Objective. The purpose of this study is to highlight some of the methods for the correct development of body mobility for karate training in order to achieve sports performance. Methods. Since the ...concept of mobility is not applied methodically in karate, and the stretching principles are practically unknown, I have presented in this paper a compendium of exercises that contribute to the development of mobility and a karate- shotokan application program, starting from methodical and anatomical principles on the basis of basic training in athletics and gymnastics. The research was carried out in two stages: the first stage was to determine the individual level of body mobility of the subjects and the second stage to be carried out for eight months and to evaluate the final progress achieved after observing the training method I proposed to develop the mobility of karate- shotokan practitioners. Results. In order to ascertain whether the progress made by the experimental group is significant, trustworthy and that they are not due to chance, but to our intended action, we calculated the statistical index "t" (STUDENT test). The differences in the value of the results obtained between the averages of the two tests Ti (initial test) and Tf (final test) are significant, certainly 95%. Cowclusiows. Considering the fact that after the final testing a good homogeneity of the team can be ascertained as well as an important increase of the statistical indices, we can conclude that the actuation systems applied in the experiment were well selected. It is very important to ensure through a logical and well-thought-out training the development of all the elements that contribute to the sporting form of a karate- ka including mobility. Keywords: development; mobility; karate; training.

The increasing interest in karate has also attracted the attention of researchers, especially in combining the equipment used by practitioners with technology to prevent injuries, improve technical ...skills and provide appropriate scoring. Contrary to the sport of taekwondo, the development of a smart body protector in the sport of karate is still a niche field to be researched. This study focused on developing piezoresistive, textile-based pressure sensors using piezoresistive film, conductive fabric as well as different bonding materials and methods. Primarily, small-scale sensors were produced using ultrasonic welding, hot press welding and oven curing. These were characterized using a universal testing machine and specific conditioning and data-acquisition hardware combined with custom processing software. Large-scale sensors were then manufactured to be placed inside the karate body protector and characterized using cyclic testing. The conditioning circuit allows flexible gain adjustment, and it was possible to obtain a stable signal with an output of up to 0.03 V/N, an adequate signal for the tested force range. The transfer function shows some drift over the cycles, in addition to the expected hysteresis and slight nonlinearity, which can be compensated for. Finally, the configuration with the best results was tested in real practice tests; during these tests the body protector was placed on a dummy as well as on a person. The results showed that the piezoresistive textile-based pressure sensor produced is able to detect and quantify the impact of even light punches, providing an unobtrusive means for performance monitoring and score calculation for competitive practice of this sport.
Background: Dynamic balance is a crucial variable in lower limb maneuvering in different age groups and different sports, and is a framework for other movements in adulthood. Therefore, the present ...study was conducted to determine the effect of basic karate exercises on children's dynamic balance. Methods: The sample size consisted of 30 boys aged 6 to 12 years (8.7 ± 1.47) without any experience in karate practice, which was purposefully selected from the students in the city of Sedeh, that they were matched into two experimental (n=15) and control (n=15) groups after taking the balance pre-test (5-line star test). The experimental group performed basic karate exercises at the level of the yellow belt for four weeks (3 sessions of 90 minutes), and the control group performed, physical training exercises and school games. The post-test was taken at the end of the training session. Results: Mixed analysis of variance showed that the main effect of time (p=0.001) and group (p= 0.048) was significant. The results of paired t-test showed there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental group (P= 0.001). Also, the independent t-test showed experimental group compared to the control was a higher score in the post-test (p=0.01). Conclusions: Based on the research findings, it can be suggested that physical education instructors and teachers can use it to improve the dynamic balance in their students due to the ease of performing karate exercises and no need for special facilities.
