While I didn't see the 1993 production, I can't imagine how it could have been better than this glittering version, staged by John Rando, Mr. Ives's frequent collaborator, and acted with colossal ...eclat by five young actors who fit together like the pieces of a platinum-plated jigsaw puzzle.
Back in 1993, Mr. Ives -- author of the Tony-nominated play "Venus in Fur" -- had a surprise hit with the comedy "All in the Timing," a collection of six one-act plays that is currently being revived ...in a new production at Primary Stages through March 17. ...as with the beginning of "Venus in Fur" -- in which the actress explodes into the audition room -- sometimes it's not the words that matter but how they're delivered. Mr. Ives saw Mr. Glass's abstract opera "Einstein on the Beach" when it first came to the Metropolitan Opera House, and he's a long time fan of the composer's music.
