The main objective of this paper is to understand the impact of Diffusion Absorption Refrigeration (DAR) system coupled with a magnetic field through experimental investigation. DAR is an emerging ...technology which converts waste heat into useful work. The addition of the magnetic field increases the coefficient of performance of the DAR system. The waste heat from automobile exhaust was introduced as heat input and the performance and feasibility were studied for a different arrangement of the magnets. The absorption enhancement was compared with and without magnetic effect. The influence of magnetic field reduces the viscosity of the working fluid which causes the free flow and impacts the heat transfer rate due to its higher mass flow rate. The result indicates that the performance of the system increased with the application of magnets.
Not many people can say that they took the first steps in their HR career aged 12. This was the ageat which Sunita Malhotra, now HR director for the European sales and marketing function at ...Electrolux, first realized she wanted to do something to help people reach their full potential.
Transnational companies combine global integration with local responsiveness, catering to national and even regional tastes while obtaining efficiencies through global operations. What is the role of ...IT in enabling an organisation to become transnational? What actions ensure that IT helps, rather than hinders, the transition?
One major European company recognised as having a transnational disposition is Electrolux. Home Products Europe (HPE), the largest sector in Electrolux, has previously been investigated both by international business and IT researchers. This paper updates the longitudinal perspective of HPE, including an examination of the transnational change drivers. Using a tentative framework that combines previous research into multinational and transnational IT policy, it shows that all of HPE's IT strategies align with the framework. We identify a number of key obstacles in the HPE case that hindered the transition, most notably problems of data quality and integration, largely occurring due to acquisitions. We also note the slow changes in the working practices of distributed IT groups and suggest that future research and frameworks need to better address staff issues.
This paper provides a critical assessment of state deregulation policy, industrial restructuring and the erosion of union-based bargaining by analysing the role of the Swedish whitegoods ...transnational corporation, Electrolux, which bought out the last remaining Australian whitegoods manufacturer in November 2000. We contend that analysis of the global strategy of a transnational corporation provides insight into the dynamics of competition and changing power relations in a deregulated environment. Our research shows how deregulation intensifies global competition in a way that accelerates mergers and acquisitions, which create a high degree of concentration, further rationalisations and workplace restructuring. The latter has been facilitated by the 1996 Workplace Relations Act (WRA), which disorganises trade unionism and undermines solidarity cultures. This we illustrate through a short analysis of the restructuring Electrolux has implemented at a refrigeration plant in Orange, New South Wales. The corporation's mode of bargaining a new enterprise agreement is explored. The power imbalances this process re.ects will only be redressed when there is ‘a new social organisation of labour’.

In the words of Hans Straberg: 'Building an increasingly strong talent base with the right attitude and enthusiasm is one of our most effective competitive weapons. We need to attract, develop and ...retain top talent, which in turn will develop Electrolux. It is absolutely vital that we succeed in this.' Hans Straberg is chief executive of the world's largest producer of appliances and equipment for kitchen, cleaning and outdoor use, and one of the largest producers in the world of similar equipment for professional users. The company's brands include AEG, Flymo, Frigidaire and Zanussi.
