Objective To assess feasibility and safety of providing autologous umbilical cord blood (UCB) cells to neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Study design We enrolled infants in the ...intensive care nursery who were cooled for HIE and had available UCB in an open-label study of non-cyropreserved autologous volume- and red blood cell-reduced UCB cells (up to 4 doses adjusted for volume and red blood cell content, 1-5 × 107 cells/dose). We recorded UCB collection and cell infusion characteristics, and pre- and post-infusion vital signs. As exploratory analyses, we compared cell recipients' hospital outcomes (mortality, oral feeds at discharge) and 1-year survival with Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, 3rd edition scores ≥85 in 3 domains (cognitive, language, and motor development) with cooled infants who did not have available cells. Results Twenty-three infants were cooled and received cells. Median collection and infusion volumes were 36 and 4.3 mL. Vital signs including oxygen saturation were similar before and after infusions in the first 48 postnatal hours. Cell recipients and concurrent cooled infants had similar hospital outcomes. Thirteen of 18 (74%) cell recipients and 19 of 46 (41%) concurrent cooled infants with known 1-year outcomes survived with scores >85. Conclusions Collection, preparation, and infusion of fresh autologous UCB cells for use in infants with HIE is feasible. A randomized double-blind study is needed.
The Cenomanian–Turonian boundary (CTB) on the intra-Tethyan Adriatic Carbonate Platform (AdCP) is generally characterised by a transition between microbially laminated and/or bioclastic limestones to ...calcisphere-rich massive limestone with bioturbated intervals, organic-rich interbeds, firmgrounds, as well as neptunian dikes, carbonate turbidites, tempestites and slumped structures. Compilation of the results from two study sites in the northwestern part of the AdCP and from previous research (on Istria Peninsula and islands in the Adriatic Sea in Croatia) provides a more complete overview of geological events and paleoenvironmental conditions that transformed the formerly contiguous shallow-marine environments during this time period. For the first time, a comparison between protected inner-platform area (Barban section) and a coeval intra-platform basin (Premuda Island section) during the CTB was made. This study utilized a combination of litho-, bio-, and microfacies studies with SEM, EDS, TOC, δ13C and δ18O stable isotope analyses. The stratigraphic successions start with shallow-marine carbonate deposits of the Milna Formation that is conformably overlain by the drowned-platform deposits of the Sveti Duh Formation on the platform and by the Veli Rat Formation in the contemporaneously developed intraplatform basin. These deposits are in turn overlain by the Gornji Humac Formation, which represents re-establishment of shallow-marine depositional systems on the AdCP, whereas the deeper water environment persisted in the intra-platform basin until the Santonian.
Despite diagenetic modifications of shallow-marine carbonate deposits, the results of TOC and stable isotope analyses indicate the influence of global Oceanic Anoxic Event 2 (OAE2). Combination of local and regional synsedimentary tectonics and global Late Cretaceous sea-level changes accompanied by anoxic and hypoxic conditions, extinction of numerous benthic foraminifera, diversification and expansion of planktonic foraminifera and calcareous dinoflagellates, provide new insights into the character of the CTB interval in this part of the Tethyan realm.

Ovo se istraživanje pokrenulo (ne)prilikom rata u Ukrajini. Nakana autora nije bila govoriti o ratu u biblijskoj dimenziji tog pojma, nego želja za ukazanjem različitosti između mira koji svijet ne ...može dati na isti način na koji ga Bog daje. Jer sam Bog je mir. Ljudska nastojanja oko mira samo su prividna. Zato ovaj članak pokušava približiti pojam mira u Ivanovoj perspektivi te ukazati na njegov sadržaj. U ovom se članku istražuje također mogućnost primjenjivanja evanđeoskog teksta na svakodnevnicu. Isus je Mir i samo on može donijeti onaj dugotrajni mir. Mir koji pruža Mesija svojoj Crkvi nepresušan je lijek za zdravlje duše i tijela. On pobjeđuje svaki strah i tugu. Sve su to iskusili prvi učenici, a s njima i Crkva.
