Divided as it is, philology is constantly improving through the emergence of new interdisciplinary sciences. One among them is ethnolinguistics. It has taken particularly firm roots in Slavic ...studies, especially with the Russian and Polish schools. While the diachronous researches of Nikita I. Tolstoy in Svetlana Tolstaya reach as far back as Slavic mythology, the Polish school, headed by Jerzy Bartmińsky, flirts with cognitive linguistics and is more interested, through its synchronous approach, in contemporary themes. The present monograph aims to evaluate the work carried out in this field to date and to raise awareness of the new interdisciplinary direction, which may link up the ethnologies and linguistics of different directions.
Terraced landscapes with agricultural terraces are cultural landscapes with a special value. This volume presents them in pictures and words in all their diversity and attractiveness. After ...discussing the global and European dimensions of terraced landscapes and their agricultural terraces, the volume focuses on Slovenian terraced landscapes~they are discussed separately by landscape types, individual regions, and sample cases in the territory of selected settlements (pilot areas). The conclusion also draws attention to the exceptional value and appeal of non-agricultural terraced landscapes that have been shaped by nature and man.
Managing Cultural Heritage AreasComprehensive planning for cultural heritage areas must bring together social, cultural, economic, transport, and environmental aspects and promote active inclusion of ...various, and even conflicting, interest groups in a guided participatory process. In order for managers of such areas to best equip themselves with useful information, this book presents various topics that are important from the perspective of cultural heritage management: classification of cultural heritage, the role of UNESCO and its guidelines in protecting cultural heritage, and theoretical views on cultural heritage preservation. This is followed by a planning section, which presents environmental planning in areas with cultural heritage, the role of cultural heritage and protecting it, revitalization of old urban cores, and restoration of historical buildings and town centers.

The CHERPLAN project (CHERPLAN stands for “Enhancement of Cultural Heritage through Environmental Planning and Management”) aims to provide a strong basis for ensuring compatibility and synergy ...between cultural heritage conservation and socioeconomic growth by fostering the adoption of a modern environmental planning approach throughout southeast Europe (SEE). The aim of environmental planning is to integrate traditional urban/spatial planning with the concerns of environmentalism to ensure sustainable development~when innovatively applied to cultural heritage sites, environmental planning’s comprehensive perspective can be regarded as composed of three spheres: the built and historical environment, the socioeconomic and cultural environment, and the biophysical environment.
