This paper investigates into the critical reception of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince in Italy and in France, in relation to the expansion of studies into the author’s life and work ...since his death up to the present time. In particular, recent developments in Saint-Exupéry’s critical reading are examined with the aim to discuss the enduring charm played by his original and independent profile on 20th century literary scenario.
This paper deals with the semantic notion “topic”, understood broadly as the notion of ‘aboutness’ as in “to talk about stars,” and describes its various forms of expression across ten European ...languages. The aim is to explore and characterise how topic is construed, that is, which underlying conceptualisations are involved in the metaphorical expressions used to refer to this notion. The description is based on ten parallel versions of A. St. Exupéry’s famous novel Le Petit Prince. The analysis highlights the most salient metaphors that are found in European languages and points at some differences in the topic markers used across languages. The most revealing conceptualisation of topic involves what I have called the revolving metaphor, in which the topic is seen as the centre around which our discussion or thoughts revolve, as in my thoughts revolved around her. The paper ends with a tentative discussion of to what degree the different topic metaphors can be considered dead or alive.
The paper intends to compare three Italian translations (Bompiani 1949-2014, Blonk 2016) of the French masterpiece The Little Prince, following its entry in the Public Domain. As the original text ...has been included in an internet platform (https://via.hypothes.is/http:/wikilivres.ca/wiki/Le_Petit_Prince#annotations:ePix5C76EeaFHK_nd4qRsA) open to comments, discussion and opinions, the paper also looks at the novel's "new" digital life. Finally, the comparative study will look at a further translation, which recently came out on the Internet (https://it.wikisource.org/wiki/Il_piccolo_principe).
Cette recherche comprend l'analyse de trois œuvres, Le Petit Prince d'Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, El Principito traduite par María Soledad Ottone et El Principito con lenguaje inclusivo par Julia ...Bucci, afin de découvrir les aspects linguistiques constituant une œuvre inclusive. Pour cela, nous avons extrait et classifié les mots constituant sexisme linguistique dans Le Petit Prince et El Principito et les mots traduits en langage inclusif dans El Principito con lenguaje inclusivo. Ainsi, nous avons comparé les œuvres et nous avons créé un patron de langage inclusif. De plus, nous avons analysé les stratégies féministes de traduction utilisées dans la version inclusive. Les résultats ont révélé que les aspects linguistiques caractéristiques d'une œuvre inclusive correspondent a l'utilisation de la désinence -e et l'utilisation de langage non sexiste. Finalement, nous avons conclu que le langage inclusif est un outil tres important pour la representation des différentes identités de genre et pour les traductions au futur sans aucune marque de genre.
Deferred Dreams, Defiant Struggles: Critical Perspectives on Blackness, Belonging and Civil Rights examines the construction of blackness within shifting post-civil rights, post-colonial and ...neo-colonial contexts. It examines understudied locations and protagonists, and it articulates the necessarily ambiguous aspirations, goals, protest rationales and strategies associated with the reclamation of agency and the affirmation of self. In this volume, Charleston, South Carolina is more prominent than Little Rock Arkansas in the struggle to desegregate schools; Chicago occupies the space usually reserved for Atlanta or other southern “bulwarks” of the civil rights movement; and diverse Africans in France and Afro-descended Chileans illustrate the many-faceted struggle for recognition and belonging. The essays assembled in Deferred Dreams, Defiant Struggles are salient and timely. The volume helps to contextualize the contemporary political vicissitudes of the Black experience and the ongoing struggle for agency, belonging, and civil rights. By critically reading and connecting different Black experiences in various global regions, cultures, and communities, this volume pushes beyond the usual case studies of the American Civil Rights struggle. In doing so, it offers fresh perspectives on familiar concepts such as activism and belonging, suggesting more innovative approaches for the study of African diasporic experience in the 21st century.
Cet article analyse ladaptation du conte dAntoine de Saint-Exupéry, Le Petit Prince, a la bande dessinée réalisée par Joann Sfar. Il passe en revue le contexte de la création de lœuvre littéraire et ...le travail de lauteur de ladaptation. Nous établissons un cadre théorique avec les avancées de la recherche sur le 9e art pour les appliquer dans notre étude des deux œuvres et analyser ensuite les implications de cette adaptation dans la réception des lecteurs du XXIe siecle.
Cette recherche se propose d'étudier l'audience-cible de l'ouvrage Le Petit Prince d'Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. A partir d'entretiens menés avec des enseignants et des maisons d'édition turcs, ce ...travail considère cet ouvrage comme l'une des références littéraires les plus célèbres et les plus valorisées en Turquie. En raison de la nature contradictoire des réponses obtenues, le recours à l'analyse critique du discours construite par les tenants de l'école de Vienne (Wodak, de Cillia, Matouschek, Januschiek et Liebhart) ambitionne de mettre en regard l'idéologie de l'auteur et l'audience-cible. En considérant le discours de l'auteur-narrateur, il s'agit de montrer que la narration se construit selon deux points de vue: celui de l'enfant d'une part, celui de l'enfant et de l'enfance toujours présents chez le lecture adulte de l'autre. Cet article s'attache enfin à montrer l'idéalisation du monde de l'enfant.

The novelty of our study is derived from having handled the manuscript version of the ...translation. In this paper, we provide a documentary analysis on the reasons that led to translate this work, but also on the translator behavior, the strategy and the procedures used in the transfer. We start from the assumption that the translator has to intervene to a greater extent in children’s texts than in a textfor adults and we want to confirm if such intervention has occurred in accordance with translation standards of the time.

In order to understand balancing the lengths of linguistic elements contained in a sentence, we conducted a survey using the Menzerath–Altmann's law (MAL), which is often used in quantitative ...linguistics research in Europe and Canada. Using texts from two editions of the Japanese translation of a French book, Le Petit Prince, as our study material, we construct a dataset to create a function with the length of the sentence measured by the number of clauses as x, the length of the clauses that constitute the sentence measured by the number of morphemes as y, and the number of characters as y'. The regression analyses were performed on the linguistic length dataset, employing the MAL equation. As Altmann stated, the association between the sentence length and clause length is expressed by a decreasing function. The MAL holds even in translated texts. The regression curves of the two editions tended to be similar to each other. However, some data deviated from the MAL decreasing function, specifically, for cases with additions, longwinded explanations, parenthetic expressions, or words expressing thoughts without quotations. It can be regarded that these cases are intended to have an expressive effect by means of breaking the balance of length among linguistic elements, which is typical in Japanese expressions.