This study began during the war in Ukraine. The authors’ intention was not to discuss war in the biblical dimension of this term, but rather to show the difference between the peace that the world cannot give and the peace that God gives. Because God himself is peace. Human efforts to achieve peace are merely ostensible. Therefore, this article attempts to approach the concept of peace from John’s Gospel perspective and to demonstrate its content. This article should be an encouragement to many who are searching for both peace within and outside of themselves. Jesus is peace and only he can bring this lasting peace. The peace that the Messiah offers to His Church is an inexhaustible remedy for the health of the body and the soul.
Ideja o humanom obrazovanju njemačkog filozofa religije Bernharda Weltea, koju izlaže u svojem spisu Zur Idee einer humanen Bildung aus christlichem Geist1 i o kojoj se govori u zborniku o Kršćanskom ...odgoju i obrazovanju danas, od središnje je važnosti za razumijevanje njegove misli o Bezuvjetnom kao Tajni koja nas sve nadilazi. Postavlja se pitanje: Kako će čovjek odgovoriti toj Tajni, s obzirom na odgovornost koju ima prenoseći odgojne i obrazovne ciljeve na drugoga koji od njega ima učiti? Škole, sveučilišta, obrazovne i odgojne ustanove suočavaju se s velikim izazovima zbog društvenih i tehničkih promjena. Istodobno su se ponovno pojavila osnovna pitanja ljudskog obrazovanja i odgoja: Što je zapravo obrazovanje i odgoj ljudi? Tko je obrazovana osoba? Koje su karakteristike dobre škole? Za kršćane se ta pitanja ponovno nameću s obzirom na specifičnosti kršćanskog obrazovanja i odgoja te njegove posebne izazove u našem vremenu. U zaključnom dijelu, na temelju prethodnih spoznaja, autorica promišlja uz Welteovu pjesmu o onome što nam je činiti kako bi odgojni proces i obrazovanje zadobili humani karakter koji će biti utemeljen na kršćanskom duhu.
The idea of human education by the German philosopher of religion Bernhard Welte, which is outlined in Zur Idee einer humanen Bildung aus christlichem Geist (=Gesammelte Schriften I/4) On the Idea of a Humane Education from a Christian Spirit (=Collected Writings I/4), and which is also elaborated in the miscellany Christian education and schooling nowadays, is of the uttermost importance in understanding his thoughts on the Unconditional as a Secret which transcends everything. It is the matter of how one can formulate a response to this Secret, taking into consideration the responsibility one has in transmitting pedagogical and educational objectives to others, which they will have to learn from him/her. Schools, universities, pedagogical and educational institutions have been facing great challenges arising from the social and technical transformations. At the same time, some elementary questions about the human education and schooling have reemerged: what is actually education and schooling of people? Who can be named an educated person? What are the characteristics of a good school? For Christians, all these issues are again in vigour because of the specific conditions of Christian education and schooling, having in mind all the precarities this type of education has to face in our times. In the concluding part, on the basis of the previous knowledge, the author contemplates, alongside Welte’s poem, about what we should do so that the education and the pedagogical processes might gain the human character which will be based in the Christian Spirit.
Članak se bavi teologijom krštenja Duhom Svetim u kontekstu pozicije Martyna Lloyda-Jonesa i pentekostnog pokreta Assemblies of God. Osim što članak obrađuje kratki povijesni i kontekstualni pregled ...teologije krštenja Duhom kod pentekostnog pokreta i Lloyda-Jonesa, također nam daje na uvid i njihove primarne naglaske. Obje skupine tvrde da je krštenje Duhom odvojeno iskustvo od novog rođenja, gdje Assemblies of God smatra da je bitno naglasiti da ono što se postiže krštenjem Duhom jest otvorenost za nova iskustva, posvećenje te govorenje u jezicima. Lloyd-Jones se slaže s tim, ali uz iznimku da je krštenje Duhom jednako pečaćenju vidljivom u Poslanici Efežanima, smatrajući pečaćenje inicijalnim znakom krštenja Duhom kao snažno osvjedočenje onog što već imamo (sinovstvo) te snažno iskustvo Božje ljubavi koje je pokretač za snažno propovijedanje i svjedočenje. Prema Lloydu-Jonesu njegovo tumačenje dara govorenja u jezicima jest različito od poimanja Assemblies of God. Jezici nisu nužno inicijalni znak krštenja Duhom, a njihova upotreba nije u kontroli čovjeka, već u vlasti suverenog djelovanja Duha. Članak pojašnjava ove razlike i sličnosti te poziva na dijalog i razmatranje misli Lloyda-Jonesa u njegovu doprinosu pentekostnoj teologiji krštenja Duhom.
