This paper discusses design of an autonomous rope climbing robot for identified industrial applications. Modified design goals are drawn up after analyzing the same from prior publications. A modular ...design with wheel based drive is conceptualized and suitable calculations are done to select drive motor, onboard power source etc. Limited laboratory based test is also carried out to establish suitability of the suggested drive mechanism. An embodiment is drawn out next for light weight modular construction satisfying the design goals. Salient design features are compared with published designs.
In this paper, the lateral vibration of the cable-stay bridge induced by pedestrians is investigated. The motion differential equations of 2 DOFs nonlinear model for the lateral vibration of the ...cable-stay bridge induced by pedestrians are derived by using the loading function suggested by Nakamura 8. The conditions for the lateral vibration of the cable-stay bridge are obtained from the standpoint of nonlinear dynamics. We show that whether the lateral vibration of the cable-stay bridge occurs depends on the rate of a pedestrian's lateral force, pedestrian density, rate of synchronized pedestrians, the pedestrians' attitude to large vibration amplitude and the damping of bridge, but is unrelated to the stiffness of the bridge and stays as well as the damping of the stays. In addition, it seems that the pedestrians are not always most likely to synchronize at the bridge frequency around 1.0Hz.
Autori uvodno ističu činjenicu da veliki broj parametara utječe na oblikovanje ovješenog mosta. U ovome radu pojašnjeni su osnovni zahtjevi za oblikovanje grede, zatega i pilona. Ovakva podjela nužna ...je radi preglednosti, ali u proračunu valja voditi računa o izraženom međudjelovanju osnovnih nosivih konstrukcijskih elemenata. Nadalje u radu su osnovne karakteristike mosta Jarun objašnjene u sklopu smjernica za oblikovanje ovješenih mostova uz pojašnjenje njegovih posebitosti.

Dinamička ispitivanja zavješenih i visećih mostova prikazana su na primjerima Mosta Franja Tuđmana u Dubrovniku i pješačkog mosta u Osijeku. Kako je utjecaj dinamičkih djelovanja na zavješene i ...viseće mostove veći nego na druge tipove mostova veća je i potreba za njihovu eksperimentalnu verifikaciju. Prikazani su rezultati eksperimentalno određenih dinamičkih parametara (vlastitih frekvencija i prigušenja) prikupljenih u različitim vremenskim intervalima te njihove usporedbe.
Prikazuje se nova metoda umjetne inteligencije: metoda potpornih vektora koja se rabi za klasifikaciju uzoraka i regresijsku analizu. Za primjer je odabran skup podataka koji definiraju parametre ...krutosti zavješenog mosta i pomoću kojih se primjenom ove metode može predvidjeti progib zavješenog mosta od prometnog opterećenja. Dobiveni rezultati su uspoređeni sa stvarnim progibima te progibima dobivenim neuralnom mrežom. Tvrdi se da metoda ima visoku točnost predviđanja progiba.
The present study attempts to determine the optimum cable-stay forces for the design of prestressed concrete (PC) cable-stayed bridges. Unlike the steel cable-stayed bridges, PC cable-stayed bridges ...have two stress adjustment systems, which are systems for cable-stay forces themselves and internal prestress in the main girders. A formulation combining these systems has been presented as a problem of optimization of cable-stay forces. Also formulated is the mechanism of changes in forces due to creep of the concrete and treated is the creep in the optimization process. As a result, determination of the optimum stay forces for PC cable-stayed bridges requires solving two simultaneous systems of the stay forces and the internal prestress. Another result shows that the stay forces tend to approach the characteristic stay forces which are inherent in the individual structure.

Opisuje se povijest priprema za gradnju mosta preko Rijeke Dubrovačke, a također i povijest njegove izgradnje. Prikazane su osnovne karakteristike prvog projektnog rješenja i projekta mosta koji je ...izgrađen. Dani su opisi, uz odgovarajuće crteže, svih glavnih dijelova nosivog sustava: ovješenog sklopa, pilona, prednapetog dijela sklopa, stupa, upornjaka i dr. Prikazani su i bitni elementi složenih provedenih proračuna. Izvedba mosta također je opisana. U zaključku su istaknuta stajališta o doprinosima ovakvih građevina ne samo struci nego i znanosti.
