Članek obravnava odnos med religioznostjo in velikodušnostjo do migrantov v sodobni Evropi.
We researched the COVID-19 pandemic as a give-some social dilemma. The success of solving the dilemma depends on an adequate proportion of cooperative actors. We were interested in the difference ...between how religious and non-religious Slovenian citizens reported their level of cooperation with government measures aimed at limiting the spread of the virus during the pandemic. Our research shows that during the first wave of the epidemic in Slovenia, religious citizens were slightly more cooperative than non-religious citizens. However, this statistically significant difference was not the consequence of religiosity per se. Regression analysis suggests that the observable difference was due to factors such as age, gender, concern about health, and trust in the ruling government. We explain the effect of these factors in light of the existing corpus of knowledge about social dilemmas.
V članku evidentiramo in analiziramo pojavljanje družbenih dilem in mimikrije v Homerjevi Odiseji. Osredotočamo se na sovpadanja družbenih dilem in mimikrije. Ta se večinoma izražajo kot prepletanje ...dveh kognitivno kompleksnih delovanj - strateškega prokrastiniranja (kot reševanja znotrajosebne družbene dileme) in identitetne mimikrije oz. mimikrije čustev in namenov. Ugotovimo pomenljive tozadevne razlike in podobnosti z Iliado. Branje starodavne Odiseje ni brez sporočilnosti za sodobnost (refleksivno moderno): izpostavljamo nekatere navezave na globalno ekološko krizo in digitalizacijo človeškega sveta. To nas pripelje do defektorjev, ki z uporabo digitalnih signalov igrajo sodelovanje.

V clanku evidentiramo družbene dileme v Homerjevi Iliadi. Situacije, ki ustrezajo družbenim dilemam, kot jih opredeljuje tozadevna znanost, so pogoste. Prevladujejo dileme prispevanja. To je v skladu ...z naravo temeljne dejavnosti v epu - vojskovanjem. Vojskovanje terjaprispevke vsehposameznikov h kolektívnemu cilju, kaznovanje defektorjev in nagrajevanje nadpovprecne kooperativnosti.
Nato povzemam demografske ...napovedi glede migracij in napovedi posledičnih sprememb religijske demografije Evrope do leta 2050. Sledi oris stanja v znanstveni literaturi glede vprašanja učinkovanja (religijskih) migracij na sekularnost Evrope v treh izbranih pomenih sekularnosti. V četrtem delu na osnovi relevantnih teoretskih izhodišč iz sociologije religije skiciram tri sociološke scenarije razvoja učinkovanja migracij na sekularnost Evrope do leta 2050: optimističnega, pesimističnega in katastrofičnega.
This article discusses the financial collapse of Slovenia's Catholic Church, a scandal which resulted in the deposition of the country's archbishops, and its impact on religious belief and on the ...relations within the Slovenian Catholic establishment and community. Trust in the Church and religious participation have dropped markedly in Slovenia over recent years. While there are no significant changes in religious belief, other religious indicators continue to reflect an ongoing moderate trend towards secularisation that is characteristic of Slovenia in the post-socialist era. The public discourse of the Church's leadership and lay Catholics reveals tensions on the reasons behind the fall of the Church's financial empire and on the question of responsibility in the removal of Slovenia's archbishops. Two general types of reactions were identified in a content analysis of texts from a five-month period after the last depositions. Views within the Slovene Catholic Church, which uphold the institution's traditional stance, tend to explain these developments as part of a conspiracy against the Church. Others that are more open and reflective are critical towards the actions of the Church and demand change from within the institution.
Slovenia has been one of the worst affected European states as regards per capita fatalities from COVID-19. We analysed data from two public opinion surveys in an effort to find a sociological ...explanation for this situation. Approaching the pandemic as a case of a public goods dilemma, we distinguished cooperative from non-cooperative players (citizens) in terms of their (reported) level of respect for a set of measures of safe behaviour. Cooperation declined during the second wave of the pandemic (compared to the first one), with the number of victims dramatically increasing. Stronger cooperation is positively correlated with (more advanced) age and (greater) concern for health (fear). Weaker cooperation or defection is correlated with youth and less trust in the government. Analysis of public opinion surveys has its strengths and limitations. Additional explanations for Slovenia’s relative failure should be researched using other methods as well.
The 2011 Slovene Public Opinion Survey and World Values Survey have determined that trust in the Roman Catholic Church in Slovenia has fallen to an all-time low in the post-independence era: only 25 ...percent of Slovenes expressed a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the Church. This article considers how the Church’s social power has been impacted by the so-called Holy Crash, namely, the 2010 collapse of the Archdiocese of Maribor’s financial empire and its investments and interests in various enterprises controlled through its Gospodarstvo Rast financial management company. Revealed is the fact that, in recent years, trust has been eroded most in the Podravje (Drava) and Koroška (Carinthia) regions of Slovenia, both of which lie within the Maribor archdiocese. This decline supports the central hypothesis that the scandal and secrecy surrounding the collapse have negatively impacted trust in the Roman Catholic Church.
