By presenting the history of Gras's association with Jamet, Bempéchat successfully argues that such a practice should be avoided, as the composer's clear ideas for both works are best executed on the harp.10 Bempéchat further discusses thematic cells and the subtleties of French impressionism in his analysis of the harp Quintette, arguing that Gras may be the "most successful of the Germanically oriented French neo-classicists.
