Rewilding is an increasingly popular strategy in landscape management, yet it is also controversial, especially when applied in culturally 'layered' landscapes. In this paper I examine what is ...morally at stake in debates between proponents of rewilding and those that see traditional
cultural landscapes as worthy of protection. I will argue that rewilding should not only be understood as a conservation practice, but that we also need to understand its hermeneutic aspect. Rewilding implies a radical non-anthropocentric normative reinterpretation of landscape and human history
that calls for a critical re-examination of the cultural identities that are based on that history
Th e theoretical part of the paper introduces environmental ethics and points out its most frequent issues. It shows that the objective of education is to support pupils in their autonomous decision ...making. Th e objectives of this research study were a) to implement the environmental activity “At the Swallow’s Nest” with primary school pupils and to verify its functionality, b) to find out what decisions were taken by pupils and how these decisions were justified, and c) to discover what influenced the pupils’ decision making. For these purposes, the method of action research was used, based on records of children’s statements, a description of their behaviour, and a questionnaire survey. Overall, the author conducted the activity with 380 primary school pupils. Th e questionnaire was collected from 158 pupils. Th e results show that: (a) primary pupils can already discuss environmental problems and learn how to solve them; b) the pupils’ decisions are influenced by a number of variables, c) there is no correlation between a decision and any of the controlled variables (age, family background, religion, etc.). A single dependency was detected, namely the dependency on the group (if it was a permanent group), which (given that the voting was anonymous) can be interpreted as the influence of the class teacher on their pupils’ decisions. Conclusions: Although solving similar types of activities is not common in the conception of environmental education in Czech schools (let alone on the primary school level), similar pedagogical interventions seem to be a suitable tool in environmental moral education.

Governing risks is not only a technical matter, but also a matter of ethical and societal considerations. In this article, we argue that in addition to scientific and technical uncertainties, we need ...to also address normative uncertainties of risk decisions. We define normative uncertainties as situations where there are different partially morally defensible ‐‐ but incompatible ‐‐ options or courses of action, or ones in which there is no fully morally defensible option. We conceptualize normative uncertainties, distinguishing between the four categories of evolutionary, theoretical, conceptual, and epistemic normative uncertainties. We will show different instances of normative uncertainties in climate adaptation strategies. We finally present two methods for identifying and dealing with normative uncertainties, namely, the Wide Reflective Equilibrium and adaptive planning. Situations of normative uncertainties have always been and will continue to be present in risk decisions and they have often been dealt with in an implicit manner. In this article, we make them explicit, which could lead to better morally informed and justified decisions about climate risks.

When governing climate adaptation risks, we need to identify and address normative uncertainties. This paper proposes a method for this.
Compared with men, women often express stronger proenvironmental attitudes and values and more frequently engage in private environmental behaviors (e.g., recycling), but not in public environmental ...behaviors (e.g., joining a protest about an environmental issue). This study uses the 2010 General Social Survey data to test whether this pattern is driven by the differing biographical availability of men and women. Do women’s time constraining commitments, such as having a paid job, living in multi-adult households, or parenting, relate to fewer public environmental behaviors but not fewer private behaviors? Results show that living with other adults while parenting increases the odds that a woman rather than a man performs no public behavior, but having a paid job does not. Living with other adults and not having a paid job also increase women’s participation in private behaviors. This study offers partial support for the biographical availability thesis, while also discovering a link between biographical availability and private environmental behaviors.
Individualist normative theories appear inadequate for the complex moral challenges of climate change. In climate ethics, this is especially notable with the relative marginalization of Kant. I argue ...that Kant’s philosophy, understood through its historical and cosmopolitan dimensions, has untapped potential for the climate crisis. First, I situate Kant in climate ethics and evaluate his marginalization due to perceived individualism, interiority and anthropocentrism. Then, I explore aspects of Kant’s historical and cosmopolitan writings, which present a global, future-orientated picture of humanity. Ultimately, Kant’s philosophy offers a unique take on the climate deadlock capable of sustaining the individual in the collective.
In the conditions of a global crisis education represents the most efficient way of forming a social and intellectual basis for the implementation of sustainable development principles and ...coevolution ideas. Due to mounting problems related to sustainable development the need of education for sustainable development continues growing. The article views the contemporary state of education for sustainable development (ESD). ESD is regarded as a way of forming of new consciousness and behavior through which human development course should be adjusted. A positive role of environmental ethics in the creation and development of ESD is shown. The experience of the Baikal region in the implementation of the ESD concept on the principles of environmental ethics is considered.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), like the sustainable development (SD) concept itself, are open to multifaceted interpretations, and the same is true for their ethical implications. While ...SDG values are widely accepted as universal, the ethical structure of the SDGs is complex, with differing interpretations and ideas, e.g., on how to regard and value nature. This article is a conceptual attempt to clarify and structure ethical interpretations based on an environmental ethics framework consisting of two branches: anthropocentrism and biocentrism. The aim is to provide an overview of SDG positions and locate them in the wider field of environmental ethics, addressing the human–nature relationship as a recurring topic in the SDGs. Section 1 of this article presents environmental ethics and briefly discusses anthropocentrism and biocentrism. Section 2 outlines ethical similarities of SD and the SDGs and locates representative SDG interpretations within the environmental ethics framework. Section 3 summarizes findings and suggests a possibility of integrating biocentrism and anthropocentrism with regard to the further interpretation and discussion of SDG ethics. Insights from this article will aid researchers in adopting a better overview on ethical positions in the SDG debate.
Chile sostiene una serie de Tratados de Libre Comercio, que abren excelentes oportunidades para exportar productos elaborados y no materias primas. Con ello, las Pymes del sector Diseño y las ...Industrias Creativas y Culturales, tienen la posibilidad de internacionalizar sus productos, permitiendo un mayor posicionamiento de productos con valor agregado. Estos productos requieren un packaging que cumpla con funciones esenciales y realce la imagen del país de origen. El cuidado del planeta crece, y la UE ha fijado reglamentaciones en materia de packaging. La inobservancia de la normativa internacional en el diseño de packaging eco-friendly puede obstaculizar la exportación, limitando la expansión internacional de los emprendimientos. El objetivo fue investigar cómo los packagings eco-friendly y el cumplimiento de los estándares ambientales internacionales pueden ser integrados en estrategias de diseño para mejorar la competitividad global. Como metodología se empleó un análisis exhaustivo de estándares, normativas y regulaciones ambientales, junto con una exploración de estrategias de diseño innovadoras, para el cumplimiento de protocolos, en el contexto de empaques eco-friendly. Los resultados evidencian la identificación de una sinergia entre la ética ambiental y la ambición comercial, creando un marco que guia la práctica hacia una competitividad global sostenible. Las conclusiones muestran la sostenibilidad emergiendo como fuente de innovación y ventaja competitiva y la integración de prácticas eco-friendly es una herramienta estratégica que puede impulsar la innovación y facilitar la operación en mercados globales. La investigación subraya la necesidad de un compromiso riguroso con la normativa y la innovación en el diseño de packaging.
