El propósito de esta investigación fue obtener datos de referencia de deportistas adolescentes tempranos de Judo, Taekwondo y Lucha en un conjunto de pruebas de aptitud física, y evaluar relaciones ...entre las pruebas. Una batería de tests de campo fue implementada: Fuerza en handgrip (HAST), Saltos Abalakov, con Contramovimiento y Squat (ABJ, CMJ y SQJ), Aceleración en sprint 0-10 m (0-10SA) y Flexibilidad “Sit and reach” (SARF). La r de Pearson fue usada para valorar correlaciones entre las capacidades físicas. Análisis de covarianza fueron realizados para evaluar comparativamente los rendimientos en HAST, ABJ, CMJ, SQJ, 0-10SA y SARF. SARF mostró correlaciones despreciables con el resto de las pruebas. Las diferencias entre varones y mujeres parecieron mantenerse constantes a lo largo de los deportes. Los judokas y los taekwondistas mostraron rendimientos más altos en ABJ, y los taekwondistas revelaron rendimientos más altos que los luchadores en CMJ, SQJ y SARF.
La percepción de vitalidad es crítica para el funcionamiento físico, psicológico, y para el bienestar psicológico de los deportistas. Las investigaciones en el ámbito del deporte indican que existe ...una alta correlación entre vitalidad subjetiva y bienestar psicológico, siendo la fortaleza mental una variable protectora para la salud, ya que aumenta el bienestar psicológico. Por ello, el objetivo del presente estudio es conocer el nivel de bienestar psicológico y las posibles relaciones que existen entre los tres constructos en una muestra de adolescentes y adultos jóvenes de alto rendimiento deportivo en deportes de combate. Los resultados indican que existe una relación positiva entre las tres variables, siendo la vitalidad la que explica parte de la fortaleza mental y el bienestar psicológico con un efecto del tamaño alto. Además, la Fortaleza Mental es mediador de la relación de vitalidad subjetiva con bienestar psicológico (B=.122; SE= .028; LLCI=.073; ULCI=.183). Es decir, la vitalidad subjetiva influye en el bienestar psicológico mediante la fortaleza mental. Por tanto, la fortaleza mental no solo es importante como constructo, sino que en este estudio desempeña un rol de mediador. Parece importante el desarrollo de programas de intervención a jóvenes deportistas para la adquisición de habilidades centradas en las variables estudiadas.
The purpose of this study is to examine modern professional male boxing by analyzing world champions differences between winners and losers by categories. 322 male professional boxers (age 28.95 ± ...4.10, height 175.26 ± 9.44 cm, and weight 147.82 ± 31.31 lb) were included in this observational descriptive analysis, through 320 fights separated by weight divisions Heavy (H) (n = 24), Cruiser (C) (n = 48), Light Heavy (LH) (n = 62), Super Middle Weight (SMW) (n = 17), Middle Weight (MW) (n = 68), Light Middle Weight (LMW) (n = 42), Welter Weight (WW) (n = 49), Light Welter Weight (LWW) (n = 28), Light Welter (LW) (n = 33), Super Feather Weight (SFW) (n = 63), Feather Weight (FW) (n = 66), Super Bantam Weight (SBW) (n = 42), Bantam Weight (BW) (n = 30), Super Fly Weight (SFLW) (n = 39), Flyweight (F) (n = 29). Differences were found between winners and losers (U = 57804 - 90908.5; p <.001; d = 0.129 - 0.776) for all the variables analyzed. Four significant correlations were highlighted: %PL (Percentage of Punches Landed) (rho = .630); AVG PLxR (Punches Landed Per Round) (rho = .594); AVG PPLxR (Power Punches Landed Per Round) (rho = .517); %PPL (Percentage of Power Punches Landed) (rho = .672) and differences were also observed between weight categories (H = 32.29 - 93.11; p <.001 - .004), except for %PL, AVG JLxR, %JL (Percentage of Jabs Landed) and %PPL. This data suggests that in order to win these events, fighters must deliver precise punches, especially power punches, and that there are differences between the categories with this type of punch (AVG PPLxR).
Introduction: Over the years, there has been an increase in the prevalence of Autism. It has been shown that martial arts are an effective intervention in controlling the symptoms of children and ...adolescents. However, there needs to be reviews that focus on synthesizing this evidence. Objective: Synthesize the current information on the effects and characteristics of carrying out martial arts programs and their effects on autistic traits in children and adolescents. Methodology: Systematic review that adheres to the Prisma 2020 declaration. The search was carried out in the Scielo, PubMed, Pedro, Cochrane Library, ProQuest, Springer Link, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect databases, and randomized and non-randomized clinical trials were selected. Results: Martial arts as a therapeutic intervention had statistically significant beneficial effects on stereotyped behavior 100% (5 of 5 studies), social interaction 100% (3 of 3 studies), emotion management 100% (3 of 3 studies), regulation of behavior 75% (3 of 4 studies), behavioral problems 75% (3 of 4 studies) and difficulty communicating 75% (3 of 4 studies). The most widely used martial art as a therapeutic intervention program was karate. Conclusion: The most evaluated areas in autistic treats are stereotyped behaviors, behavioral problems, social interaction, and communication difficulties. Finally, it was observed that the martial arts programs had favorable effects on ASD symptoms in behavioral, social, and communication skills.
