In this paper, I focused on the translation work by František Benhart which, due to its extensiveness, was of crucial importance to the reception of Slovenian literature in the Czech cultural ...environment of the second half of the 20th century. The aim of this study is the linguistic analysis of the literary translations of selected literary works of the canon of Slovenian literature into Czech. Translation can be considered to be a cultural transposition, i. e. a transfer of the text and cultural environment from the source language into the text and cultural environment of the target language. In the analyses, I focused on some partial issues that either dominated in the particular text (expressivity, phraseology, idiomatic or proper names) or occurred across the texts analysed (realia) and in this context, I searched for his specific translation solutions. I also examined short excerpts of the original text and its translated counterpart looking for the presence of stylistically marked elements. Based on the results of individual analyses, I presented Benhart’s specific translation approaches and I attempted to summarize and indicate the basic features of his translation method. Furthermore, my second objective was to point out the possible consequences of Benhart’s translation method for the reception of the Slovenian literature in the Czech cultural environment.
The authors of the volume ('From May ’68 to November ’89: Transformations of the World, Literature, and Theory') intervene in the study of the student movement’s “rehearsal” for a world revolution ...and its afterlife in the 1980s and 1990s by addressing two hitherto neglected aspects – the literary and the peripheral. They consider the roles played by the (semi-)periphery of the modern world-system, on the one hand, and modernist literature and theory, on the other, in transforming the existing world order in the fields of culture, politics, economy, and everyday life. How were critical theory and neo-avant-garde literature in the world, in Slovenia, and in Yugoslavia intertwined with the student protest that advocated the transformation of the capitalist world-system and its socialist counterpart? The monograph focuses on the processes that connected the events of 1968 and 1989 in the social, literary, and theoretical spheres in the sign of continuity and turning points, and at the same time defined our contemporary world.
Pesnica Cvetka Lipuš je mednarodno uveljavljena in večkrat nagrajena pesnica, rojena na avstrijskem Koroškem. Po študiju v Avstriji je odšla v Združene države Amerike, nato pa se je po več kot ...desetletju bivanja čez lužo vrnila in se ustalila v Salzburgu. Doslej je izdala sedem pesniških zbirk in je ena izmed najpomembnejših ambasadork slovenske kulture v tujini. Svoje pesniške misli preliva na papir izključno v slovenščini, svojem prvem jeziku, medtem ko sta nemščina in angleščina jezika njene izobrazbe in poklicnega življenja. V prispevku se avtorji sprašujejo, kako se migracije in trije kulturni krogi, ki jo spremljajo, odražajo v njenem življenju in delu.

History and literature complement each other. In other words, a historical text has a literary dimension, and a literary text has a historical dimension. History tells about the past, but does not ...decipher its internal mechanisms. Literature, on the other hand, helps us understand how behaviors and identities are formed. History shows us the mistakes of the past, but does not give us enough elements to avoid repeating them. This is what literature does, and the works of Grossman and Pahor, representatives of two cultures - Russian and Slovenian - are an argument in this regard. These two authors present us with an image of war and one of the greatest horrors of the twentieth century, the concentration camp.
