Med utgangspunkt i et overraskende spørsmål fra elever i møte med en kunstnerisk praksis, drøfter artikkelen hvordan en forstyrrelse kan kaste nytt lys på hva abduksjon som metode innebærer som ...tilnærmingsmåte til «ny» empirisk forskning i kunstfagdidaktikk. Artikkelen argumenterer for å la det som forstyrrer en forsker i en konkret situasjon være ledespor for abduksjon, et arbeid som kan skape nye begreper og teori omkring kunstfagdidaktikk. Med omdreiningspunkt i Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze og Félix Guattaris begreper om subjektivering og affekt, samt Charles Sanders Pierce og Mieke Bals tanker om abduksjon, belyses metodologiske implikasjoner av forstyrrelser. Slik kan affekt bli et ledespor for abduksjon, hvor situasjoner som overrasker forskeren kan brukes produktivt i utviklingen av kunstfagdidaktisk forskning.
En revenant « aux sources (naturelles) du sens », les Principia Semiotica du Groupe µ jettent un solide pavé dans la mare de toute une tradition sémiologique qui, partant des textes linguistiques ...(puis visuels), avait plutôt insisté sur la grande inventivité et la grande diversité culturelle des systèmes de signes. En soulignant la dimension résolument naturelle et motivée de la sémiose, le Groupe µ s’en prend frontalement à un certain « axiome de conventionalité » dominant dans la sémiologie contemporaine, notamment dans son paradigme structuraliste. Par le même geste, le Groupe µ s’en prend aussi en droite ligne à une épistémologie d’« idéalisme linguistique (ou plus généralement symbolique) », qui s’est imposée dans la seconde moitié du XXème siècle sous l’influence d’un certain « tournant linguistique » et qui a vu, dans les catégorisations conventionnelles, la source de toute sémiose mais aussi de toute production de connaissance. Par son attention aux sources perceptuelles de la sémiose la plus originaire, le Groupe µ réhabilite tout à la fois une certaine épistémologie réaliste, qui estime que le monde est déjà organisé avant sa structuration dans telle ou telle langue et qu’il motive même cette structuration, et une certaine épistémologie empiriste, qui voit dans l’expérience sensible le lieu de cette motivation et dès lors la source première de la sémiose et de la connaissance. En insistant sur la continuité des processus cognitifs naturels qui régissent cette sémiose avec d’autres dispositifs matériels présents dans le monde animal ou même vivant, la sémiogénétique s’avère aussi solidaire d’une épistémologie plus naturaliste et matérialiste que culturaliste et « glossocentriste ». Reste toutefois que les étapes ultérieures de la sémiose (avec la fonction de renvoi propre à la sémiose indirecte ou l’interprétation propre à la sémiose consciente) rendent, pour le Groupe µ, toute sa place à une sémiose intersubjective plus arbitraire et culturellement dépendante. À partir de nos propres travaux sur la déférence sémantique, nous montrons cependant que la division du travail linguistique, qui garantit cette intersubjectivité du sens, n’implique pas forcément la conventionalité qu’on lui associe généralement, mais qu’elle peut elle aussi, pour certains signes au moins, être liée à une épistémologie réaliste qui s’attache à la motivation naturelle plutôt qu’à l’arbitraire conventionnel de la sémiose.

