Članak govori o crkvi Sv. Nikole u vali Dražanica ispred gradske luke u Zadru. O njoj svjedoči povijesni izvor iz 14. stoljeća i fotografija snimljena početkom 20. stoljeća. U arhivskome izvoru ...zapisanom 3. svibnja 1383. godine zabilježeno je da će majstor Marko pokojnoga Marka popraviti crkvu Sv. Nikole u Dražanici, ecclesiam s. Nicolai ad Drachssiniçam. Crkva je unekoliko starija, a nalazila se na ulazu u valu uza samo more. Snimljena je 1912. ili 1913. godine. Tada se još čuvala u prostoru, premda u ruševnome stanju. Odlike arhitekture upućuju na srednjovjekovno razdoblje. Ipak, nije poznato kada je izgrađena, kao ni kada je posve razorena.

Selen je važan mikroelement u prehrani ljudi i hranidbi životinja. Cilj ovoga rada je prikazati metode/postupke koji se poduzimaju u procesu obogaćivanja janjećeg mesa selenom. Različitim hranidbenim ...modifikacijama moguće je značajno promijeniti (prije svega poboljšati) sadržaj minerala u janjećem mesu pa tako i selena. Unos selena u janjadi varira zbog promjene elementarnog sastava biljnih vrsta tijekom sezone, te koncentracije u krmnoj smjesi. Hranidbeni čimbenici imaju značajan utjecaj na sadržaj selena u janjećem mesu. Selen organskog podrijetla, osobito podrijetlom od biofortificiranih krmiva pokazuje bolju dostupnost u odnosu na anorganski izvor a korišteni su za poboljšanje zdravlja i proizvodnosti te mogu biti put u procesu obogaćivanja janjećeg mesa selenom prirodnim putem. Analizom dosadašnjih dostupnih istraživanja vidljiv je značajan utjecaj dodatka selena (organski oblici) ili korištenih biofortificiranih krmiva selenom u hrani janjadi na njegov sadržaj u janjećem mesu te je to put koji treba koristiti u procesu obogaćivanja janjećeg mesa selenom
Selenium is an important trace element in human and animal nutrition. The aim of this research is to present the methods/procedures that are undertaken in the process of enrichment of lamb meat with selenium. Various nutritional modifications can significantly change (primarily improve) the mineral content in lamb meat and thus selenium. Selenium intake in lambs varies due to changes in the elemental composition of plant species during the season, and the concentration in the feed mixture. Nutritional factors have a significant impact on the selenium content in lamb meat. Selenium of organic origin, especially originating
from biofortified feeds, shows better availability compared to the inorganic source and it has been used to improve health and productivity
as well as be a way in the process of enriching lamb meat with selenium
naturally. The analysis of previous research shows a significant impact
of selenium supplementation (organic forms) or used biofortified feeds with selenium in lamb feed on its content in lamb meat and this is the way to be used in the process of enriching lamb meat with selenium.
Pozadina istraživanja. U posljednje se vrijeme istražuju novi izvori dokosaheksaenoične kiseline koji se mogu upotrijebiti za obogaćivanje hrane za dojenčad i dodatke prehrani, među ostalim i ...mikrobni lipidi što sadržavaju 40-50 % te kiseline. Eksperimentalni pristup. U tu su svrhu mikrobni lipidi pomiješani s kaprilnom kiselinom u molarnom omjeru od 1:1 do 5:1, a zatim su smjese interesterificirane pomoću katalizatora, lipaze Novozym 435 ili Lipozyme TL IM. Ispitan je utjecaj suviška slobodne kaprilne kiseline u supstratu i vrste enzima na promjenu strukture triglicerida tijekom sinteze strukturiranih lipida. Rezultati i zaključci. Regiospecifična lipaza Lipozyme TL IM izgleda potiče transesterifikaciju triglicerida u mikrobnim lipidima kaprilnom kiselinom, proporcionalno udjelu te kiseline u supstratu. U reakcijama kataliziranim nespecifičnom lipazom Novozym 435 u trigliceride mikrobnih lipida ugrađeno je više kaprilne kiseline nego pri uporabi lipaze Lipozyme TL IM, neovisno o molarnom omjeru lipida i kaprilne kiseline. Novina i znanstveni doprinos. Dobiveni rezultati pokazuju da je za proizvodnju strukturiranih lipida kao izvora dokosaheksanoične kiseline bitno odabrati pravu kombinaciju regiospecifične ili nespecifične lipaze i udjela slobodnih masnih kiselina u podlozi za kiselinsku hidrolizu.
The application of probability and statistics to an ever-widening number of life-decisions serves to reproduce, reinforce, and widen disparities in the quality of life that different groups of people ...can enjoy. As a critical technology assessment, the ways in which bad luck early in life increase the probability that hardship and loss will accumulate across the life course are illustrated. Analysis shows the ways in which individual decisions, informed by statistical models, shape the opportunities people face in both market and non-market environments. Ultimately, this book challenges the actuarial logic and instrumental rationalism that drives public policy and emphasizes the role that the mass media play in justifying its expanded use. Although its arguments and examples take as their primary emphasis the ways in which these decision systems affect the life chances of African-Americans, the findings are also applicable to a broad range of groups burdened by discrimination.
This study of the upper Maastrichtian to Danian sedimentary succession from the northern part of the Romanian Eastern Carpathians (Varniţa section) aims to establish an integrated biostratigraphy ...based on calcareous nannofossils, organic-walled dinoflagellate cysts (dinocysts) and foraminiferal assemblages, and to reconstruct the depositional environments of the interval. The stratigraphic record across the studied section is incomplete, considering that an approximately 16 m thick strata interval from the top of the Maastrichtian to lowermost Danian cannot be analyzed due to a landslide covering the outcrop. The upper Maastrichtian is marked by a succession of biostratigraphic events, such as the First Appearance Datum (FAD) of the nannoplankton taxon Nephrolithus frequens and FAD of the dinocyst species Deflandrea galeata and Disphaerogena carposphaeropsis, and the Last Appearance Datum (LAD) of Isabelidinium cooksoniae in the lower part of the section. These bioevents are followed by the LAD of the Dinogymnium spp. and Palynodinium grallator dinocyst markers in the top of the Maastrichtian deposits analyzed. In terms of foraminiferal biostratigraphy, the upper Maastrichtian Abathomphalus mayaroensis Zone is documented in the lower part of the studied section. Some bioevents, such as the bloom of the calcareous dinoflagellate genus Thoracosphaera and the FAD of the organic-walled dinocysts Damassadinium californicum, Senoniasphaera inornata, Xenicodinium lubricum and X. reticulatum suggest an early Danian age for the middle part of the section. From the Danian deposits in the Varniţa section, we describe a new organic-walled dinocyst species, Pentadinium darmirae sp. nov., which is until now the only species of the Pentadinium genus discovered in the Paleocene. The occurrence of the global Danian dinocyst marker Senoniasphaera inornata in the top of the section, suggests an age not younger than middle Danian (62.6 Ma) for the analyzed deposits.
The palynofacies constituents, as well as the agglutinated foraminiferal morphogroups, used to reconstruct the depositional environments, show that the late Maastrichtian sediments were deposited in an outer shelf to distal (bathyal) environment, followed by a marine transgression during the Danian.