U ovom se radu istražuju pretpostavke i načini na koje se može razumjeti ideja europskoga identiteta na duhovnim temeljima, odnosno konkretnije, uvjeti mogućnosti za tumačenje europskoga identiteta u ...kontekstu proučavanja zajedničke kulturne povijesti europskih naroda. Budući da je naša izvorišna osnova tumačenja povijesti Europe princip duha, koji se u povijesnoj sferi ponajprije utjelovljuje u domeni onoga kulturnoga, čija je reprezentacija sâm život duha u umjetnosti, no ponajprije u filozofiji i religiji, za početak istraživanja odabrali smo upravo djelo britanskoga filozofa i povjesničara kulture Christophera Dawsona, koji na jedan uzorni način demonstrira ono do čega nam je u ovom radu ponajprije stalo. Uzimajući u obzir hijerarhizaciju stupnjeva zbiljnosti – duh, kultura, religija – Dawson konstruira koncept europskoga identiteta, već po definiciji zajedničkoga svim europskim narodima kao povijesnim tvorbama, tumačeći europsku kulturu kao izraz onoga organskoga. Upravo zato smijemo govoriti o korijenima europskoga identiteta. U smislu svega prethodno rečenoga, zajednički europski identitet, koji počiva na europskoj kulturi, svoje korijene ima u kršćanskoj filozofiji i religiji koja, prema Dawsonu, nije puka idealistička činjenica, nego je izraz povijesne, političke, društvene i pravne zbiljnosti.
This paper investigates the assumptions and ways of understanding the idea of European identity on a spiritual basis, or more specifically, the conditions of possibility for the interpretation of European identity in the context of studying the common cultural history of the European nations. Since our source of interpretation of European history is the principle of the spirit, which in the historical sphere is primarily embodied in the domain of that which is cultural, whose representation is the life of the spirit in art, but primarily in philosophy and religion, we chose the work of British philosopher and cultural historian Christopher Dawson, who demonstrates, in an exemplary way, what we care about most in this paper. Taking into account the hierarchy of degrees of reality – spirit, culture, religion – Dawson constructs the concept of European identity, by definition already common to all European nations as historical creations, interpreting European culture as an expression of the organic. That is exactly why we can talk about the roots of European identity. In terms of all the above said, a common European identity, based on European culture, has its roots in the Christian philosophy and religion, which, according to Dawson, is not a mere idealistic fact, but an expression of historical, political, social, and legal reality.

O prvom zagrebačkom biskupu, Čehu Duhu, u povijesnim izvorima postoje vrlo oskudni podaci. Ne zna se kada i gdje je rođen i umro i koliko dugo je u Zagrebu obnašao biskupsku službu, no povjesničari i ...filolozi ipak su pokušali rekonstruirati njegovo podrijetlo. Tako su stvorene hipoteze da je Duh bio češki benediktinac, iz glagoljaškog samostana u Sázavi ili latinskog samostana u Břevnovu kraj Praga, ili pak redovnik nekog glagoljaškog samostana na području panonske Hrvatske, rodom iz sela Čehi kraj Zagreba. Biskupu Duhu u zasluge se ubraja početak izgradnje zagrebačke katedrale, donošenje najstarijih do danas sačuvanih knjiga u Zagreb te nastanak glosa na hrvatskom jeziku u Radonovoj Bibliji. Iako je u povijesnom sjećanju dugo bio potisnut i imao drugorazrednu ulogu u odnosu na osnivača Zagrebačke biskupije kralja Ladislava, u posljednjih desetak godina biskup Duh kao osoba s kojom počinju hrvatsko-češki odnosi i nazočnost Čeha na području Hrvatske postaje sve poznatiji zahvaljujući češkoj manjini i Hrvatsko-češkom društvu. U Zagrebu je 2005. dobio stube sa svojim imenom, a 2014. spomenik u Dubravi kraj Vrbovca.
