In this historical perspective, we focus on selected discoveries that Albert Frenkel (1919-2015) made all by himself - single-handedly - which is the discovery of photophosphorylation and NAD ...reduction in anoxygenic photosynthetic bacteria. Then, we present various aspects of his research life through his unpublished letters with some key scientists in his research field. To give a glimpse of his personal life, we have also provided some photographs.
Igor Zidić, u nakani da kritički replicira institucionaliziranoj konzervativnosti hrvatskih ranih šezdesetih, u sarajevskom Izrazu publicirao je dva osvrta: o američkom akcijskom slikarstvu (ožujak ...1962.), te o aktualnom djelu Frana Šimunovića (listopad 1962.). Bazirani na ideji zaborava, inzistirali su na drukčijim umjetničkim i socijalnim posljedicama. Zidić je slijedio tragove Harolda Rosenberga i njegovo razumijevanje modernističke geneze i pratećih konzekvencija. Tragajući za točkom oslonca koja bi u sebi objedinila modernistički ekskluzivitet i lokalno producirane okolnosti, zaustavio se pred aktualnim Šimunovićevim djelom. Pred izdvojenim kamenom kao dokazom do koje je razine apstrahiranje na hrvatskoj likovnoj sceni moglo dohvatiti. Ipak, u Zidićevu slučaju sve analogije i svako pozivanje na okolnosti šire postavljene modernosti nisu pomogle u impliciranoj nakani da u bosanskohercegovačkom ambijentu nađe odgovarajućeg sugovornika. Konzervativne inhibicije bile su izraženije, te je, osim svjedočanstva o kratkotrajnom sukobu s Babićevim tezama, nastup Igora Zidića ostao sakriven na margini općeg povijesnog interesa.
New carbon and oxygen isotope records and discussion of the main variations in seawater temperature through the Sinemurian–Aalenian of the Pieniny Klippen Basin (northern Tethys Ocean) are presented ...herein. Comparison of the recorded changes in stable-isotope compositions of bulk carbonate and belemnite rostra from an open-marine environment with previously documented, predominantly restricted epicontinental data enables determination of major climatic events that were most likely of worldwide extent. A slight positive δ13C shift is recorded in the lowermost Upper Pliensbachian. A significant positive excursion in carbonate carbon isotope values is documented in the Lower Toarcian Serpentinum Zone. Furthermore, the δ13C values display a falling trend in the Lower–Upper Toarcian and relatively constant values in the Aalenian. Temperatures inferred from the δ18O values of well-preserved belemnite rostra suggest rather cool seawater conditions (10–13 °C) in the Pieniny Klippen Basin during the Late Sinemurian, warming by 4 °C in the Early Pliensbachian and then cooling by 8 °C in the Late Pliensbachian. The seawater temperature rose once more in the Early Toarcian and began to fall again during the Middle Toarcian. In the Middle–?Late Aalenian, seawater temperatures oscillated between 10 and 13 °C.

Data on the geology, petrography, mineralogy, and geochemistry of rocks from Kamen Volcano (Central Kamchatka Depression) are presented and compared with rocks from the neighbouring active volcanoes. ...The rocks from Kamen and Ploskie Sopky volcanoes differ systematically in major elemental and mineral compositions and could not have been produced from the same primary melts. The compositional trends of Kamen stratovolcano lavas and dikes are clearly distinct from those of Klyuchevskoy lavas in all major and trace element diagrams as well as in mineral composition. However, lavas of the monogenetic cones on the southwestern slope of Kamen Volcano are similar to the moderately high-Mg basalts from Klyuchevskoy and may have been derived from the same primary melts. This means that the monogenetic cones of Kamen Volcano represent the feeding magma for Klyuchevskoy Volcano. Rocks from Kamen stratovolcano and Bezymianny form a common trend on all major element diagrams, indicating their genetic proximity. This suggests that Bezymianny Volcano inherited the feeding magma system of extinct Kamen Volcano. The observed geochemical diversity of rocks from the Klyuchevskaya group of volcanoes can be explained as the result of both gradual depletion over time of the mantle N-MORB-type source due to the intense previous magmatic events in this area, and the addition of distinct fluids to this mantle source.

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Möglichkeiten und Applikation der emischen und etischen Perspektive im Rahmen der Landschaftsarchäologie zu präsentieren. Als Beispiel wurde die Umgebung der Burg ...Červený Kameň (Südwest-Slowakei) gewählt. Der konkrete Einsatz dieser Perspektiven wird an der Standortwahl des heutigen Kalvarienberges gezeigt. Dabei werden die emische und etische Perspektive miteinander konfrontiert. Im Falle der etischen Perspektive soll versucht werden, die Motive des Bauherrn, d. h. die konkreten Impulse und Einflüsse, die zur Errichtung der Kreuzigung Christi auf dem heutigen Kalvarienberg geführt haben, zu identifizieren. Hierfür wird das soziologische Makro-Mikro-Makro-Modell herangezogen. Aufgrund der schriftlichen und kartografischen Quellen kann der konkrete gesellschaftliche Kontext belegt werden, der den Bauherrn beeinflusst hat. Die gesellschaftlich bedingten Aktivitäten des Bauherrn fanden ihren Ausdruck auch in der umliegenden Landschaft vor der Burg. Diese Landschaft spiegelt bis heute, vor allem bei vergleichender Betrachtung der historischen Karten, den geschichtlichen Wandel der menschlichen Mentalität wider.