Easterlin maintains that the goal of literary interpretation is still of central intellectual and social value. Taking an open yet judicious approach, she argues, however, that literary interpretation stands to gain dramatically from a fair-minded and creative application of cognitive and evolutionary research. This work does just that, expounding a biocultural method that charts a middle course between overly reductive approaches to literature and traditionalists who see the sciences as a threat to the humanities.
Easterlin applies her biocultural method to four major subfields within literary studies: new historicism, ecocriticism, cognitive approaches, and evolutionary approaches. After a thorough review of each subfield, she reconsiders it in light of relevant research in cognitive and evolutionary psychology and provides a textual analysis of literary works from the romantic era to the present, including William Wordsworth’s “Simon Lee” and the Lucy poems, Mary Robinson’s “Old Barnard,” Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s “Dejection: An Ode,” D. H. Lawrence’s The Fox, Jean Rhys’s Wide Sargasso Sea, and Raymond Carver’s “I Could See the Smallest Things.”
A Biocultural Approach to Literary Theory and Interpretation offers a fresh and reasoned approach to literary studies that at once preserves the central importance that interpretation plays in the humanities and embraces the exciting developments of the cognitive sciences.
A climate of presenteeism has important effects on employee well-being and the organization itself. Our study, based on surveys of health sector employees in six different countries (Brazil, Ecuador, ...Lebanon, Portugal, Russia and Spain) examines whether organizational justice plays a mediating role in the relationship between a presenteeism climate in the organization and work-family conflict (WFC). Our results indicate that the perception of organizational justice and the presenteeism climate do influence WFC. Moreover, higher levels of WFC were found in non-Latin countries. This study contributes to the work attendance and life balance field by providing cross-cultural empirical evidence corroborating the effect of justice and presenteeism climate on the WFC.
Cet article est consacré à l'analyse d'un recueil d'articles publié par Gilles Deleuze en 1953 sous la direction de Georges Canguilhem. Ce recueil, très peu lu et commenté, éclaire cependant la ...trajectoire intellectuelle de son auteur en soulignant les hésitations théoriques qui furent les siennes. Nous montrons en effet que Deleuze a alors esquissé un projet « psycho-sociologique » ambitieux qu'il n'a cependant jamais totalement actualisé mais qui n'a cessé de travailler son œuvre. Pour ce faire, nous reconstitutions l'ensemble du sous-texte psychologique et éthologique étudié par Deleuze, en tentant de suivre ses sources exactes de première ou de seconde main ; nous mettons ainsi en évidence de réelles prises de position théoriques souvent inaperçues dans son œuvre (vis-à-vis de Henri Bergson, Jakob von Uexküll et la gestaltpsychologie notamment). Nous faisons alors l'hypothèse que ce sont les difficultés liées à la théorie de la perception qui conduisent Deleuze à se détourner de ce projet esquissé dans les années 1950 afin de se consacrer à des problématiques d'ordre plus spécifiquement ontologique. Nous montrons cependant que ces difficultés persistent tout au long des ouvrages deleuziens où les notions de « signe » et de « sémiotique » viennent à la fois recouvrir et éviter les problèmes spécifiquement perceptifs.

A nuanced reframing of the dual importance of reading and observation for early modern naturalists.Historians traditionally argue that the sciences were born in early modern Europe during the ...so-called Scientific Revolution. At the heart of this narrative lies a supposed shift from the knowledge of books to the knowledge of things. The attitude of the new-style intellectual broke with the text-based practices of erudition and instead cultivated an emerging empiricism of observation and experiment. Rather than blindly trusting the authority of ancient sources such as Pliny and Aristotle, practitioners of this experimental philosophy insisted upon experiential proof. In A Centaur in London, Fabian Kraemer calls a key tenet of this master narrative into question—that the rise of empiricism entailed a decrease in the importance of reading practices. Kraemer shows instead that the early practices of textual erudition and observational empiricism were by no means so remote from one another as the traditional narrative would suggest. He argues that reading books and reading the book of nature had a great deal in common—indeed, that reading texts was its own kind of observation. Especially in the case of rare and unusual phenomena like monsters, naturalists were dependent on the written reports of others who had experienced the good luck to be at the right place at the right time. The connections between compiling examples from texts and from observation were especially close in such cases. A Centaur in London combines the history of scholarly reading with the history of scientific observation to argue for the sustained importance of both throughout the Renaissance and provides a nuanced, textured portrait of early modern naturalists at work.

The core issues ...examined include the identification of factors driving delivery choices and the effects of privatisation and cooperation on service provisions. In addition to reporting the specific empirical findings of each study, we highlight the innovative methodologies that they each adopt. Finally, we outline a number of potential avenues for further research.

Entre la difficulté à accepter la véridicité du récit de Marco Polo en dépit de sa véracité, et la confiance accordée à Mandeville, en dépit de sa fictionnalité, c’est le pouvoir du discours sur l’image du monde qui est à l’œuvre à travers ces textes. Ni de simples divertissements, ni des encyclopédies, en réalité, ils donnent à lire de façon dynamique la marche d’un individu pour explorer le monde, le lecteur étant entraîné par le fil du récit sur les pas d’un voyageur et, par là même, est mise en scène la possibilité du voyage. Les sensations du voyageur doivent être retranscrites avec précision pour donner à lire son expérience du monde qui fonde la valeur d’un savoir empirique. Ainsi, les traductions hispaniques de ces textes sont-elles l’occasion de les réactualiser à la lumière des avancées propres au contexte historique ou des nouveaux témoignages, ce qui révèle l’intertextualité à l’œuvre dans l’image du monde, mais aussi la rétro-alimentation des textes dans leur stratégie de conviction, car le texte reste toujours la preuve par excellence.
