Como metodologia: gravamos às narrativas com um gravador de som, por conseguinte, fizemos a transcrição do essencial e por fim analisaram-se os registros. Como resultado constatamos que existem diferenças no universo da memória, a sua operacionalização é bastante complexa. As festas populares e tradicionais de Luanda carregam histórias que estão submersas e associadas ao vivido e podem ser acessadas através do registro e da tradição oral. The aim of this work is to look at how memory operates through the discourse of three speakers who use memory to report on issues of Luanda's popular and traditional festivals. In addition to the initial concern, our interest will also focus on the importance of recording the subjects' memories so that these records can be useful for the dissemination of Luandan culture and the possibility of being a bridge for future research on Luanda's popular and traditional festivals. As a methodology: we recorded the narratives with a sound recorder, therefore we transcribed the essential and finally analysed the records. As a result, we found that there are differences in the universe of memory, its operationalization is quite complex. Luanda's popular and traditional festivals carry stories that are submerged and associated with the lived and can be accessed through the record and oral tradition. El objetivo de este trabajo es examinar cómo opera la memoria a través del discurso de tres oradores que utilizan la memoria para informar sobre cuestiones de las fiestas populares y tradicionales de Luanda. Además de la preocupación inicial, nuestro interés también se centrará en la importancia de registrar las memorias de los sujetos para que estos registros puedan ser útiles para la difusión de la cultura luandesa y la posibilidad de ser un puente para futuras investigaciones sobre las fiestas populares y tradicionales de Luanda. Como metodología: grabamos las narraciones con una grabadora de sonido, por lo tanto transcribimos lo esencial y finalmente analizamos los registros. Como resultado, encontramos que hay diferencias en el universo de la memoria, su operacionalización es bastante compleja. In describing the parties observed, namely, 1) calendar parties, for example, Children’s Day, Christmas and New Year’s parties, and 2) rites of passage, for example, wedding and children’s birthdays; ...during fieldwork between the Calons (Gypsy people) in Mamanguape on the north coast of Paraíba, Brazil, during the years 2013 and 2014, we propose that the celebrations are privileged moments for the realization and updating of making Calon through dialogical opposition relations to the juron (non-gypsies). These are the parties that perform abundance and ostentation as practices and scarcity as a speech, especially in the presence of foreigners or others. In this sense, the party is considered a social producer, dialoguing with the literature that defends the “party as perspective”, I.e., not as a mirror, but as a creative function of reality (Perez 2012).
Alternative Forms of Performance in the History of School Theatre. Gymnastics Festivities in the 19th and 20th Centuries This paper focuses on the school gymnastics festivities in the 1910s. I have ...been trying to study the new opportunities created by these events, organized quite frequently, and to demonstrate the new performance techniques around the center of the school presentations: the movement of the body. I am going to analyze whether within the context of school theatre the gymnastics performances can be considered group productions and also whether the additional narrative and musical elements possess the elements necessary for modern social performances. The occasions on which the festivities were organized will be targeted as well, to show how important they might have been in the life of the town, in the cultural memory of the community. As long as the events were organized by an educational institute, the question arises about what the relation is between proper education and physical education performances. Further questions arose in connection with the cultural conventions of using the space, the scenario of the events and the symbols involved. The gymnastics festivities organized in the 1910s thoroughly determined the cultural life of both the educational institution involved and the city itself. After all, the techniques of body movement and the ritual elements show similarity with the dance performances of modern times.
The festive dimension is a complex component of social life that is still difficult to define. Marked by the ephemeral imprint and anchored in the sociocultural universe where it is realized, each ...festive event is a subject of study by its own. Taking in consideration these specificities, this article is based on two case studies carried out in Brazil during ethnographic surveys. The observation of certain aspects of a community party, on the one hand, and a festival, on the other hand, will allow to highlight attributes of these two formats and to qualify them on a conceptual level. The challenge of this shift in the analytical scale is to demonstrate the potential of this research field to understand some of the cogs in the contemporary world.
Eid al-Adha is one of the biggest religious celebrations in Indonesia. This study was conducted to determine the profile and activities of sacrificers (shohibul qurban) in selecting and procuring ...sacrificial animals for the Eid al-Adha celebration. This study was conducted by in-depth interviews with a total of 54 sacrificers in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, during the Eid al-Adha celebration in 2019. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis (number and percentage). This study indicated that most sacrificers were classified as productive age (45.35 years), high school graduates (46.30%), and self-employed workers (50.00%) with an income of IDR 3,357,896 per month. The sacrificial animals were cattle, sheep, and goats with an average body weight of 253.75 kg, 27.80 kg, and 32.80 kg, and the prices of IDR 20,939,962; IDR 2,906,250; and IDR 2,420,000, respectively. The sacrificial animals were mainly purchased from the livestock seller or intermediary seller (38.89%). There were livestock-price differences in the different marketplaces (44.44%) and between Eid al-Adha and the daily period (61.11%). This study concluded that the cattle preferred animal types for group sacrifices, and the sheep had preferred animal types for individual sacrifice. Cattle are usually sacrificed with a joint purchase between sacrificers. Each reason for selecting and procuring the sacrificial animal types was influenced by different motivations, such as financial, animal handling, and local wisdom factors.