Objectives. This study aimed to experimentally identify and evaluate the effectiveness of using intensive interval programs to develop endurance in the educational process of 10-year-old boys. ...Materials and methods. The research involved twenty 10-year-old boys. Control (n = 10) and experimental (n = 10) groups were created. Children and their parents were informed of the features of the study and agreed to participate in the experiment. The study protocol was approved by the ethics committee of H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University (Kharkiv, Ukraine). This study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki – Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects (World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki, 2013). The following research methods were used: scientific and methodological literature analysis, pedagogical testing, and mathematical statistics to process research results. Results. According to the results of the complex control of boys’ endurance abilities, statistically significant changes in all indicators in both experimental (p < 0.001) and control groups (p < 0.05) were established. The positive dynamics of the results favoured the experimental group. The most statistically significant changes took place in the experimental group on indicators of tests “Push-ups in a lying position” by 35.2% (p < 0.001), “Jumping with a rope for 1 min” (20.8%; p < 0.001), “Squatting on two legs for 1 min” (18.8%; p < 0.001), “From a lying position rising in a saddle for 1 min” (17.4%; p < 0.01). The obtained results of the final testing in tests “Hanging on bent arms’ ”, “Burpee test in 1 min” and “300 m run” were somewhat lower and still demonstrated statistically significant changes (13.0%, 11.4%, 6.5%, respectively, at the level of significance p < 0.001). General endurance developed more slowly than other types of endurance. In “Hanging on bent arms’ ” the change in data after the experiment in the control group was statistically insignificant (p = 0.05). Conclusions. The intensive interval training method, which used specially selected exercises according to the “Tabata Protocol,” promoted endurance development in 10-year-old boys.
•Kata training affects elementary students’ overall performance.•Kata program is proposed for reducing aggression, maladaptation, and defiance.•The significant improvements in attention and ...concentration observed in this study.
Behavioral issues frequently arise in primary school children, affecting their academic performance, social interactions, and general welfare. These concerns encompass challenges related to attention, concentration, aggression, oppositional behavior, and social maladaptation. The purpose of the current study was to examine the impacts of karate Kata training on extrinsic behavioral problems of elementary school students. The Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) questionnaire was given to all fourth- to sixth-grade students from a male elementary school, totaling 241 students, in Mashhad, Iran. A total of 76 eligible school-aged children with a total score of 65 and above in attention, aggression, oppositional defiance, and social maladaptation issues were selected and randomly assigned to an exercise group (n = 38) or a no-exercise control group (n = 38). Participants in the exercise group were instructed to engage in Kata training, which consists of a series of choreographed movements designed to enhance physical and mental discipline, for a duration of 12 60-min sessions, whereas the participants in the control group followed their daily activities. The CBCL from the Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment was used to assess dependent variables such as attention and concentration, aggression, oppositional defiance, and social maladaptation at baseline and post-intervention. The repeated-measures analysis of variance indicated that Kata training results in significant improvements in attention and concentration and significant reductions in aggression, oppositional defiance, and social maladaptation among elementary school students (all ps < .001). These results highlight the potential benefits of incorporating Kata training into interventions aimed at improving the behavioral outcomes of children.
The interdisciplinary research area Cognitive Interaction Technology (CIT) aims to understand and support interactions between human users and other elements of socio-technical systems. Important ...reasons for the new interest in understanding CIT in sport psychology are the impressive development of cognitive robotics and advanced technologies such as virtual or augmented reality systems, cognitive glasses or neurotechnology settings. The present article outlines this area of research, addresses ethical issues, and presents an empirical study in the context of a new measurement and assessment system for training in karate. Recent advances in the field of cognitive assistance systems enabled largely automatized assessments of individual mental representation structures for action sequences, such as choreographed movement patterns in dance or martial arts. Empirical investigations with karate practitioners of different skill levels demonstrate that advanced software-based survey and algorithmic analysis procedures based on cognitive models generate individualized performance predictions for a movement sequence from the
(a pre-defined karate movement sequence), which correlated significantly not only with formal expertise (
rank) but also with the actual likelihood of mistakes in action execution. This information could prospectively be used to define individual training goals for deliberate practice and incorporated into cognitive interaction technology to provide appropriate feedback. We argue that the development of cognitive interaction systems for sport should explicitly take ethical issues into consideration and present a particular developed engineering approach. The potential benefits of such an assistance system for intermediate and advanced practitioners include more effective and flexible practice, as well as supportive effects, and more flexible training schedules. Furthermore, we argue that researchers from the field of sport psychology can benefit from advances in technological systems that enhance the understanding of mental and motor control in skilled voluntary action.
