The article presents three major prerequisites for users, participation in research and teaching: (1) the "narrative turn" in social sciences and particularly in social work; (2) the impact of ...disability movements and other social movements in local contexts for the development of users, participation; (3) the need for the development of an anti-paternalistic, strengths and resilience-oriented perspective of the professionals towards service users. In Eastern European countries which rather lack all of these three elements, users, participation and involvement in research and teaching still require a lot of cultural and professional changes. The article presents two case studies of users, involvement in research and teaching in Slovenia. In 2007 a group of mental health services users were trained to become researchers in group homes for people with mental health problems in Ljubljana. They have proven, like most of the western studies on this matter, the need for participatory research in social work in order to gain a deeper understanding of the everyday experiences of service users. Since 1999 more service users, especially those experiencing mental health problems and with different impairments, were invited to give lectures and seminars to the social work students at the University of Ljubljana. The article analyses their experiences including the one of the "glass ceiling" in the dominant culture of the power-knowledge discourse. Adapted from the source document.
The article is a detailed reconstruction of early social work education in Slovenia in the 1950s. It marks the beginnings of the professionalisation of social work in the context of state socialism. ...On one hand, the government viewed social work with unease while, on the other, Yugoslavia was the only country of the former “socialist bloc“ to introduce comprehensive social work education in all its republics. Based on archival research, a thematic analysis of written sources on social welfare from the 1950s, and oral narratives of professionals, the article describes the impact of social work education in Croatia on the school in Slovenia, analyses the main actors in the field of social welfare, and addresses the social welfare issues being discussed in the early period.
Sri Lanka is one of many developing countries where poverty, neo-liberal economic exploitation, economic migration and traditional long-term injustice towards ethnic minorities, children, people with ...disabilities and women, have created difficult conditions for social work to truly become a human rights profession. This article links poverty issues with some social work issues such as the child's perspective and disability issues, both being important parts of universal human rights. Despite a long social work tradition-early social work training was established in 1952-social work is still a developing profession. The article gives a descriptive overview of the development of social work education since 1952 and provides an example of a successful international collaboration between the University of Colombo and the University of Ljubljana in order to develop social work education at the university level and to establish it as an academic discipline. It gives a case study analysis of the absence of the child's perspective in children's institutions and presents an example of good practice in working with children with disabilities. Both analyses show a need for more professional social workers in the country.
v petdesetih letih 20. stoletja, ki pomeni začetke profesionalizacije socialnega
dela v socializmu.

Abstract
The international #metoo campaigns are influenced by local social norms, institutional responses to gender-based sexual violence, and neo-patriarchy. Therefore, some characteristics are ...highly locally specific. The chapter describes the local characteristics of the #jaztudi campaign in Slovenia by analysing women's testimonies, and media and social reactions. The #jaztudi started in 2018 initiated by four women public intellectuals one of whom is the author of this chapter. The chapter takes as its starting point an overview of gender-based inequalities that women in post-socialist Slovenia are facing. Women's testimonies reveal that sexual violence happens at home, in educational, healthcare, religious, public and private institutions as well as at work and in leisure time, and has great impact on the women's lives. In a short period of time, by compiling and publishing the testimonies, the #jaztudi campaign created a snowball effect and contributed to the launching of new on-line and media-supported discussions about sexual violence, notably by Catholic priests, and the painful and demeaning treatment that women encounter in different health institutions. The campaign facilitated the emergence of alliances among new cases of sexual violence in a relatively short period of time, and contributed to some degree to awareness raising. The campaign encouraged the emergence of a new sensitivity much needed in order to reach new political agreements. Taking into account that sexual violence is historically a patriarchal strategy used to control women, it is urgent to implement the ‘yes means yes’ model of consent of the Istanbul convention in Slovenia, and to create the political and social conditions in which sexual harassment and violence against women are unacceptable.
U istočnoeuropskim zemljama u kojima prilično nedostaju ova tri elementa, participacija korisnika i njihovo uključivanje u istraživanje još zahtijeva mnoge kulturalne i profesionalne promjene.
Članak prikazuje studije dvaju slučajeva uključivanja korisnika u istraživanje i podučavanje u Sloveniji.
