The aim of the study is to estimate the effectiveness of kinesiotherapy based on deep core stability muscles training in the program of rehabilitation in patients with osteoporotic vertebral ...fractures (VF).
Sixty patients (M-12, F-48) aged 43-81 years (average age 62.75±12.5) with primary osteoporosis and at least one non-traumatic VF were included in the study. The rehabilitation program focused on training of deep core stability back muscles and consisted of 4 kinesiotherapy methods (Dr. Wolff and CBS simulators, kinesiohydrotherapy in the pool and complex physical exercises by Gorinevskaya-Dreving) was prescribed for 21 days to all patients. Isometric core strength test (Back-Check) was performed at baseline, at the end of the rehabilitation treatment and at 21 days follow-up visit.
At baseline relative flexion strength (REL FS), relative extension strength (REL ES), left lateral flexion strength (LLAT FS), right lateral flexion strength (RLAT FS) were lower than recommended indexes: 113.01±34.03% of 150% (P=0.001), 75±12.78% of 100% (P=0.006), 85±12.78% (P=0.04) and 79.73±9.2% of 100% (P=0.003) accordingly. Ratio relative flexion/extension strength (FLE:EXT S) also was in imbalance in 38 of 45 patients. Lateral flexion ratio (LLAT:RLAT FS) showed imbalance only in 6 patients. The all isometric core strength test indexes improved significantly: REL FS up to 132.57±47.08% (P=0.0001), REL ES up to 86.45±9.4% (P=0.03), LLAT FS up to 90.7±9.55% (p=0.07), RLAT FS up to 89.4±2.5% (P=0.03) after the rehabilitation course. The muscle strengths stay better than the baseline indexes at the follow-up measurement: REL FS=121.5±39.9% (P=0.002), REL ES=79.78±10.5% (P=0.02), LLAT FS=87.1±11.07% (P=0.06), RLAT FS=80.14±8.62% (P=0.09).
The basic dysfunction of deep core muscles and imbalance flexion/extension strength in osteoporotic patients with VF were estimated. Complex rehabilitation with kinesiotherapy showed the high prolong effect on improving back muscle strength in patients with VF.

The aim of the study was to determine whether the use of combination therapy consisting of manual therapy and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) is more effective than the use of the ...techniques of manual therapy, PNF method or traditional physiotherapy as single methods in the treatment of symptomatic non-specific low back pain.
The study was designed as single-blinded RCT and conducted on a group of 200 patients of the Rehabilitation Ward of Hospital in Parczew. The patients were randomly divided into four 50–person groups: group A used manual therapy, B–PNF, C–manual therapy and PNF, and D–traditional kinesiotherapy. Pain intensity was measured using visual analogue pain scale (VAS) and modified Laitinen's pain questionnaire. The evaluation was carried out four times: before, in the middle of, immediately after and two weeks after completion of therapy. Functional disability was assessed using Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and Back Pain Functional Scale (BPFS). Assessments were done twice–before and after the treatment.
Reduction of pain intensity was statistically significant (P<0.05) in all groups at each stage of the study. However, the differences among the groups were not statistically significant (P>0.05). In all groups the change in the degree of disability measured by the ODI was statistically significant (P<0.05). The improvement in functional ability in patients as measured on the BPFS was statistically significant in all groups (P<0.05). Statistically significant differences were noticed between group C and group D (P<0.05).
1. All the methods used caused reduction in pain, which lasted for at least 4 weeks. 2. The best improvement in the functional capability of patients was caused by the combined therapy consisted of manual therapy and PNF. 3. The degree of disability as measured in Oswestry Disability Index lowered evenly in all groups.
INTRODUCTION. The global spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 determines the relevance of studying the clinical features and long-term consequences of the disease in children. Respiratory ...tract lesions in COVID-19 are the most common symptoms in the pediatric population. At the same time, the possibility of the development of gastrointestinal, neurological and psychological disorders has now been established, which is important to consider when designing medical rehabilitation programs for such patients.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The article describes modern approaches to the organization of 3-stage medical rehabilitation of patients who have undergone a new coronavirus infection COVID-19. Medical rehabilitation of such patients is aimed at restoring the ventilation function of the lungs, improving bronchial patency and drainage function of the respiratory tract, normalizing the functional state of the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, muscle tone, increasing exercise tolerance and the defenses of the child’s body. The most important component of rehabilitation measures, in addition to drug therapy and physiotherapy methods carried out for such patients, is physical rehabilitation, that is, the use of physical exercises for therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative purposes. The authors describe the main tasks, means and forms of physical therapy, motor modes and intensity of load for each stage of medical rehabilitation, the principles of a differentiated approach to the selection of basic physical rehabilitation measures taking into account the target organ, the stage of medical rehabilitation are presented.