The main purpose of this article is to present the possibilities and application of emic and etic perspectives within the framework of landscape archaeology. To demonstrate this, the surroundings of Červený Kameň Castle (SW Slovakia) were chosen as an example. The actual application of the above-mentioned perspectives will be demonstrated using the chosen site of today’s calvary hill. Using this example, the emic and etic perspectives will be mutually juxtaposed. In the case of the etic perspective, an attempt will be made to identify specific impulses and influences that led to the erection of the Crucifixion on the calvary hill. During this phase, a macro-micro-macro model will be applied. An attempt will be made to understand the past social context which influenced the builder of calvary by means of written and cartographic sources. The socially determined activities of the builder are manifested in the surrounding landscape in front of the castle. This landscape reflects, when compared with old maps, the historical change in human thinking to date.
Autor obrađuje nalaz prapovijesne kamene sjekire-čekića na srednjovjekovnom naseobinskom lokalitetu Baba lokva u Kaštelima
(14. – 17. st.) s aspekta mitološkog poimanja takvih nalaza kao ...apotropejskih predmeta (amuleti, talismani). Pomoću brojnih etnoloških paralela u Hrvatskoj i Bosni, kao i u široj srednjoeuropskoj regiji, te arheoloških paralela u sjevernoj Hrvatskoj (Ludbreg – Iovia, utvrda Paka) i u Dalmaciji (Begovača – Biljane Donje) dokazuje da je sjekira s Baba lokve bila u funkciji zaštite nastambi od groma ili možda osobne zaštite vlasnika koji ju je nosio. Radi se o običaju koji je preživio kao sirvival iz poganskih prapovijesnih vremena (praslavenskih i praindoeuropskih) i zadržao se do naših dana kao dio
tradicijske kulture.
Our study considers the structure and tectonics of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, located in the west Russian Arctic and part of the Eurasian Arctic: (i) the age of the Pre-Paleozoic basement of the ...North block of the archipelago and the geodynamic sedimentation conditions in its northern end, where many kilometers of turbidite sedimentary strata accumulated in the paleobasin during the Late Vendian-Silurian; (ii) the significance of Caledonian tectogenesis in the geological history of the archipelago; (iii) the age and causes of the Late Hercynian (?)-Early Cimmerian orogeny in the Novaya Zemlya archipelago and the relationship of the archipelago structures with the structures of the Urals; (iv) the age and causes for the formation of the modern relief of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago; (v) evidence of active movements of the shelves of the Barents and Kara Seas surrounding Novaya Zemlya. The age of the most ancient rock dating in the area of the Main Novaya Zemlya Fault corresponds to the Vendian (598 ± 26; 609 ± 4 Ma), and the model age of the protolith is estimated at 1 Ga. Two blocks have been established for the Precambrian (North and South) and three, for Middle-Late Paleozoic (North, Central and South). The Middle-Late Paleozoic stage is considered as a reflection of the tectonic-magmatic activation manifested in the Caledonides of Greenland and Scandinavia. The episodes of basic and granitoid magmatism in the intervals of 730–690 and 610–590 Ma indicate the presence of blocks of the former Arctida (?) in the west (Novaya Zemlya), in the central part (Severnaya Zemlya), and in the east (New Siberian Islands and Wrangel Island) of the modern Arctic. Basic areal (plume) magmatism occurred in the Late Devonian, in the Late Permian-Early Triassic and Late Mesozoic. The features of the geological structure of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago strictly correspond to the three orographic areas (tectonic blocks) of the archipelago. The Western and Eastern Novaya Zemlya troughs are the tectonic pairs with the Novaya Zemlya orogen. The heights of the dated sea terraces indicate significant rates of neotectonic uplift of the archipelago.
Pada permainan Game Kamen Rider Decade ini sangat membutuhkan strategi yang tepat jika ingin memenangkan dengan mudah permainan ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan metode Dept ...First Search (DFS) dan Breadth First Search (BFS) pada Game Kamen Rider Decade, yang merupakan permainan dengan strategi penyelesaiannya menggunakan metode pencarian buta (blind search). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif, dimana pengujian dilakukan dengan memainkan 3 kali masing-masing dengan metode selalu BFS dan selalu DFS. Hasil menunjukan peluang lebih besar memenangkan permainan ini adalah dengan strategi selalu BFS. Dimana kemampuan BFS pada permainan ini dapat berguna untuk pertahanan terhadap musuh.
In 2020–2021 the palaeopascichnid fossils were found in the Krasnaya Gorka Site (Shirokovsky Reservoir, Kosva River area, Perm Region), a type Vendian fossil locality (problematic discoidal casts and ...arumberiamorph structures) for the Central Urals discovered by Yu.R. Bekker in 1972. In the stratigraphical context, the fossil locality is associated with Chernyi Kamen Formation of the Upper Vendian Sylvitsa Group. The results of morphometric analysis of palaeopascichnid fossils made possible to distinguish three morphological types:
Palaeopascichnus delicatus
,
Yelovichnus gracilis,
and
Palaeopascichnus linearis
. Finding of a large number of palaeopascichnid fossils both develops the understanding of their palaeobiology and taphonomy, and also demonstrates that palaeontological potential of the type fossil locality and one of the most representative section of the Chernyi Kamen Formation has not entirely been realized.
