Zusammenfassung
Angesichts der Zunahme chronischer Erkrankungen erscheint es geboten, vermehrt auf Präventionsmaßnahmen zurückzugreifen, die den Einzelnen zu einer gesundheitsfördernden Lebensweise ...anhalten und exogene gesundheitsschädigende Einflüsse reduzieren. Dabei ergeben sich zwei ethische Problemkonstellationen: 1) Welche Einschränkungen der Entscheidungsautonomie des Einzelnen sind gerechtfertigt, um bestimmte Präventionsziele zu erreichen? 2) Welche Verantwortung kann und soll der Einzelne für seine Gesundheit tragen? Fünf ethische Anforderungen sind an jede Präventionsmaßnahme zu stellen: 1) nachgewiesene Wirksamkeit, 2) günstiges Kosten-Nutzen-Profil, 3) akzeptables Kosten-Nutzen-Verhältnis, 4) möglichst geringe Restriktivität und 5) faire Entscheidungsverfahren. Je nachdem, wie weit diese Anforderungen erfüllt sind, lässt sich eine unterschiedlich starke Beeinflussung der individuellen Entscheidungsautonomie rechtfertigen. Anstatt den Einzelnen für gesundheitsschädigendes Verhalten retrospektiv zu bestrafen, sollte er – im Sinne einer Stärkung der Gesundheitsmündigkeit – prospektiv in die Lage versetzt werden, Sorge für seine eigene Gesundheit zu tragen.

Ein niedriger sozialer Status (geringe Bildung, niedriges Einkommen etc.) ist oft mit erhöhter Morbidität und Mortalität verbunden. In dem Beitrag wird versucht, diese ...„gesundheitliche Ungleichheit“ aus sozial-epidemiologischer Sicht zu bewerten. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Frage nach der Verantwortung für die erhöhte gesundheitliche Gefährdung der unteren Statusgruppen. Nur ein kleiner Teil der gesundheitlichen Ungleichheit kann durch das Gesundheitsverhalten (Rauchen, mangelnde sportliche Betätigung etc.) erklärt werden. Umso wichtiger sind andere Ursachen. Dazu gehören die sozialen Unterschiede bei den Belastungen in der Wohnumgebung (z. B. Lärm), bei den Arbeitsbedingungen und auch beim Zugang zur gesundheitlichen Versorgung. Diese sozial-epidemiologischen Ergebnisse lassen sich gut in die gesundheitsethische Diskussion integrieren. Die Frage, wer für welchen Teil der gesundheitlichen Ungleichheit verantwortlich ist, löst oft heftige Kontroversen aus. Sie sind nur dann zu lösen, wenn die sozial-epidemiologische und die gesundheitsethische Diskussion besser miteinander vernetzt werden.
Teniendo en cuenta que la tasa de morbilidad y mortalidad por cáncer de próstata ha ido aumentando en Santiago de Cuba, los autores de este trabajo decidieron analizar lo relacionado con la ...responsabilidad individual para detectar precozmente esa afección; por tanto, para determinar los factores que incidían en la baja percepción del riesgo, en los primeros meses de 2011 se encuestó acerca de ello a 48 hombres mayores de 50 años, pertenecientes al área de salud del Policlínico Universitario "Frank País García" de Santiago de Cuba. Los resultados pusieron de manifiesto la imperiosa necesidad de realizar acciones de promoción sanitaria y prevención de enfermedades, con vistas a lograr que el individuo se sienta cada vez más responsable del cuidado de su propia salud, puesto que 85,4 % de los integrantes de la casuística admitieron no haberse sometido a exámenes para garantizar el diagnóstico temprano de ese tipo de tumor o descartar su presencia.Starting from the point that morbidity and mortality rate due to prostate gland cancer has increased in Santiago de Cuba, the authors of this work decided to analyze the relation to individual responsibility in order to early detect the aforementioned condition. Therefore, 48 men over 50 years old belonging to the health area of "Frank País García" University Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba were surveyed during the first months of the year 2011 to determine the factors that influenced on the low risk perception. Results showed the urgent need of carrying out actions of health promotion and disease prevention in order to achieve the individual feels more responsible of his health care. Of the case material, 85,4 % participants admitted they did not have the tests to guarantee the early diagnosis or detect this tumor.
To date, the privatization of the costs of social inequalities for women and children has been criticized predominantly from a policy perspective. This article seeks to make a stronger case against ...remedying social inequalities through private law obligations by addressing the theoretical difficulties with such privatization with a particular focus on familial obligations. I take my core examples from the current Canadian understanding of the spousal and child support obligations. My analysis proposes and proceeds on the basis of a new discourse for obligations traditionally grouped together as “Family Law” obligations: first, interpersonal obligations, which arise from and tie together two citizens through either a single interaction or through their relationship as a whole; second, social obligations, which are owed by the community as a whole to individual citizens. I argue that the persuasive force of the focus on an individual's responsibility for another's financial need has obscured the reality of the state's obligation, the broader social obligation, to respond to this need. I conclude with a discussion of the consequences of my analysis for the future of the spousal and child support obligations. If we deny an expanded role to these support obligations, can we do so in a way that avoids leaving the impoverished in an even more precarious position?