CONCLUSION. Physical rehabilitation is a mandatory component of the individual medical rehabilitation program for children who have suffered COVID-19. The differentiated application of physical rehabilitation, taking into account the target organ, the severity of the disease, the stage of medical rehabilitation, makes it possible to achieve an earlier and complete restoration of the impaired functions of various organs and systems.
INTRODUCTION. To date, one of the important tasks of Russian healthcare is the development and improvement of sanatorium treatment. The article highlights topical issues of development and ...improvement of sanatorium treatment of children in institutions subordinate to the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation. It presents the data on the peculiarities of the functioning of the II and III stages of medical rehabilitation in the conditions of health resort institutions on the basis of the rehabilitation department of the children’s sanatorium “Polyany”, where a wide range of innovative technologies of physiotherapy and kinesiotherapy are successfully applied. The high availability of sanatorium-resort treatment for children registered at a dispensary in a Children’s medical center is shown. Data are published on the effective use of the bed capacity of health resort institutions subordinate to the Administrative Department of the Russian Federation, primarily for the treatment and medical rehabilitation of children with chronic diseases. The article describes the organization and modern technologies of medical rehabilitation of children
with diseases of musculoskeletal system, respiratory organs, digestion, genitourinary system, in institutions subordinated to the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation. There are data on the organization of medical rehabilitation
of children who have had COVID-19. A 3-stage system of restorative treatment, indications and non-drug technologies of medical rehabilitation of such patients are shown.
AIM. To assess the current state of the health resort care for children in institutions subordinate to the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation.
CONCLUSION. In order to further improve the sanatorium treatment of children in institutions subordinate to the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation, there are of the necessity: a personalized approach to the development of sanatorium-treatment programs for children, an optimization of the II and III sanatorium stages of medical rehabilitation of children, an introduction of innovative technologies of medical rehabilitation of children in the practical activities of sanatoriums, an integration of research results into the practice of s-anatorium treatment of children and continuous professional development of specialists, working
in health resorts.
: Over the past few years, there has been a growing interest in sports activities. Scientists agree that this phenomenon is likely to be followed by an increased occurrence of related injuries. In ...order to better understand the nature of factors accompanying sports trauma, the authors of this paper decided to assess the individual and environmental factors leading to the decision to undergo rehabilitation. The aim was to identify causes and individual factors affecting the decision process to undergo rehabilitation and treatment effectiveness in athletes.
: The study was conducted based on a proprietary online questionnaire consisting of 46 questions using Microsoft Forms in a group of athletes. From October 25th to November 29th, 2020, a total of 581 questionnaires were collected from the respondents. Due to the lack of important data or conflicting information, 94 of those had to be withdrawn from the study. A total of 487 questionnaires were finally enrolled in the study. The analysis was carried out using Microsoft Excel and Statistica 13. Values of p < 0.05 were identified as statistically significant.
: The study group consisted of 487 questionnaires (n = 358 men, n = 129 women) with a Me age of the respondents of 21 years (Q1–Q3: 18–24) and body mass index (BMI) 22.9 kg/m
(21–25.6). We found a significant correlation between age and BMI, as respondents with lower values of BMI and age were characterised by a higher frequency of training sessions. At the same time, the need for picking up excessive training loads was associated with older respondents with higher BMI. A total of 91.4% of the respondents from the study group reported a past trauma (mostly men – 74.4%, p < 0.001). In our study, we did not find a relation between the sports discipline, type of employment, and the possibility of trauma. The percentage of injuries rose with the level of self-reported advancement of the respondents (beginners – 75%, medium advanced – 86%, advanced – 90%). The list of the most commonly reported causes of the trauma included actions of the opponent (n = 173), excessive training load (n = 118), and lack of concentration (n = 110). Out of 447 people that confirmed sustaining a sport-related trauma in the past, 47% (n = 207) reported using the help of a physiotherapist afterward. Physiotherapy (PT) use was more common among women than men (56% vs. 45% respectively, p = 0.045) and older subjects (Me: 22 years, Q1–Q3: 18–27 vs. Me: 20, Q1–Q3: 17–23; p = 0.001). It was also more popular among those with a stronger relation with sport (advanced, professionals; p < 0.001). An overall assessment of the effectiveness of PT was high, both in terms of its analgesic effect (Me: 8, Q1–Q3: 7–9) and functional recovery (Me: 9, Q1–Q3: 7–10). The highest score was identified for the analgesic effect of kinesiotherapy (p = 0.01).
: There is a need for education programmes highlighting the importance of PT in sports and its effectiveness in the treatment and prevention of sports trauma (specially in younger men with limited experience).