U radu se analizira stanje i kvaliteta okoliša kojeg ugrožavaju postojeći tipični zagađivači urbanih predjela. Glavni izvori zagađenja zraka su sektor energije (uglavnom energane), transporta ...(motorna vozila) i industrijski pogoni. Među najčešćim i najškodljivijim za ljudsko zdravlje i biološke sustave je sumporni dioksid. Djelovanje sumpornog dioksida osjeća se vrlo lako i većina ljudi osjeća simptome već nakon 10÷15 minuta. Stoga se koncentracija ugljičnog dioksida u zraku uzima kao referentni parameter u procjeni kvalitete zraka i njegovog zagađenja. U radu se kao ilustrativni primjer analizira metalurški pogon koji dnevno prerađuje 1000 tona rude bakra-halkopirita. Primjenom Gausova matematičkog modela analizira se raspodjela koncentracije sumpornog dioksida na zemlji kod dimnjaka raznih visina i različitih količina ispuštanja u stabilnim i nestabilnim vremenskim uvjetima. Distribucija i širenje sumpornog dioksida izračunati su za razdoblje od 24 sata nakon ispuštanja u atmosferu. Rezultati su uspoređeni s legalno dopuštenim koncentracijama graničnih vrijednosti.

Izvor – špilja Ričina nalazi se na širem području zaseoka Vrilo u blizini Tomislavgrada. Dio je većega kompleksa, točnije riječ je o tri špiljska ulaza međusobno povezana špiljskim kanalima koji su ...nastali korozivnim djelovanjem snažnoga podzemnog toka. Za vrijeme viših vodostaja akumulacijskoga jezera kompleks, ali i područje uokolo je potopljeno. Špiljski kompleks je već prije speleološki dokumentiran, a prilikom jednoga posjeta speleolozi su ispred špilje uočili ostatke kremenoga oruđa. Pronalazak je potaknuo arheološka istraživanja prilikom kojih je, ispred ulaza u pećinu, pronađeno mjesto izrade litičkih predmeta. Tanki kulturni sloj i prostorna dispozicija nalaza asocira na sekundarni položaj nalaza, ali geomorfološke karakteristike terena pokazuju da je, ipak, riječ o izvornoj zoni litičke obrade. Postojanje gotovo svih faza lanca operacija (nedostaje jedino faza prikupljanja sirovine) ukazuje kako se cjelokupni proces obrade odvijao na ovome mjestu. Iako kronološke analize za sada nisu moguće, tipološke i tehnološke karakteristike, uz pojavu obrađenih sječiva, grebala i pločica s hrptom, sasvim jasno ukazuju na epigravetijensku kulturu. Time nalazište na izvoru Ričine postaje prvo paleolitičko nalazište na prostoru zapadne Hercegovine
The Ričina spring cave is located in the wider region of the Vrilo hamlet in the vicinity of Tomislavgrad. It is a part of a larger complex, more precisely there are three cave entrances mutually connected with cave channels, created as a consequence of the corrosive activity of a strong underground stream. The complex and the surrounding region are flooded when there is a high water level in the reservoir. The cave complex
has already been documented speleologically, and remains of stone tools were noticed by speleologists in one of their visits to the cave. This discovery incited archaeological research that resulted in the identification of a place in front of the cave where lithic objects were made. The thin cultural layer and spatial disposition of the finds imply their secondary position, but the geomorphological characteristics of the terrain indicate that it was the original zone of lithic production. The presence of almost all the phases of the operational sequence (only the collection of raw material is missing) indicates that the entire process of production happened at this spot. Though chronological analyses are unavailable for the time being, typological and technological characteristics, along with the presence of retouched blades, end scrapers and backed bladelets, clearly indicate the Epigravettian culture. It means that the site at the source of Ričina is the first Palaeolithic site in the western Herzegovina region
