Over the past two decades, social network analysis (SNA) has elicited increasing attention in construction project management (CPM) research as a response to the emerging perspective of viewing ...projects as network-based organizational organizations. However, a thorough review of SNA application in CPM research is unavailable. This study aims to address this gap by reviewing 63 SNA papers published in eight peer-reviewed journals from 1997 to 2015 to ascertain the status of this research area and identify future research directions. The papers are analyzed in terms of institutional and individual contribution, citations, topic coverage and research design and methodologies. Three research directions, namely, internal stakeholder networks for outcome-related values, external stakeholder networks for process-related values, and external stakeholder networks for outcome-related values, are identified. The findings of this study are believed to provide useful references for the future application of SNA in CPM research.
•Social network analysis (SNA) has elicited increasing attention from researchers.•63 SNA papers published between 1997 and 2015 are analyzed quantitatively.•The papers are categorized into eight topics using a scientometric technique.•An emerging trend of SNA-based research design and methodologies is identified.•Three future directions for SNA application in CPM are provided.
Businesses need well-trained project managers but recruiting students to this field is a challenge. This three-part study examines motivational factors that influence students to pursue a project ...management degree, industry requirements for project management careers, and graduate program marketing messages. The purpose of the study is to determine the degree of alignment among these three variables and make recommendations for graduate program marketing stakeholders and industry leaders to improve recruitment strategies for these programs. Study 1 seeks to understand prospective student opinions and trigger factors when applying to a graduate program using a survey with regression and cross tabulation statistical analysis. Study 2 analyzes the relationship between project management certifications and work experience and salary using regression analysis. Study 3 is a content analysis that examines how graduate programs market their project management programs to prospective students. Study findings indicate industry leaders and higher education stakeholders need to use informational marketing campaigns to bridge the knowledge gap between market demand and student perceptions. Higher education leaders need to design curriculum that includes industry certifications and practical skill courses if they want to increase enrollment and career placement for project management students.
Project Management is evolving more rapidly than ever1. Driven by the progress in new technologies and the emergence of agile methodologies, organizations such as the Project Management Institute ...(PMI) reviewed their Project Management Standards to reflect on this phenomenon. In its latest edition, the Project Management Body Of Knowledge 7th1 (PMBOK), gather the largest number of evolutionary 2 and a disruptive approach based on Principles and focuses on emerging trends such as tailoring, to enhance value delivery through project results342. Nevertheless, the PMI states that this new release does not invalidate previously published versions of PMBOK. However, the coexistence of these two perspectives may initially be an unclear subject for managers and teams, used to a process-oriented 5.
This research studied the relationship between PMBOK 6th5 and PMBOK 7th1 and the importance of their connection applied to project tailoring and value creation, through a model that relates concepts from PMBOK 7th1 (Methods, Models and Artifacts and Performance Domains) and the PMBOK 6th5 (Processes).

University-industry collaboration (UIC) projects are complex undertakings, that can involve multiple parties or stakeholders. Effective management of UICs can mean the difference between success and ...failure, in terms of technology transfer and research commercialization. This research paper focuses on the micro-level analysis of UICs and in particular the project management practices that can help major UICs deliver benefits and broader societal impact. PM has been evolving toward more hybrid approaches involving both traditional and agile practices. A conceptualization of a hybrid approach is presented based on a literature review. This conceptualization is then used as a starting point for exploratory empirical research. Participant observation, document analysis, and thirty semi-structured interviews were conducted in a large UIC case study to help identify PM practices and check their relevance. Data analysis led to a framework comprising 29 transversal or
must-have
practices distributed throughout the project lifecycle and 30 contingent or
optional
practices, divided into traditional, agile and common. This research extends the existing knowledge on UICs by giving a micro-level perspective on managing UIC projects and providing evidence of the adoption of hybrid approaches to assure the overall governance of significant inter-organizational endeavors. The framework provides a roadmap for future major UIC projects.
The article is devoted to the study of the essence of digital platforms and their main advantages. Digital platforms are now perceived as one of the most effective tools for conducting acceleration ...and project management programs. These digital platforms include such platforms that support projects, support work within teams, remind of important events and inform about other opportunities. The following advantages are highlighted: possible participants, availability of accelerators, availability of project showcases, project support, support for work within the team, event reminders, information about support systems, a platform engagement strategy. The main digital platforms for carrying out acceleration and project management programs, which are used in Russia, analyzed their main advantages for startups, investors, experts, ecosystem partners, infrastructure institutions and other stakeholders. There are digital platforms that provide the maximum number of services for program acceleration and project management. Opportunities for the development of digital platforms for conducting acceleration and project management programs have been identified. The research was carried out with the financial support of the Perm Government as part of a research project by the regional research group of agreement SED-26-12-10-5.
Blended teaching is a teaching method integrating classroom teaching and online learning. Based on OBE (Outcome-based education), this paper proposes some reform ideas for blended teaching by ...software project management curriculum. Project driven, flipped classroom, vivid animations, MOOC video and cases study etc. are adopted to improve the self-study ability and team work of students. Although it takes more time to study, it gain high praise and enhance the teaching quality.
