O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar os níveis de aptidão física relacionado à saúde e ao desempenho motor de jovens de 11 a 14 anos de uma escola pública de Manaus/Am. Participaram do estudo ...100 jovens com idade entre 11 a 14 anos, sendo 31 do sexo feminino e 69 do sexo masculino. O instrumento utilizado foi a bateria de teste e medidas PROESP-BR contendo os testes de aptidão física relacionada à saúde e ao desempenho como: IMC (peso/altura2); aptidão cardiorrespiratória; resistência abdominal; Flexibilidade; força explosiva de membros inferiores e superiores; agilidade e velocidade. Para verificar a normalidade dos dados, utilizou-se o teste kolmogorov-Smirnov, para verificar a diferença nas variáveis da aptidão física entre as diferentes idades utilizou-se a análise de variância (ANOVA) seguida do teste post hoc de Bonferroni. O teste t-Student para amostras independentes e teste U de Mann Whitney foi utilizado para comparar as médias em relação ao sexo. Observa-se uma tendência a melhoria em todas as variáveis conforme o aumento da idade para ambos os sexos. Os meninos apresentaram melhore resultados que as meninas nas variáveis aptidão cardiorrespiratória (p=0,00); força explosiva de membros inferiores (p=0,004); membros superiores (p=0,01); velocidade (p=0,00) e agilidade (p=0,01). Pode-se observar ainda que na resistência muscular, força explosiva de membros superiores e agilidade os jovens não atenderam aos critérios do proesp-br. Alguns resultados estão de acordo com aqueles encontrados por outros estudos relacionado à aptidão física de crianças e jovens em diferentes regiões do país. Palavras-chave: Aptidão física. Saúde. Evaluation of physical fitness in young people a public school in Manaus The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of physical fitness related to health and youth engine performance 11-14 years in a public school in Manaus / Am. The study included 100 young people aged 11-14 years, 31 female and 69 male. The instrument used was the test battery and PROESP-BR measures containing the physical fitness test related to health and performance: BMI (weight / height 2); cardiorespiratory fitness; abdominal strength; Flexibility; power of lower and upper limbs; agility and speed. To verify the normality of the data, we used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to detect differences in the variables of physical fitness among different ages used the analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by post hoc Bonferroni. The Student t test for independent samples and Mann Whitney U test was used to compare means in relation to sex. There has been a tendency to improvement in all variables with increasing age for both sexes. The boys showed better results than girls in cardiorespiratory fitness variables (p = 0.00); explosive force of lower limbs (p = 0.004); upper limbs (p = 0.01); velocity (p = 0.00) and speed (p = 0.01). One can also observe that the muscular endurance, explosive strength of upper limbs and agility young people did not meet the PROESP Forums criteria. Some results are consistent with those found by other studies related to the physical fitness of children and young people in different regions of the country. Key words: Physical fitness. Health.