Data on women's financial situation and planning for retirement, and the possible reasons for their limited superannuation accumulations, are explored. The implications for social work of the requirement that women develop capacity for financial planning and management before, as well as in old age, when physical and cognitive capabilities may be compromised, are discussed.

Der Beitrag vergleicht die Diskussionen in beiden Bereichen und stellt abschließend ihren Zusammenhang dar.
Governance has become a topic of unprecedented emotional significance and fundamental importance in the boardrooms of companies, partly as a result of a confluence of early 21st century corporate ...scandals, stock market falls and public rage about senior executive remuneration. A simple adherence to formal systems of corporate governance, in terms of structures, rules, procedures and codes of practice, whilst a starting point, will not alone win back confidence in markets and corporations. Consideration needs to be given to how to release entrepreneurial self interest within a moral context. This focuses attention on the role of other major social institutions which may more naturally be able to nurture a moral framework as well as the role of individual citizens and the responsibility of all of us to enact a moral framework for business activities. There is no escape from individual moral responsibility, and our part in creating and sustaining social institutions beyond corporations.
The twentieth century began and ended with much of the nation's more affluent and better-educated citizens in a near-frenzied pursuit of better health through lifestyle modification, and with many of ...the nation's health policymakers and opinion shapers blaming individuals for their own ill health. Despite this common theme, assumptions about the character, causes and consequences of personal irresponsibility in health matters differed in important respects. In particular were differences in the degree to which Americans at the start and end of the last century were free to choose healthier lifestyles, in the role of science and medicine in debates promoting health, in the alleged negative externalities of personal irresponsibility, and in the moral authority on which these debates were based. This article examines attitudes towards students’ environmental engagement, by confronting the point of view of school teachers to that of students in four French secondary schools. Official programs ...defining environmental education are first considered, in order to analyze the ways in which student action is presented. Secondly, a synthesis is proposed of remarks made by students and teachers during qualitative interviews, concerning the value of environmental action. Teachers’ attitudes towards environmental «good practices» , while varied, show the influence of discourses which accentuate individual responsibility for environmental change. Students’ remarks underscore the importance of integrating socio-political and economic dimensions into environmental education, in order to help youngsters understand the significance of their actions.
Cet article étudie les attitudes envers l’engagement environnemental de l’élève, en confrontant les témoignages des enseignants à ceux des élèves dans quatre collèges français. Après avoir considéré la manière dont les textes officiels sur l’EDD présentent «l’agir» de l’élève, une synthèse des remarques des enseignants et des élèves sur la valeur des gestes pour l’environnement est proposée. Les entretiens permettent de mettre en avant les attitudes parfois divergentes des enseignants concernant l’intérêt des bonnes pratiques, et témoignent de la prégnance d’un discours de responsabilité individuelle. La parole des élèves fournit quelques pistes pour encourager les équipes à aborder les dimensions sociopolitique ou économique du développement durable afin de répondre aux questionnements des élèves sur la validité et la signification de leurs actes.
