Abstract
The Amarna corpus contains several references to maritime conflict and related activities in the 14
th
century BCE, including blockades, the movement of troops, the capturing of ships at ...sea, and seaborne evacuation. While most of these are encountered in the context of conflicts between Levantine polities, there are clear references to what might on the one hand be called piracy, but on the other hand either acts of naval warfare or naval elements of a larger war effort, on both land and sea. This paper considers the martial maritime activities discussed in the Amarna letters, with particular emphasis on two uniquely controversial groups mentioned in this corpus in the context of maritime violence: the ‘ships of the men of the city of Arwad’ and the ‘
miši
-men.’ While the men of Arwad are identified with a polity on the Phoenician coast, they are referred to only by this collective term, even when mentioned in lists that otherwise contain only rulers. The
miši
, on the other hand, are not associated with any specific name or toponym. The purpose of this study is to identify just what can be determined about the roles and affiliations of these two groups in their Amarna context in this period.

Hace un par de días, ante un auditorio lleno, se desarrolló un foro sobre la Misión Rural, organizado por la SAC y la Universidad de la Salle. Resulta muy positivo ver a los sectores público y ...privado, a la sociedad civil y la academia discutiendo sobre una ruta para lo rural, sin dejarse contaminar por el actual ambiente político enrarecido en el sector agropecuario. Incluso, un video enviado desde La Habana por 'Pablo Catatumbo', de las Farc, a pesar de contener elementos contenciosos en su discurso, resultó de buen recibo. La Misión Rural, cuyo nombre formal es Misión para la Transformación del Campo, es una apuesta para promover un desarrollo rural con enfoque territorial participativo, que busca empoderar a los habitantes rurales como gestores de su propio desarrollo y lograr su mayor y mejor inclusión, tanto social como productiva, balanceando la competitividad con la sostenibilidad, privilegiando la provisión de bienes y servicios públicos.
Desde tiempos inmemoriales, lo característicamente humano, lo que ha originado las civilizaciones es la capacidad de transmitir la acumulación individual y colectiva de conocimientos, comportamientos ...e instrumentos, a través de una formación inicialmente familiar complementada por instituciones cada vez más especializadas en conservarlos y desarrollarlos. Las civilizaciones se transmiten y se transforman a través de la educación. Los modelos de crecimiento han demostrado que es la capacidad de absorber y crear conocimiento lo que explica la velocidad de desarrollo de los países. Los recursos naturales e incluso la inversión en capital instrumental solo desarrollan un país si su gente es capaz de aprovecharlos inteligentemente y hacerlo con instituciones capaces de generar y exigir un conjunto de normas y comportamientos que permiten universalmente el disfrute de las libertades colectivamente formuladas y exigibles. La Misión de Calidad de la Educación para la Equidad, una alianza entre el Programa de Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (Pnud) y la Secretaría de Educación de Bogotoá, implementó durante el año pasado consultas con académicos, empresarios, grupos de interés y comunidad educativa.
Penelitian ini tentang misi multikultural Yesus kepada perempuan Kanaan yang didasarkan pada teks Matius 15:21-28. Penelitian ini mengkaji natur hingga prinsip misi yang dilakukan oleh Yesus kepada ...perempuan Kanaan. Yang menarik di sini adalah seringkali gereja menganggap misi Yesus hanya diperuntukkan secara eksklusif kepada orang Yahudi. Namun dari kasus ini menunjukkan bahwa misi itu ternyata dibuka kepada bangsa-bangsa non-Yahudi. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, maka penelitian ini mendapatkan beberapa kesimpulan. Pertama, berdasarkan uraian tafsiran terhadap teks Matius 15:21-28 dan dengan memperhatikan konteks serta latar belakang dari perempuan Kanaan itu, maka terlihat jelas bahwa pelayanan atau misi Yesus kepada perempuan Kanaan merupakan misi multikultural. Kedua, pelayanan Yesus kepada perempuan Kanaan (Mat. 15:21-28) secara prinsip memenuhi syarat dikategorikan sebagai misi multikultural. Oleh karena telah memenuhi semua teologi yang merupakan bagian dari teologi multikultural, seperti: teologi relasional, sosial, operasional, moral dan transformasional. Ketiga, pelayanan Yesus kepada perempuan Kanaan (Mat. 15:21-28) memenuhi setiap aspek dari dimensi kristosentris apabila dikaitkan dengan rancang-bangun teologi multikultural.
Suatu misi penginjilan dapat berhasil apabila dilaksanakan secara kontekstual. Salah satu lembaga misi yang berhasil menjalankan penginjilan secara kontekstual adalah Crossline Family yang ...melaksanakan misi kepada anak punk. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggali metode penginjilan yang digunakan Crossline Family terhadap anak punk. Metode yang dipakai adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Informan adalah pemimpin dan anggota Crossline Family. Data diambil melalui teknik wawancara dan analisa sejarah perjalanan pelayanan Crossline Family yang telah didokumentasikan melalui video. Penelitian menemukan adanya tiga metode yang digunakan Crossline Family dalam penginjilan terhadap anak punk yaitu: 1) berelasi tanpa menghakimi, 2) pro-aktif berada di tengah-tengah kehidupan mereka dan menjadi teladan; 3) menyampaikan Firman Tuhan melalui genre lagu anak punk.
