L’articolo definisce alcuni aspetti del confine come tecnologia politica di selezione e governo della mobilità, individuando i tratti decisivi di un immaginario del confine, cioè di un sistema di ...significati istituenti che strutturano specifiche articolazioni di attori, discorsi, rappresentazioni e modalità operative. Tra il 2015 e il 2016 un incremento degli arrivi sulle coste italiane e la reintroduzione di controlli e blocchi ai confini da parte di Stati confinanti con l’Italia, hanno trasformato al-cune stazioni ferroviarie in nodi di transito di flussi di mobilità secondaria, deter-minando specifici scenari di emergenza. Facendo riferimento alla città di Como, l’autore indaga il modo in cui questa emergenza ha costituito, dentro e attorno alla stazione, spazi di visibilità, regimi discorsivi e interazioni tra differenti attori, evi-denziando le tensioni tra investimenti securitari, forme di assistenza e pratiche di resistenza. The paper defines some aspects of the border as a political technology for the selection and governance of mobility, identifying the decisive traits of a border imaginary, that is, a system of founding meanings that structure specific articulations of actors, discourses, representations and operating procedures. Between 2015 and 2016, an increase in arrivals on Italian coasts and the reintroduction of border controls and blockades by States bordering Italy, have transformed some railway stations into transit nodes of secondary mobility flows, defining emergency scenarios. Referring to the city of Como, the author investigates the way in which this emergency has constituted, in and around the station, spaces of visibility, discursive regimes and interactions between different actors, highlighting the tensions between securitarian approaches, forms of assistance and practices of resistance.
The Mediterranean region has always been during its long history a theater of migratory movements. During the 19th and 20th centuries this region has witnessed migrations related to the formation of ...Nation-States, wars and for some countries, the efforts of States to homogenize their population. The formation of national borders of the new States has forced some populations of the Mediterranean area to move towards the territories of other neighboring States. The migration of Anatolian Greeks to Greece and Turks from Greece to Turkey is one of the best examples of these obligatory movements of populations that had as a result a different perception of the Greek-Turkish border rather than a usual national border between two countries.
Aim of the study is to show the meaning of the concepts of ‘borders’ and ‘thresholds’ in Bakhtin’s thought. The two complementary concepts play a big role in the scholar’s ontology of relation. This ...essay focuses particularly on the first bakhtinian works, the philosophical and aesthetical ones, where ‘border’ is the same authorial activity, the “gift of the form”, encompassing and closing the content. It is indeed a useful concept for Bakhtin to fight the einfühlung theoreticians’ statements, but it will be soon susceptible of a reconsideration with regards to Dostoevsky’s heroes, to their constitutive insubordination and refractoriness to any definitive closure.
At the core of this article lies the concept of identity as the result of an unbroken journey from one visible location to another from which one can return, and of a circular process of an endless ...creation of possibilities in which every choice, act and behaviour actualises an aspect of the possible, transforming it into reality, thereby simultaneously creating yet another possibility. From this perspective arises the centralness of invisible space which concurrently distinguishes and connects the possible and the realised: a kind of ‘third state’ lying between the restraints of the sense of reality and the spectrum of opportunity offered by opening up to contigency. This ‘intermediate space’ in which the tension between the two aforementioned fires pulses and from which meaning emerges, which is characterised by a certain ‘translucence’ which renders it partly invisible not only to the eye of the other but also to one’s introspective analysis, should not be completely obscured lest one remain victim to an elusive and incomplete individuation. This approach obliges one to pass from an ‘objectifying’ mindset to one based on a new way of conceptualising the human subject, in which alongside reality, one begins to identify the formation of the possible and of the project, as an equally legitimate way of sighting the human experience. This contributes to fuel the idea that in the evolution of the process of individuation, the expressions of the inner world play a fundamental role, those manifestations of the driving force of our thought which expresses itself through reciprocal communication and language, and above all by mediating the products of literary and artistic creativity.
