Human personality is based on five fundamental traits, and these traits appear to cluster in three different prototypes (i.e., resilient, undercontrolled, and overcontrolled prototypes). A growing ...body of research suggests that persons with these prototypes differ in mental health and well-being. We set out to identify if clusters differ in the use of imagination to cope with stress and uncertainty (i.e., Fantastic Reality Ability). For this study, we recruited 398 Israeli adults during the second COVID-19 lockdown, before the vaccine was available; participants were recruited and provided responses online including the FRAME (i.e., Fantastic Reality Ability Measurement). Cluster analyses indicate Israeli participants present with three distinct personality clusters or prototypes similar to research conducted in North America and Europe. Clusters significantly differ in FRA abilities (i.e., control, playfulness, coping, transcendence). That is, the resilient prototype reported higher control, playfulness and coping, and lower transcendence compared to the over- and undercontrolled. Future research should examine FRA in psychotherapy to further understand the clinical utility of this individual difference over time.
In this article we will deal with the main characteristics of the aesthetics of the fantastic. First, we will look back to the origins of this literary genre. Then, we will establish some differences ...between the Romantic fantastic, the Modern fantastic and the Post-modern fantastic. The fantastic is a rather complex vehicle of literary creation whose theoretical conceptualisation has been the object of critical debates. We will observe how the conceptual and communicative aims of the fantastic have evolved in order to get adapted to the readers’ inner thoughts about the mysterious reality of life as well as to social and epistemological changes.
Resumo O artigo busca analisar o início da carreira literária de Gastão Cruls e identificar, a partir das suas primeiras publicações, inclusive de seu primeiro romance, os conflitos de ordem ...profissional a interferir na sua produção literária. Em paralelo com tais inquietações e angústias, então responsáveis por certa cisão do autor entre a medicina e a literatura, também são considerados na análise o modo como a temática dos sertões articulou-se em contraposição à figuração de uma nova realidade urbana surgida no Brasil nos anos 1920. A convergência de tais fatores de ordem subjetiva e objetiva parecem ganhar na obra do autor uma resolução inicial pela via de uma literatura fantástica então emergente.
Abstract The aim of this article is to analyze the beginning of the literary career of Gastão Cruls and thus identify the themes and styles of his first short stories and novels, all closely linked to his personal drama about pursuing a medical career or dedicating himself to literature. This existential conflict was very important for the author to discover in fantastic literature a way to express not only his personal dramas, but also to analyze the Brazilian society of the 1920s from a new perspective, an urban society in its first steps.
Fantastic reality ability (FRA) is defined as the capacity to use imagination in response to stress or trauma. With the emergence of COVID-19 and associated social restrictions, there has been an ...uptick in imagination use as a coping strategy. This has allowed us to further validate the Fantastic Reality Ability Measurement (FRAME) Scale at this time of stress and uncertainty. Initial exploratory factor analyses (EFA) suggested that FRAME responses are measured by four first-order factors. Using confirmatory factor analyses (CFA), this study set out to confirm this finding and to ascertain if: First-order factors are correlated; or map onto a second or higher-order, fantastic reality ability latent construct. Also, FRAME responses are compared to established scales to demonstrate concurrent and discriminant validity. In accord with previous research and theory, CFA results indicate that each four factors (coping, control, transcendence, playfulness), contribute significantly to the measurement of a higher-order FRA latent construct (
= 437 Israeli adults). We also report robust correlations between FRAME and measures of resiliency and imagination abilities of complexity, directedness and frequency. Both adaptive and maladaptive applications of imagination use in relation to stress are discussed with focus on those who could foster resiliency. The FRAME enables one to briefly measure imagination use in response to stress and could serve as part of questionnaire batteries measuring individual differences and clinical research. Future research should assess the stability of this instrument across different populations over extended periods, specifically those at risk for trauma.

En diálogo con un corpus textual procedente de la literatura de género fantástico y/o insólito escrito por mujeres (Mariana Enríquez, Patricia Esteban Erlés, Cecilia Eudave, Angélica Gorodisher y ...Sofía Rhei), este artículo cartografía una crítica literaria corporal focalizada en cuatro tipos no excluyentes de interrelaciones entre texto y cuerpo: (1) el cuerpo representado en el texto; (2) el cuerpo que es materialmente el texto; (3) las nociones corporales que se encarnan en la escritura y los instrumentos de la crítica y (4) el cuerpo (siempre bajo tachadura o borradura) de quien hace la labor de leer-interpretar desde la teoría crítica un texto literario. Se trazan, de este modo, las líneas de aproximación de una crítica corporal en la encrucijada de los géneros textual y sexual que no se pretende definitiva sino sugerente y contagiosa.

In this paper, we apply the notion of n-fold filters to the EQ-algebras and introduce the concepts of n-fold pseudo implicative, n-fold implicative, n-fold obstinate, n-fold fantastic prefilters and ...filters on an EQ-algebra ε. Then we investigate some properties and relations among them. We prove that the quotient algebra ε/F modulo an 1-fold pseudo implicative filter of an EQ-algebra ε is a good EQ-algebra and the quotient algebra ε/F modulo an 1-fold fantastic filter of a good EQ-algebra ε is an lEQ-algebra.

From ancient times, the fantastic creatures had cast a deep fascination
on humankind. In this paper, we will analyse their influence on Baltasar Gracián,
who in his masterpiece, El Criticón, explores ...the mysterious essence of the fantastic
beings as a joint between two interpretations (scientific and religious) and two
ways of representation (literary and visual). In order to study the original contribution
that Baltasar Gracián offers in El Criticón, we will firstly go through a brief
context, which also includes reflections on the «construction» mechanisms of the
fantastic beings, to then proceed with several exemplary cases of the creatures that
populate his masterpiece
Desde antaño las criaturas fabulosas han despertado el interés del
ser humano. En este artículo se analiza su influencia en Baltasar Gracián, quien
en El Criticón (1651-1657) continúa explorando la misteriosa esencia del ser fantástico
como quicio entre dos interpretaciones (científica y religiosa) y dos formas
de representación (literaria y visual). Con objeto de estudiar la original aportación
que Baltasar Gracián nos ofrece en El Criticón se procederá a esbozar en un primer
lugar un breve contexto, que incluirá asimismo reflexiones sobre los mecanismos
de «construcción» de los seres fantásticos, para proceder seguidamente con varios
casos ejemplificativos de las criaturas que pueblan su obra maestra
