With a wedding impending, the Taiwanese bride-to-be turns to bridal photographers, makeup artists, and hair stylists to transform her image beyond recognition. They give her fairer skin, eyes like a ...Western baby doll, and gowns inspired by sources from Victorian England to MTV. An absorbing consideration of contemporary bridal practices in Taiwan,Framing the Brideshows how the lavish photographs represent more than mere conspicuous consumption. They are artifacts infused with cultural meaning and emotional significance, products of the gender- and generation-based conflicts in Taiwan's hybrid system of modern matrimony. From the bridal photographs, the book opens out into broader issues such as courtship, marriage, kinship, globalization, and the meaning of the "West" and "Western" cultural images of beauty. Bonnie Adrian argues that in compiling enormous bridal albums full of photographs of brides and grooms in varieties of finery, posed in different places, and exuding romance, Taiwanese brides engage in a new rite of passage-one that challenges the terms of marriage set out in conventional wedding rites. InFraming the Bride,we see how this practice is also a creative response to U.S. domination of transnational visual imagery-how bridal photographers and their subjects take the project of globalization into their own hands, defining its terms for their lives even as they expose the emptiness of its images.
Use of social media for communication, sharing or expressing views, broadcasting news, threatening and blackmailing has become an integral part of society. One such activity is understanding ...multi-cultural wedding images uploaded on social media. This paper presents a novel method based on the combination of U-Net, Convolutional Neural Network and Random Forest for classification of multicultural wedding images. In the case of wedding images, bride and bridegroom draw the attention of the viewers. This observation led to propose a U-Net for segmenting the region of bride and bridegroom in a novel way. Similarly, it is noted that the costumes of bride and bridegroom are vital information for differentiating different cultures. This cue motivated us to extract features using CNN for classification. Since the extracted features using CNN are capable of discriminating images of different classes, we propose a simple and effective Random-Forest for Multicultural Wedding Image Classification. The efficiency of the proposed model is demonstrated by testing it on our own dataset of six multi-cultural wedding classes and standard dataset of wedding and non-wedding images classes. Experimental results on both the datasets show that the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art models in terms of average classification rate.

Specific focus was placed on how wedding vendor entrepreneurs use creativity, ...innovation, networking and advertising as a competitive advantage. Qualitative research was conducted which reflects individuals' perspectives, beliefs, attitudes and experiences. Semi-structured interviews took place electronically through online voice calling due to the global pandemic. The individual participants, each representing their own business, were interviewed to gain a better understanding of entrepreneurship in the wedding industry. It is evident that all the vendors adapted during the global COVID-19 pandemic, and that dealing with future opportunities by linking these to loyalty and creativity are essential aspects of entrepreneurship in the wedding industry. The global pandemic proved the importance of how the wedding industry is dynamic where individuals are required to wear different hats and be flexible, as businesses were forced to adapt and reposition themselves during and after COVID-19 as a method of survival. It is recommended that vendors ensure the utilisation of existing resources and branch off into new avenues-not necessarily entering into new markets or new industries, but rather focusing on complementary products or services.

Sharia weddings among Christians were performed for various reasons almost during the entire time of Ottoman rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Christian couples married before a qadi had to follow the same rules as Muslim married couples, and that had certain advantages in terms of the strictness of the Church's marriage rules. Namely, in this way, Christians could marry their relatives and members of other churches or get divorced, and in the event of a divorce or the death of the husband, the widow could at least for a while freely dispose of her wedding gift, which was arranged before the marriage. Thus, the Church’s strictness regarding wedding customs could be avoided by Sharia weddings. Moreover, this kind of marriage could provide a solution to girls who did not want to marry certain unwanted bridegrooms and fiancés. Sharia marriage provided some pro tection, and it also had advantages: Christians who married before the qadi could divorce without an expensive and time-consuming procedure, and according to the rules of the marriage contract, husbands had to financially provide for their wives, even in the event of divorce or after his death in widowhood. Examples of Christians wedded before a qadi are recorded in sicils marriage books but often such records are incomplete and not uniform. Still, these records provide enough evidence to conclude that number of Christian marriages before a qadi was higher than it can be found in preserved records. The reasons for entering into such marriages were different, but despite the advantages of a Sharia marriage, many couples after a Sharia wedding decided to get married according to the Church procedures. This can be concluded based on the analysis of Christian marriage books, which witness that after a certain time, many Catholics decided to repent of their sins due to Sharia marriage, and wanted to obey the wishes of their parents, as well as respect the Church and the entire church community.