Introducción: La prevalencia del autismo se ha incrementado significativamente. También, se ha evidenciado que las artes marciales son una intervención efectiva en el control de la sintomatología de niños, niñas y adolescentes con TEA. Sin embargo, no existen revisiones enfocadas en sintetizar esta evidencia. Objetivo: Sintetizar la información existente sobre las características de los programas de artes marciales y sus efectos sobre rasgos autistas en niños y adolescentes. Metodología: Revisión sistemática que se adscribe a la declaración Prisma 2020. La búsqueda de información se realizó en las bases de datos Scielo, PubMed, Pedro, Cochrane Library, ProQuest, Springer Link, Web of Science y ScienceDirect. Se seleccionaron Ensayos clínicos aleatorizados y no aleatorizados. Resultados: Las artes marciales como intervención terapéutica tuvieron efectos beneficiosos estadísticamente significativos en conductas estereotipadas 100% (5 de 5 estudios), interacción social 100% (3 de 3 estudios), manejo de las emociones 100% (3 de 3 estudios), regulación de la conducta 75% (3 de 4 estudios), problemas conductuales 75% (3 de 4 estudios) y dificultad para comunicarse 75% (3 de 4 estudios). El arte marcial más utilizado como programa de intervención fue el karate. Conclusión: Las áreas más evaluadas en los rasgos autistas son las conductas estereotipadas, problemas conductuales, interacción social y dificultad de la comunicación. Finalmente se observó que los programas de artes marciales tuvieron efectos favorables en rasgos autistas en áreas de habilidades conductuales, habilidades sociales y habilidades comunicativas.
This study aimed to investigate the long-term effects of an adapted judo program on the motor skills and psychosocial abilities of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
All participants had ...been diagnosed with ASD and were assessed twice, one time at the start of the intervention and again 6 months later, with the Test of Gross Motor Development (TGMD-3) and the Gilliam Autism Rating Scale-Third Edition (GARS-3). A one-way repeated measures MANOVA was carried out in order to evaluate these assessments, and a mediation analysis was done to determine the relationship between them.
The experimental group significantly improved (
< 0.05) from the pre-test to the post-test for several subtests of the TGMD-3 and the GARS-3.
The study shows that participation in an adapted judo program clearly helps to improve the motor skills and psychosocial behaviors of children with ASD.
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the SLC6A4 gene’s 5-HTTLPR polymorphism and aggression levels among elite combat athletes. A total of 40 male athletes from taekwondo (N=10), ...kickboxing (N=10), boxing (N=10) and wrestling (N=10), aged between 20-35 years, participated in the study. The quantitative data was collected by using a personal information form and the Aggression Scale Inventory. Whole blood samples were taken for DNA isolation and genotyping analysis was performed. In 5-HTTLPR polymorphism, 38.8% (31) had the L allele and 61.3% (49) had the S allele. The highest S allele distribution in 5-HTTLPR polymorphism was found in taekwondo branch (32.7%). In 5-HTTLPR polymorphism, 77.5% (31) and 9% (22.5%) of the athletes had L/S and S/S genotyping, respectively. According to the aggression scale inventory, it was found that the wrestling branch had the highest general aggression mean (114.60), however; there was no significant difference between the sub-dimensions of aggression (Destructive, Attemptive and Passive) in branch comparisons (p>0.05). Based on the applied aggression scale inventory and genetic analysis of SLC6A4 gene 5-HTTLPR polymorphism, it can be considered that the combat athletes participating in the study are tend to aggression.
As widespread physical pursuits and popular entertainment forms, combat sports inform and constrain social understandings of violence. Recent research has discussed martial artists’ positioning of ...their practice vis-à-vis violence and the production of ‘martial arts’ as a category referencing, but not defined exclusively by, violence. For combat sports—an overlapping, competition-oriented category—violence occupies a place of tension. They attract spectators through presentation as violent blood-sports, but competitors and spectators necessarily also understand them as regulated performances. Popular music plays an important role in contextualizing combat sports as conforming to a socially sanctioned model of violent spectacle through walkout music played prior to matches, a form that references other sportive and staged productions of violence for entertainment. Music simultaneously defines combat sports as violent spectacles and constrains them as sports, controlled abstractions of violence with aesthetic goals. Drawing on analysis of videos of walkouts at mixed martial arts events, this article details popular music’s roles in defining and constraining combat sports. The walkout is examined as an affective vibrational phenomenon that varies through specific iterations and media, acquiring, amplifying, negating, or altering sometimes contradictory meanings, and lending emotional weight to the ideologies represented. Throughout these transformations, the walkout serves to position the MMA match as a socially permissible sportive contest that draws on aesthetic references to an imagined model of unsanctioned violence.

This report describes the 7th European Judo Science & Research Symposium & 6th Scientific and Professional Conference - "Applicable research in judo" held in Poreč, Croatia on June 19-20, 2023. The ...two-day conference included three keynote speakers on the first day and 20 oral presentations divided into two sections. The second day included four practical sessions, which closed the program. The conference proceedings book was published, which includes 24 papers. The conference was again impeccably organised and had an outstanding return after the Covid-19 interruption, with many exciting topics presented by researchers and judo practitioners. Additionally, slightly more judo coaches and ex-athletes joined the conference, bringing us one step closer to tightening the gap between judo science and coaching.
