Boris Krajnc je bil prvi habilitirani učitelj ljubljanske univerze za področje biokemije – imenovanje v naziv docenta je datirano s 7. januarjem 1946. Vendar se je Krajnčeva življenjska pot zelo ...hitro končala, saj so ga 27. oktobra 1947 aretirali in 26. aprila 1948 na montiranem dachauskem procesu obsodili na smrt. Ustrelili naj bi ga 12. maja 1948, starega 34 let. Krajnčeva življenjska zgodba je tesno povezana z delom več slovenskih kemikov, ki so bili kot zaporniki v koncentracijskem taborišču Dachau izbrani za tehnično pomoč pri izvedbah poskusov na ljudeh ali pri delu v kliničnem laboratoriju. Na povojnih dachauskih procesih v Ljubljani je bilo skupaj obsojenih 8 kemikov, od teh jih je bilo 5 obsojenih na smrt in ustreljenih. V kasnejših presojah dachauskih procesov se je izkazalo, da so bile obtožnice skonstruirane, priznanja pa pridobljena s krutimi zasliševalskimi metodami, zato so bile vse sodbe razveljavljene. Po emigraciji encimatika Richarda Klemna ter pregonu Maksa Samca in Marte Blinc z univerze je bil Boris Krajnc tisti, ki naj bi skrbel za biokemijo na Tehniški fakulteti. Po njegovi smrti je nekaj let biokemijo predaval Krajnčev mlajši kolega Dušan Stucin z Medicinske fakultete, potem pa biokemije več let ni bilo v kemijskem kurikulumu.
An exhaustive review of Senega subgenus Clinclinia (Polygalaceae) is presented here. The subgenus is conformed by 23 species distributed mainly in Argentina and Chile, with some species in Brazil, ...Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay. All species are here described in detail and photographs of the plants in their habitat are provided along with photographic plates of their floral structures, distribution maps, and assessments of their conservation status. Senega kurtzii is here described as a new species. In addition, two identification keys, one of the three subgenera of Senega, other for all species of the subgenus Clinclinia, and an exhaustive list of the material examined are provided.
Se presenta aquí una revisión exhaustiva de Senega subgénero Clinclinia (Polygalaceae). El subgénero está conformado por 23 especies distribuidas principalmente en Argentina y Chile, con algunos representantes en Brasil, Bolivia, Paraguay y Uruguay. Todas las especies son aquí descriptas en detalle y se proveen fotografías de las plantas en su hábitat junto con láminas fotográficas de sus estructuras florales, mapas de distribución y evaluaciones sobre su estado de conservación. La especie Senega kurtzii es aquí descripta como una nueva especie. Además, se proveen dos claves de identificación, una de los tres subgéneros de Senega, otra de todas las especies del subgénero Clinclinia; también se provee un listado exhaustivo del material examinado.

Shen Yuan Gan（SYG） is a Chinese herbal prescription composed of total saponins of Panax ginseng and total oligosaccharide esters of Polygala tenuifolia（2：1）.Our previous studies have demonstrated ...that SYG has antidepressant-like effects in various mouse models of behavioral depression.The present study aimed to test whether SYG affected chronic mild stress（CMS）-induced depression and cognitive impairment in mice.We found that a 5-week CMS schedule induced significant degradation of the coat state,decreased sucrose intake in the sucrose-preference test,and increased the latency to feed in the noveltysuppressed feeding test.All of these CMS-induced changes were ameliorated by SYG（100 and 200 mg/kg） and fluoxetine（10 mg/kg）.In addition,SYG restored the decreased monoamine neurotransmitter concentrations（serotonin,dopamine,norepinephrine and acetylcholine） induced by CMS in the prefrontal cortex.Interestingly,SYG ameliorated CMS-induced cognitive impairment in the step-through test,and increased the acetylcholine level in the prefrontal cortex.These results suggest that SYG has an antidepressant-like action and enhances cognition by modulating the serotonin,dopamine,norepinephrine,and acetylcholine levels in the prefrontal cortex.
Three phenylpropenoyl sucroses--sibiricose A5, A6 and 3',6-disinapoyl sucrose--were isolated from the 30% EtOH extract of Polygala tenuifolia, which displayed antidepressant-like action. HPLC ...analysis indicated that the three phenylpropenoyl sucroses could be absorbed into serum. From the serum pharmacochemistry point of view, these three phenylpropenoyl sucroses might prevent or relieve depression.