p53‐Transcriptional‐regulated proteins interact with a large number of other signal transduction pathways in the cell, and a number of positive and negative autoregulatory feedback loops act upon the ...p53 response. P53 directly controls the POMC/α‐MSH productions induced by ultraviolet (UV) and is associated with UV‐independent pathological pigmentation. When identifying the causative gene of dyschromatosis universalis hereditaria (DUH), we found three mutations encoding amino acid substitutions in the gene SAM and SH3 domain containing 1 (SASH1), and SASH1 was associated with guanine nucleotide‐binding protein subunit‐alpha isoforms short (Gαs). However, the pathological gene and pathological mechanism of DUH remain unknown for about 90 years. We demonstrate that SASH1 is physiologically induced by p53 upon UV stimulation and SASH and p53 is reciprocally induced at physiological and pathophysiological conditions. SASH1 is regulated by a novel p53/POMC/α‐MSH/Gαs/SASH1 cascade to mediate melanogenesis. A novel p53/POMC/Gαs/SASH1 autoregulatory positive feedback loop is regulated by SASH1 mutations to induce pathological hyperpigmentation phenotype. Our study demonstrates that a novel p53/POMC/Gαs/SASH1 autoregulatory positive feedback loop is regulated by SASH1 mutations to induce pathological hyperpigmentation phenotype.
Kroz temeljne poveznice Blažene Djevice Marije s njezinim sinom Isusom Kristom u sili Duha Svetoga, članak prikazuje Gospinu arhetipsku ulogu u otajstvu otkupljenja i produhovljenja čovjeka. Autori, ...prije svega, objašnjavaju bit procesa otkupljenja i produhovljenja čovjeka u Isusu Kristu snagom Duha Svetoga. U drugom dijelu, kroz razmatranje glavnih marioloških naslova, govori se o ulozi Marije kao Majke Gospodinove i Zaručnice Duha Svetoga te praliku Crkve u istim procesima. U zadnjem dijelu rada, kroz pogled na Gospu koja je tip euharistijskog čovjeka, govori se o mogućnosti produhovljenja čovjeka već ovdje na zemlji te o konačnom ispunjenju njegove eshatološke nade i utjehe.
Through the fundamental links of the Blessed Virgin Mary with her son Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, the article shows the archetypal role of Our Lady in the mystery of the redemption and spiritualization of man. The authors, first of all, explain the essence of the process of redemption and spiritualization of man in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the second part, through the consideration of the main Mariological titles, the role of Mary as the Mother of the Lord and Spouse of the Holy Spirit is discussed, as well as the role of the Church in the same processes. In the last part of the work, through the view of Our Lady who is the type of the Eucharistic man, we talk about the possibility of spiritualizing man already here on earth and about the final fulfilment of his eschatological hope and consolation.
Pojam »novog rođenja« u Iv 3,5 često se rabi u biblijskoj teologiji i predmet je egzegetsko- hermeneutičkih istraživanja. U kontekstu Isusove otvorene antropologije »novo rođenje odozgor« postaje još ...više očitijim znakom nadnaravne Božje intervencije u životu ne samo Nikodema nego i svakog čovjeka. U susretu Isusa i Nikodema Isus objašnjava Nikodemu – čovjeku i farizeju – put spasenja koji zahtijeva njegovu vjeru. Mnogi interpretatori tog odlomka vide u djelovanju Duha Svetoga i u »rađanju iz vode « sakrament krštenja. Iako evanđelist rabi tehniku nesporazuma i prekida dijaloške komunikacije unutar kompozicije, ipak Isus s ljubavlju pristupa predstavniku religijskih oponenata i navješćuje mu put k Božjem kraljevstvu u koje se ulazi na nov način – po milosti odozgor.