The future response of the Antarctic ice sheet to rising temperatures remains highly uncertain. A useful period for assessing the sensitivity of Antarctica to warming is the Last Interglacial (LIG) ...(129 to 116 ky), which experienced warmer polar temperatures and higher global mean sea level (GMSL) (+6 to 9 m) relative to present day. LIG sea level cannot be fully explained by Greenland Ice Sheet melt (~2 m), ocean thermal expansion, and melting mountain glaciers (~1 m), suggesting substantial Antarctic mass loss was initiated by warming of Southern Ocean waters, resulting from a weakening Atlantic meridional overturning circulation in response to North Atlantic surface freshening. Here, we report a blue-ice record of ice sheet and environmental change from theWeddell Sea Embayment at the periphery of the marine-based West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS), which is underlain by majormethane hydrate reserves. Constrained by awidespread volcanic horizon and supported by ancient microbial DNA analyses, we provide evidence for substantial mass loss across the Weddell Sea Embayment during the LIG, most likely driven by ocean warming and associated with destabilization of subglacial hydrates. Ice sheet modeling supports this interpretation and suggests that millennial-scale warming of the Southern Ocean could have triggered a multimeter rise in global sea levels. Our data indicate that Antarctica is highly vulnerable to projected increases in ocean temperatures and may drive ice–climate feedbacks that further amplify warming.
In order to assess whether previous hepatic IR (Hepatic-IRfasting) and beta-cell functionality could modulate type 2 diabetes remission and the need for starting glucose-lowering treatment, ...newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes participants who had never received glucose-lowering treatment (190 out of 1002) from the CORonary Diet Intervention with Olive oil and cardiovascular PREVention study (a prospective, randomized and controlled clinical trial), were randomized to consume a Mediterranean or a low-fat diet. Type 2 diabetes remission was defined according to the American Diabetes Association recommendation for levels of HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose and 2h plasma glucose after oral glucose tolerance test, and having maintained them for at least 2 consecutive years. Patients were classified according to the median of Hepatic-IRfasting and beta-cell functionality, measured as the disposition index (DI) at baseline. Cox proportional hazards regression determined the potential for Hepatic-IRfasting and DI indexes as predictors of diabetes remission and the probability of starting pharmacological treatment after a 5-year follow-up. Low-Hepatic-IRfasting or high-DI patients had a higher probability of diabetes remission than high-Hepatic-IRfasting or low-DI subjects (HR:1.79; 95% CI 1.06–3.05; and HR:2.66; 95% CI 1.60–4.43, respectively) after a dietary intervention with no pharmacological treatment and no weight loss. The combination of low-Hepatic-IRfasting and high-DI presented the highest probability of remission (HR:4.63; 95% CI 2.00–10.70). Among patients maintaining diabetes, those with high- Hepatic-IRfasting and low-DI showed the highest risk of starting glucose-lowering therapy (HR:3.24;95% CI 1.50–7.02). Newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients with better beta-cell functionality and lower Hepatic-IRfasting had a higher probability of type 2 diabetes remission in a dietary intervention without pharmacological treatment or weight loss, whereas among patients not achieving remission, those with worse beta-cell functionality and higher Hepatic-IRfasting index had the highest risk of starting glucose-lowering treatment after 5 years of follow-up.
La principal es el salario mínimo (SM). En el primer semestre de este año había en el país 7'880.000 trabajadores con menos del mínimo diario; devengan al mes 0,37 SM y representan el 43,6 por ciento ...del empleo. Se trata principalmente de cuenta propia, servicio doméstico, patronos, ayudantes familiares y otros trabajadores, poco educados y no amparados legalmente por el mínimo. Este no se traslada inmediatamente a los asalariados poco calificados. A pesar del alza en el mínimo y de la menor inflación, el salario real no calificado está cayendo; el mercado laboral sigue funcionando. Lo primero es retomar una senda de crecimiento elevada, sostenida y no inflacionaria. Pero la recuperación plena podría tomar varios años; mientras tanto, la informalidad y el desempleo van a perdurar. Para reducir el desempleo y la informalidad, el crecimiento es condición necesaria, pero no es suficiente. Hay que pensar en estrategias complementarias, calificar la fuerza laboral y facilitarle a la masa de bachilleres pobres que están saliendo de los colegios el acceso a la educación terciaria. No lo vamos a lograr a punta de matrículas subsidiadas y de más transferencias presupuestales de bloque a las universidades públicas; se requiere ampliar el crédito estudiantil y un énfasis en carreras técnicas. Los subsidios de familias en Acción (que perciben también las de la Red Juntos) deben ser temporales y libres de la politiquería. Hay que diseñar para esas familias una Política de Generación de Empleo moderno, similar a Empleo en Acción de comienzos de esta década. En el caso rural es preciso vincular las familias más pobres -que hoy siguen viviendo en la edad media- al mercado (interno y externo) y movilizar el excedente de mano de obra rural a la construcción de infraestructura mediante un programa masivo.