The perception of landscape and its literary representations of the Lake Garda area is thematically proposed as a metaphor of the concept of boundary or threshold and is recognized as a predominant ...characteristic of theLake Garda area and more generally of the Trentino Alto Adige. In this paper I propose a series of theoretical observations in constant dialogue with the historical and literary dynamics that aim to present this particular landscape as a place where we combine perceptive, representational, cultural contrasts, crossing classicism, modernism and postmodernism. North / South, Mediterranean / Alpine, locus amoenus / locus horridus, renovation of the landscape / death of the landscape are just some of the antithesis of the space of Northern Lake Garda. Perhaps, these opposites may help define a border reality, which can be recognized in many other places of the Italian landscape and beyond. One in the mirror of the other, travelers and writers, as Virgil, Dante, Montaigne, Goethe, Mann, Kafka, configure the landscape identity then made of a space capable of expressing the sense of being on the border and at the same time reflecting on landscape as a postmodern aesthetic product integrated in the production of goods in general.
A border encompasses three different meanings: a line to be defended or crossed, an empty area to avoid contact and a space which produces new meanings. Since the unification of Italy its eastern ...border has mostly been perceived as a line of conflict. Only for a few decades has it been devoid of violence. Its conflictual character is to be sought in a general cultural process which from the 6th to the 8th century saw Slav populations settle on the periphery of what was then the “centre” of the civilised world (Rome and Byzantium). The Slavs demanded recognition on an equal footing with the dominant model of civilisation, which considered the “Slav presence” as inferior. To move beyond a deep-rooted conflict it will be necessary to reconsider the border as a space with positive potential.
Speaking of literature and geography today means clarifying and rebuilding ideologies and speeches inscribed in space. Geography - and its related discourses - implies the activation of a number of ...concepts such as knowledge, power, science, discursive formations, gaze, episteme. Each of these terms would be meaningless without geographical contextualization.

The title of this journal allows me to turn it to my advantage by developing a series of brief reflections on the concept of the distinguishing element and on its expendability at different levels, ...beneath the three fixed thematic poles: borders, boundaries, and limits. I will do this via an equal number of lexical choices: places, things, and people.
Nina Coltart's freedom in addressing delicate areas such as spirituality and Buddhism within a psychoanalytic framework has opened borders between different psychoanalytic communities. This paper ...sets out to identify a deep‐rooted philosophical tension that runs through several aspects of Coltart's work starting from her ‘Slouching towards Bethlehem … or, thinking the unthinkable in psychoanalysis’. In exploring this central topic in depth psychology, of the distinction between thinkable and unthinkable contents, the author argues that it is not a fundamental distinction in Coltart's work but is rather a particular example of a more fundamental structural dichotomy which pervades her approach and which manifests in several different guises. It is the breadth and sincerity of Coltart's writings which make this a useful exercise, not only for understanding the structure of her work but also in illuminating some structural tensions which permeate depth‐psychological pursuits in general.

La liberté de Nina Coltart à aborder des domaines sensibles, tels que la spiritualité et le Bouddhisme, dans un cadre psychanalytique, a ouvert les frontières entre les différentes communautés psychanalytiques. Cet article vise à identifier une tension philosophique bien ancrée qui parcourt plusieurs aspects de l'œuvre de Coltart, en commençant par son livre « Slouching towards Bethlehem…or thinking the unthinkable in psychoanalysis » (« Aller vers Bethléem en s'avachissant… ou penser l'impensable en psychanalyse »). En explorant ce sujet central à la psychologie des profondeurs ‐ la distinction entre les contenus pensables et impensables ‐ l'auteur soutient que cela n'est pas une distinction fondamentale dans l'œuvre de Coltart, mais que c'est plutôt un exemple particulier d'une dichotomie structurelle plus fondamentale qui infuse son approche et qui prend différentes formes. C'est la grandeur et la sincérité des écrits de Coltart qui font de ceci un exercice utile, pas seulement pour comprendre la structure de son travail mais en mettant en lumière quelques‐unes des tensions structurelles qui imprègnent généralement les recherches en psychologie des profondeurs.
