Nowadays, significant advancements and semiconductor technologies in the field of microprocessor manufacturing provide high-volume memory, manufacturing, and production of programmable logic ...controllers (PLC). In these controllers, to change the logic of the control, it is sufficient to change only the control program without changing the wiring or devices. Easy installation and programming, short response time, high-speed control, simple testing and troubleshooting, network capability, as well as a noticeable reduction in wiring volume compared to traditional relay systems leading to PLC, have become one of the main pillars of the automation system. On the other hand, the use of microgrids as distributed power generation products to provide simultaneous electricity and heat, greenhouse gas emissions, and losses reduction in the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, which is the most modern method of controlling and monitoring of automation systems. In this paper, we demonstrate how to test and program one of the Siemens PLCs called S7-1200 with the aid of TIA Portal V15 software to control the LAMBDA microgrid, placed at the University of Sapienza Rome that includes feeders related to photovoltaic panels, storage batteries and loads, in both grid-connected and island performance.
Conventionally, native Peruvian rocotos have a great diversity in terms of color, size, and shape, with red, orange, and green rocotos standing out. Also, their method for the selection process of ...this product is labor-intensive, bringing with it more costly productivity, the risk to the consumer's health, and uncertain reliability. Therefore, this research presents the design of an automated system for the rocoto grading process taking into account 2 main parameters: size and color. The system uses mechanisms for reading information through an HMI interface, which allows monitoring and control from the panel, for this, a PLC controller is used as the brain of the whole system, and for the simulation of the entire system is used the software Tia portal, Factory IO and LabVIEW. As a result, the correct and complete operation of the rocoto selection process was obtained, thus concluding the viability of this system and the development of new research.
The food sector consumes a large part of the world's packaging production, 35% of which is discarded after the first use. However, most of this packaging is made from fossil fuel feedstock plastics. ...The continued production of plastic packaging represents a series of negative impacts on the environment in terms of air, soil, and water, all due to its long degradation time and chemical composition. To mitigate this impact, new materials based on plant biomass have been used to find an eco-friendly substitute for traditional plastic packaging. To streamline and optimize the processes of dosing and to mix ingredients during the production of biodegradable trays, this research proposes the design of an automated mixing system for obtaining biodegradable biomass based on starch and vegetable fiber. The system was controlled by a PLC S7-1200 and monitored through an HMI interface, and the software structure was designed in the TIA Portal program. Finally, the system was commissioned and simulated in the Factory I/O software, where a process plant was recreated to simulate the signals from the water level sensors of the agitator tank and the weight sensors of the quantities of the ingredients to be dosed, also to activate actuators such as the agitator and the tank filling and dosing valves.
Microgrids represent the integration of DERs (Distributed Energy Resources) with utility grids, and they have become increasingly prominent due to their ability to supplement the main grid's power ...supply to meet growing load demands. However, the introduction of microgrids poses challenges, particularly in the control and protection of microgrid components in both grid-connected and islanded operating modes. This study explores Automation of two distinct Microgrid (MG) topologies in simulation environment of (TIA) Totally Integrated Automation -Portal V15. In the MG Topology-1 (LAMBDA) is interconnected with the main grid and operates conditionally in grid-connected or island modes. A Siemens S7-1200 PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) utilizing the MODBUS TCP/IP communication protocol, serves as the Central Control (CC) system. The developed program in PLC demonstrated based on the micro grid's operational modes by managing contactors and provides control and protection at various locations through protective relays. The main grid voltage and frequency values as per IEEE 1547 are considered for the operation of PLC which are read through PAC-4200(Power Analysis and Control). In the MG Topology-2, a protection scenario with different aspects are developed using the PLC and Modbus communication protocol, with different sources and loads. In this configuration, demonstrated the relays to provide control and protection of the microgrid from overcurrent faults. Current levels are carefully monitored to trigger the relays, effectively isolating the faulted section from the entire microgrid. Both topologies are integrated with the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems with WINCC (Windows Control Centre) in TIA-Portal V15 for control and monitoring.
This document enables communication between the Siemens PLC (Programmable Logic Control) TIA portal and Lab VIEW. TIA Portal and Lab VIEW may talk to one another via OPC Server. OPC is a business ...standard that provides genuine plug-and-play software for factory automation and process control. It was created with the aid of NI OPC SERVERS. Combining software and hardware from several vendors is made simple via OPC. By incorporating cutting-edge analysis and control functionality into any PLC using the new NI OPC servers with NI Lab VIEW software and DSC (Data Logging and Supervisory Control) module and its use in real-time control, the problem of automation in industrial applications throughout the manufacturing enterprise can be resolved. The facility must be automated using traditional SCADA software, which must be acquired and set up. This study needs to use Lab VIEW in order to build a low-cost SCADA platform because SCADA software is so expensive. The development of SCADA by utilizing the Lab VIEW DSC module to monitor and control the process by creating connection between PLC and NI-Lab VIEW is the main focus of this study. Once the SCADA solution has been created, it may be provided to the client by using the license-free Lab VIEWruntime environment.
The demand for yellow corn according to the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation Midagri in the period 2020, Peru had an annual growth of 4.9%, having a national production of 1.2% of ...which had to import 3.7%. This work develops the classification of corn grains separating impurities to improve production times in the company "Inversiones Santana". For the simulation of the classification of corn grains with impurities, the Factory IO and TIA Portal software was used, where a vision sensor sends to the interactive screen of HMI, to then see the production time in the Anylogic software, for which a working time of 8 hours and 13.8 minutes was obtained initially without the automation proposal. Finally, implementing the improvement proposal, we obtained a recognition for the classification of corn grains to 100% of impurities, improving the production of 120 bags of corn, to be done in 5 hours and 3 minutes, improving by 38.92% the work processes.

The purpose of the paper is to elaborate on the methodology of designing new machines called Digital Twins. In this particular case a FESTO MecLab educational assembly line was used. A digital twin ...is a virtual model that serves as a real-time digital counterpart of a physical object or process. 7 It is a model of a real device/object/process on which it is possible to simulate functionality, communication, capacity, etc. Compared to conventional simulations, it differs in its complexity and its ability to simulate very closely the behavior of a real model in many situations with far greater complexity. The paper provides an overview of the technology and software and lists the advantages of using this approach. 6, 7
The study demonstrates the development of a Field level of an industrial communication network, operating with a wide range of machines. The TIA Portal software is used for the creation of the ...network, and a new generation software known as Factory I/O is used for the visualization.
