde troepen van daarnet, maar nu vanaf de rug gefilmd. Dit accentueert het effect als zouden de Belgen op de vlucht zijn.
(9) (Zw&W). October 1914: de Belgische regering is naar Havre overgebracht. In feite zien we slechts opnamen van twee hotels.
(10) (Getint). Z.E. kardinaal Mercier. Close-up van de kardinaal, gevolgd door opnamen in een ziekenhuis. Een Brits ziekenhuis (op de deur staat "ward" (= zaal) geschreven).
(11) (Zw&W). De oorlog is beëindigd. Verfilmde tekeningen die landelijke scènes zoals een herder, een zaaier, een ploeger, een hout sprokkelaarster en een visser voorstellen.
(12) (Ingekleurd). Soldaten van verschillende naties - de Franse, Russische, Britse, Italiaanse en Japanse vlaggen zijn duidelijk te herkennen - paraderen voor een podium.