Die Freiheit, die Nina Coltart sich nimmt, delikate Bereiche wie Spiritualität und Buddhismus innerhalb eines psychoanalytischen Rahmens anzugehen, hat Grenzen zwischen unterschiedlichen psychoanalytischen Gemeinschaften geöffnet. Diese Abhandlung unternimmt es, eine tief verwurzelte philosophische Spannung zu identifizieren, die sich durch einige Aspekte von Coltarts Arbeiten zieht, beginnend bei ihrem 'Slouching towards Bethlehem … or, thinking the unthinkable in psychoanalysis'. Bei der Untersuchung dieses zentralen Themas der Tiefenpsychologie, der Unterscheidung zwischen denkbarem und undenkbarem Inhalt, argumentiert der Autor, daß es nicht um eine grundlegende Unterscheidung in Coltarts Werk geht, sondern vielmehr um ein besonderes Beispiel für eine grundlegendere strukturelle Dichotomie, die ihren Ansatz durchdringt und die sich in verschiedenen Gestalten manifestiert. Es sind die Breite und die Aufrichtigkeit von Coltarts Schriften, die diese zu einer nützlichen Lektüre machen, nicht nur um die Struktur ihres Werkes zu verstehen, sondern auch um einige der strukturellen Spannungen zu beleuchten, welche tiefenpsychologische Bestrebungen generell durchdringen.
La libertà con cui Nina Coltart ha esplorato aree delicate, come la spiritualità ed il Buddismo, all'interno di una cornice psicoanalitica, ha aperto i confini tra le diverse comunità psicoanalitiche. Questo articolo si propone di identificare una tensione filosofica profondamente radicata che attraversa diversi aspetti del lavoro della Coltart, a cominciare dal suo “Girovagando verso Betlemme… ovvero pensare l'impensabile in psicoanalisi”. Nell'esplorare questo tema centrale nella psicologia del profondo, cioè la differenza tra contenuti pensabili e non pensabili, l'Autore afferma che non si tratta di una distinzione fondamentale, nel lavoro della Coltart, ma piuttosto si tratta di un chiaro esempio della dicotomia strutturale e fondante che pervade il suo approccio e che si manifesta in diversi aspetti. È l'ampiezza e la sincerità degli scritti della Coltart che ne fa un esercizio utile, non solamente per comprendere la struttura del suo lavoro, ma anche per far luce su alcune tensioni strutturali che caratterizzano la pratica della psicologia del profondo in generale

El presente ensayo propone identificar una tensión filosófica profundamente enraizada que discurre a través de diversos aspectos del trabajo de Coltart comenzando por su ‘Caminando hacia Bethlehem … o, pensando lo impensable en psicoanálisis’. Al explorar este tema central en la psicología profunda, sobre la distinción entre los contenidos pensables e impensables, el autor afirma que no es una distinción fundamental en el trabajo de Coltart, sino que es, más bien un ejemplo de una más fundamental dicotomía estructural, la cual permea su aproximación y se manifiesta de diversas maneras. La amplitud y sinceridad de la escritura de Coltart resulta un útil ejercicio, no solamente para comprender la estructura de su trabajo, sino para iluminar algunas tensiones estructurales que permean las actividades de la psicología profunda en general.

This article focuses on the Mexico-United States border creation between 1821, year of the Mexican independence from Spain, and 1924, when the establishment of the Border Patrol shaped the current ...border control structure. This process will be analysed through the lens of smuggling, considering both the thread of union and separation that still determines the relations between the two countries. In particular, during the 50 years between the war against the United States (1846-1848) and the end of Porfírio Diaz’s regime in 1910, two simultaneous trends developed: on one side, the border crystallized, resulting in the consolidation of the flimsy “line of sand”, on the other side, a counter movement split the two national sovereignties , claiming their respective territories. Smuggling was the very first, fundamental human behaviour marking the border, paradoxically by challenging it.
