In this research article we conduct an analysis of Sita: Warrior of Mithila. This book presents how Sita was playing a leading role in Ram's life. Eventually Sita transforms herself into a warrior ...princess. Many mythical elements are presented in Tripathi's novel, and the author presents the story with his own creative interpretation. Tripathi is trying to analyse Sita's character with the depiction of the kingdom of Mithila, exploring the epic battle, quest, and the investigation of themes such as destiny and sense of duty. All the way through this assessment, the paper aims to draw attention to how Tripathi's plot breathes new life hooked on conventional mythology, offers readers a unmarked viewpoint on ageless themes and narratives. In analyzing the work of fiction for mythological essentials, we make out how Tripathi blends antique mythology with logical interpretation.
Some of theater’s most powerful works in the past thirty years fall into the category of "verbatim theater," socially engaged performances whose texts rely on word-for-word testimony. Performances ...such as Fires in the Mirror, The Laramie Project, and The Vagina Monologues have at their best demonstrated how to hold hard conversations about explosive subjects in a liberal democracy. But in this moment of what author Ryan Claycomb terms the “rightward lurch” of western democracies, does this idealized space of democratic deliberation remain effective? In the Lurch asks that question in a pointed and self-reflexive way, tracing the history of this branch of documentary theater with particular attention to the political outcomes and stances these performances seem to seek. But this is not just a disinterested history—Claycomb reflects on his own participation in that political fantasy, including earlier scholarly writing that articulated with breathless hopefulness the potential of verbatim theater, and on his own theatrical attendance, imbued with a belief that witnessing this idealized public sphere was a substitute for actual public participation. In the Lurch also recounts the bumpy path towards its completion, two years marked by presidential impeachments, an insurrection, a national reckoning with racism, and a global pandemic. At the heart of the book is a central question: is verbatim theater any longer an effective cultural response to what can look like the possible end of democracy?
The difficult distinction between reality and virtuality, between fact and fiction, user and reader, and between author and narrator becomes the inseparable quality of digital literature. Using the ...example of "Datenpoesie" (2018) by the Austrian artist Jörg Piringer, the article examines the boundary between an electronic device as a medium competing with the traditional carrier such as books, and a technological format that already has effects on the genres.
In The Frontier Effect, Teo Ballvé challenges the notion that in Urabá, Colombia, the cause of the region's violent history and unruly contemporary condition is the absence of the state. Although he ...takes this locally oft- repeated claim seriously, he demonstrates that Urabá is more than a case of Hobbesian political disorder. Through his insightful exploration of war, paramilitary organizations, grassroots support and resistance, and drug-related violence, Ballvé argues that Urabá, rather than existing in statelessness, has actually been an intense and persistent site of state-building projects. Indeed, these projects have thrust together an unlikely gathering of guerilla groups, drug- trafficking paramilitaries, military strategists, technocratic planners, local politicians, and development experts each seeking to give concrete coherence to the inherently unwieldy abstraction of "the state" in a space in which it supposedly does not exist. By untangling this odd mix, Ballvé reveals how Colombia's violent conflicts have produced surprisingly coherent and resilient, if not at all benevolent, regimes of rule.
Joshua Oppenheimer's documentary film, The Act of Killing (TAOK), breaks conventions of genocide documentaries by focusing on the perpetrators rather than the victims. The film showcases the ...perpetrators' reenactments of their killings during the 1965-1966 Indonesian massacres. It also challenges the reliability of their testimonies and reenactments, raising ethical implications for perpetrator representation. Critics have debated the fictionality of the reenactments and the believability of the perpetrators' remorse. However, the focus on fictionality overlooks the perpetrators' unreliability in terms of perception and ethics. The film exposes the perpetrators' glorification of violence, their disregard for victims' perspectives, and their manipulation of narratives. Through its own narrative interventions, the film establishes a clear distinction between the unreliable narratives of the perpetrators and its own ethical standpoint. The film's framing of perpetrator Congo's supposed redemption is also examined, highlighting the unreliable and contradictory nature of his remorse. Overall, TAOK challenges Indonesian historical narratives and exposes the perpetrators' unreliable and ethically problematic perspectives.
This book explores the pivotal role that football played as part of Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos’ national unity project centred on the peace process with the FARC. Football has huge ...political and social capital in Latin America, and has often been rhetorically deployed by governments for various ends; rarely, however, has football’s power and potential been used in such a deliberate, strategic and active way towards a national peace process and targeted such enduring divisions that have historically impeded a sense of a united nation and national identity. Football in Colombia is understood popularly as one of the few things capable of uniting the country, a belief that Santos seized upon as the national team had a successful campaign in the 2014 World Cup. This first book on Colombian football in English explores previous iterations of football nationalism in the country, including the El Dorado and ‘Narcofootball’ eras, before analysing Santos’ three-pronged strategy empowering professional and amateur football, including the use of political speeches and Twitter, legislation and public policy, and Sport for Development and Peace campaigns, with a particular focus on football in the FARC demobilisation and reincorporation camps following the historic peace agreement.
