The success of consumer-to-business (C2B) group-buying websites (GBWs) relies heavily on consumers’ relationships with the GBWs, a topic not yet adequately investigated in the existing literature. In ...addition, there is a transition from the technical and/or transactional views in e-commerce studies to a relational view. However, such studies have focused on business-to-consumer contexts. By integrating the e-commerce success model and commitment–trust theory, we developed a model of GBW stickiness, which is examined using data collected from 280 GBW users. The results indicated that relationship commitment, trust, and satisfaction were key determinants of stickiness intention. Theoretical and practical implications are also discussed.
Dive into the possibilities of moving toward a personalized approach to education. With contributions from educators around the world, "PLCs at Work® and the IB Primary Years Programme" examines ...practices from envelope-pushing schools within the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and shows how the tenets of professional learning communities can ensure that all students learn at high levels. Educators will: (1) Contextualize PLCs at Work and personalized learning within the IB PYP; (2) Unpack the core components of the PLC at Work process and the IB PYP framework; (3) Discover how the PLC at Work process can support personalized learning in the early years; (4) Explore the essential role of educational assistants in a PLC at Work and the PYP; and (5) Discuss the roles that RTI and the PLC at Work process play to support students with special needs in an IB PYP school.
This review examines competing perspectives relating to (a) the range and prevalence of different theoretical approaches to the study of career success and (b) the need for a theoretically ...differentiated understanding of the antecedents of objective career success (OCS) versus subjective career success (SCS). Furthermore, the review complements the assumption that OCS and SCS are only ultimate outcomes of careers, proposing instead that career success also acts as an antecedent to other career and life outcomes. Against the backdrop of an organizing resource management framework, we present and critically evaluate the results of a systematic analysis of the theoretical approaches used to empirically study the antecedents of OCS and SCS. Furthermore, we develop a taxonomy of outcomes of career success. Our review findings show a theoretical heterogeneity with some dominant theoretical approaches within research of antecedents of career success. Moreover, past research started to adopt different theoretical approaches when predicting OCS (e.g., approaches focusing on personal resources, such as human capital or competitive performance) versus SCS (e.g., approaches focusing on personal key resources, such as stable traits). Several types of career success outcomes were identified: withdrawal, career attitudes, health and well-being, reactions from the (work) environment, and self-concept. On the basis of these findings, we provide recommendations for how future research can make sense of the theoretical heterogeneity in career success research, how research on antecedents and outcomes can better account for the OCS/SCS distinction, and how future research can more rigorously integrate research on antecedents and outcomes of career success.

This study was carried out to examine the relationship between career commitment, career values perceived organizational support and career success. Using convenient sampling, data was gathered using ...291 questionnaires. Correlation and regression analysis were performed to determine the significance of the independent variables, career values and perceived organizational support on career success. Analysis of the data revealed that career commitment, career values and perceived organizational support have significant but moderate relationship with career success. The findings show that variables, that is, career commitment, career values and perceived organizational support influence approximately 61 percent variance on career success. This means there other factors that could not be explained by this study that determine career success. Future research should look at other variables such as human capital, socio-demographic status and stable individual difference that might influence career success.

FromNew York Timesbestselling author and economics columnist Robert Frank, a compelling book that explains why the rich underestimate the importance of luck in their success, why that hurts everyone, ...and what we can do about it
How important is luck in economic success? No question more reliably divides conservatives from liberals. As conservatives correctly observe, people who amass great fortunes are almost always talented and hardworking. But liberals are also correct to note that countless others have those same qualities yet never earn much. In recent years, social scientists have discovered that chance plays a much larger role in important life outcomes than most people imagine. InSuccess and Luck, bestselling author andNew York Timeseconomics columnist Robert Frank explores the surprising implications of those findings to show why the rich underestimate the importance of luck in success-and why that hurts everyone, even the wealthy.
Frank describes how, in a world increasingly dominated by winner-take-all markets, chance opportunities and trivial initial advantages often translate into much larger ones-and enormous income differences-over time; how false beliefs about luck persist, despite compelling evidence against them; and how myths about personal success and luck shape individual and political choices in harmful ways.
But, Frank argues, we could decrease the inequality driven by sheer luck by adopting simple, unintrusive policies that would free up trillions of dollars each year-more than enough to fix our crumbling infrastructure, expand healthcare coverage, fight global warming, and reduce poverty, all without requiring painful sacrifices from anyone. If this sounds implausible, you'll be surprised to discover that the solution requires only a few, noncontroversial steps.
Compellingly readable,Success and Luckshows how a more accurate understanding of the role of chance in life could lead to better, richer, and fairer economies and societies.
Reports of declines in abundance and biomass of insects and other invertebrates from around the world have raised concerns about food limitation that could have profound impacts for insectivorous ...species. Food availability can clearly affect species; however, there is considerable variation among studies in whether this effect is evident, and thus a lack of clarity over the generality of the relationship. To understand how decreased food availability due to invertebrate declines will affect bird populations, we conducted a systematic review and used meta‐analytic structural equation modelling, which allowed us to treat our core variables of interest as latent variables estimated by the diverse ways in which researchers measure fecundity and chick body condition. We found a moderate positive effect of food availability on chick body condition and a strong positive effect on reproductive success. We also found a negative relationship between chick body condition and reproductive success. Our results demonstrate that food is generally a limiting factor for breeding songbirds. Our analysis also provides evidence for a consistent trade‐off between chick body condition and reproductive success, demonstrating the complexity of trophic dynamics important for these vital rates.

The mid-career stage is marked by a wider diversity of roles and responsibility in work and non-work life domains. To attain career success, mid-career workers cannot solely depend on their ...organization for information, skills, and training. Integrating career construction (Savickas, 2002) and conservation of resources (Hobfoll, 1989) perspectives, we developed a model linking perceived organizational support (POS), perceived spousal support, career adaptability, and subjective and objective indicators of career success. We tested the model using a sample of 160 independent employee-supervisor dyads across three measurement periods over two years. Results revealed that (a) POS was indirectly related to both subjective and objective career success via career adaptability; (b) perceived spousal support was indirectly related to both subjective and objective career success via career adaptability; and (c) the conditional indirect effects of POS in predicting subjective and objective career success via career adaptability were stronger for employees with high as opposed to low levels of perceived spousal support. Implications for theory and practice are discussed.
•Examined how work and non-work support resources predict career success in midlife.•POS and perceived spousal support impact career success via career adaptability.•Perceived spousal support moderated the link between POS and career adaptability.
