Zaprezentowano w ...nim enuncjacje publicystów i redakcji czasopisma, które były częstokroć oparte na relacjach naocznych świadków życia społeczno-politycznego w ZSRS. Poruszane zagadnienie stanowi jedną z egzemplifikacji wieloaspektowej krytyki sowietyzmu, wyrażanej w Kościele i środowiskach katolickich II Rzeczypospolitej, w której pojawiały się często zagadnienia wyeksponowane w niniejszym artykule.
The article presents the image of Napoleon Bonaparte in the Catholic press of the Second Polish Republic. Attention was paid to both his socio‑political and military achievements, as well as a ...general assessment of the character. The source basis is mainly the texts that appeared on this subject in periodicals dealing most often with socio‑political and historical‑political issues. They were compared with the findings of both contemporaneous and contemporary historians. The aspect of the then political propaganda in Poland, emphasising the importance of the Polish-‑French alliance, as well as the former importance of Napoleonic policy for the “Polish cause” was taken into account. The power of the solemn celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Napoleon's death, together with its patriotic connotations, as well as the issue of his religiosity, influencing the nature of the then state‑Church relations, are particularly exposed. The text is intended by the author to fit into the categories of the history of historiography and have a comparative character in relation to the historiography of the Napoleonic era in interwar Poland.
The text is a result of a research project titled “The significance of parish-distributed press for the evangelization and formation activities of the Szczecin-Kamień Church (2016–2020).” The project ...was realized by members of the Department of Media Evangelism of the Institute of Journalism as part of the basic statutory activity of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Cracow. Indicating the need for this research, it is worth noting that already several years ago, the Archdiocesan Archives in Szczecin planned a pastoral study on the topic of “Libraries and parish press in the Szczecin‑Kamień Archdiocese,” which was not implemented.
The purpose of this study is to find an answer to the question of whether evangelization and formation of the Niedziela Catholic weekly readers is carried out through the message. The presentation of the 2016–2020 editions of the Szczecin-Kamień Niedziela delivers a positive answer: yes, by learning the thoughts and facts provided, the faithful of the archdiocese were able to engage more consciously and with greater commitment in the works of evangelization and formation that applied to them. The first part of the study is an explanation of what evangelization and formation activities that are mandatory for Catholics consist of and the necessity of using the means of social communication to carry out these activities. The second part describes content filling the eight pages of the weekly message addressed to the Roman Catholic Church on the Oder and Baltic were filled. The message included the teaching of the diocesan bishop, descriptions of the ways in which the faithful engage liturgically, accounts of archdiocesan and parish activities, in addition to the social teaching of August Cardinal Hlond and Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński. The third part of the article juxtaposes elements that make up evangelization and formation activities with content directed to Catholics in the weekly paper distributed in parishes. In this way, it was shown that each reader could not only witness the process of evangelization and formation taking place in the Szczecin-Kamień Archdiocese, but also get involved in it.
The Bibliothèque nationale de France holds an exceptional collection of illustrated periodicals for young girls from the 20th century, which can be consulted in the Department of Law, Economics and ...Politics. A partial collection of these same magazines is also present at the Centre national de la littérature pour la jeunesse, ex-Joie par les livres, which joined the BnF in 2008. This article presents four of the most popular weekly magazines of this time, which are exceptional sources for cultural history: La Semaine de Suzette, Fillette, Bernadette, Lisette. Some research has already been conducted on the conservative discourse of these periodicals and the comic strips published in them, but many avenues of investigation remain to be explored.
El presente artículo busca contribuir a la historia de la prensa católica en Chile examinando las estrategias editoriales que sustentaron el trabajo de La Estrella de Chile (1867-1878), semanario ...literario vinculado a la prensa católica chilena. Para ello, identificaremos los lineamientos ideológicos, literarios y comerciales que intervinieron en la configuración del perfil particular de la revista, señalando las tendencias generales que permiten explicar su adscripción a la misión planteada por el periodismo católico de la época —defender la posición de la iglesia ante la secularización de la sociedad— y especificando las características particulares que diferenciaron su actividad en el marco de esta lucha.
This article presents the partial conclusion of the research project devoted to marketing activity of Polish Catholic opinion-forming weeklies on the social media platforms. The main aim of this ...article is to present the results of the study on the use of Twitter as a marketing tool by Polish nationwide Catholic opinion-forming weeklies. The basic research questions concerned the extent of utilizing the platform by the magazines’ editors to create and distribute the content of their media product, maintain and develop brand communication and self-promotion. The case studies and the content analysis of the accounts of the three magazines—Gość Niedzielny, Tygodnik Katolicki Niedziela and Przewodnik Katolicki—show that there are three different ways in how the editors of the magazines understand the role of the Twitter account of the title they represent—as an ‘active communicator’, ‘active communicator and community supporter’ or ‘community supporter’. The conclusions show that the studied media fairly efficiently use the visual and distributional potential of the platform as well as some of its features, at the same time missing the chance to build a brand-loyal community. They also limit the role of Twitter to that of a supplement for the main communication channel, which is the printed weekly and its website.
Oslanjajući se na objavljenu literaturu i neobjavljeno arhivsko gradivo, autori u radu obrađuju fenomen obnove katoličkoga tiska u Hrvatskoj tijekom 1960-ih, ponajprije u kontekstu crkveno-državnih ...odnosa toga vremena. Proces obnove Katoličke crkve, potaknut Drugim vatikanskom koncilom, s jedne strane te želja jugoslavenskih vlasti da ponovno normaliziraju odnose s Crkvom u tadašnjoj Jugoslaviji, ali i obnove 1952. jednostrano prekinute diplomatske odnose sa Svetom Stolicom s druge strane otvorili su mogućnost da Crkva u Hrvatskoj obnovi i neke svoje javne/društvene djelatnosti, koje su joj od 1945. bile sustavno uskraćivane, među kojima je istaknuto mjesto zauzelo ponovno pokretanje njezina tiska koji je država 1945. ugušila. Tu je priliku Crkva 1960-ih uspješno iskoristila, a obnovljeni katolički tisak naišao je na velik interes publike te su se u samo nekoliko godina umnožili i broj osnovanih/obnovljenih listova i njihova naklada.
In 1587, Antonio Castelvetro, a little-known physician from a well-known Modenese family, circulated a manuscript treatise that proposed a radical new vision for a Catholic press and a reformed ...system of press censorship: The Brief Treatise on the Reform of the Press (Trattato breve sopra la riforma della stampa). Historians have typically treated this text with a combination of amusement and outright ridicule, but this essay explains the ways that Castelvetro’s text captured a particular ethos of expertise and reform at the end of the sixteenth century in Italy. Although never implemented, Castelvetro’s treatise represents a moment of creative tactics in confrontation with the hydra of print. Censorship lay firmly within the project of the Counter-Reformation—a response directed at undermining and controlling the immediate and long-term effects of religious upheaval across Europe. However, systemic solutions to managing the press were part of the creative process of Catholic Reform. As Castelvetro’s treatise shows, some of these suggestions were more far-fetched and self-aggrandizing than others, but each contributed to a flourishing landscape of ideas aimed at combatting heresy and restructuring Catholic life.
