En cette fin d’année, nous sommes très heureux d’offrir un numéro très spécial. Il porte sur la dimension créatrice de la traduction littéraire, inscrite « dans une relation, avec l’autre-auteur, ...avec la matière des langues et avec l’autre-lecteur » comme le disent, dans leur présentation, les trois chercheuses françaises qui dirigent le volume.
Sodobni grški avtor Níkos Panajotópulos je, čeprav po izobrazbi inženir, vsestranski ustvarjalec na področjih scenske in literarne umetnosti, okrog katerih se vrti vse njegovo poklicno življenje. ...Slovenskemu bralstvu se je doslej predstavil z romanom Gen za dvom, antiutopičnο pripovedjo o iznajdbi testa, ki naj bi s pomočjo znanosti v ljudeh odkrival gen za ustvarjanje umetnosti. Ta test postane orodje cenzure in represije umetnosti, saj dokazilo o prisotnosti gena šteje več kot umetniški izdelek ali talent. Gen za dvom je kot očitna družbena satira s primesjo avtobiografske motivike značilen za pisateljski slog Nikosa Panajotopulosa, ki je tematsko zelo moderen avtor, njegovi romani so vpeti v družbo tukaj in zdaj in vanjo usmerjajo kritični pogled, ne glede na to idejno podobnost pa so po snovi zelo raznoliki.
The essay explores how Meneghello translated some of Yeats’s poems into the dialect of Vicenza. Yeats’s compositions became a source of sustenance for the poet from Malo, offering profound insights ...into various aspects of life and art. Meneghello’s fascination with Yeats led him to undertake the translations of his works into the Vicentine dialect, resulting in the collection Trapianti, consisting of seventeen compositions by Yeats, and showcasing Meneghello’s skill in capturing the essence and rhythmic tension of the originals while infusing them with new life and meaning.
La variación lingüística es un fenómeno presente en casi todos los idiomas. Su interés para los estudios traductológicos es incuestionable. En el presente trabajo, pretendemos investigar cómo se ...resuelven los problemas que plantea la variación lingüística para la traducción literaria chino-español. Con tal objetivo, hemos elegido la obra La casa de té y sus dos versiones de español como corpus de análisis. Partiendo de la hipótesis de que en la traducción de los elementos de la variación lingüística de esta obra se recurre a la estandarización como solución traductora preferente, hemos analizado el corpus para obtener datos tanto cualitativos como cuantitativos. Los resultados nos permiten confirmar la hipótesis general, así como identificar las características específicas y problemas que presenta la traducción de la variación lingüística del chino al español.
This paper explores the evolving role of teachers and literary translators in the era of artificial intelligence and machine translation and addresses the challenges encountered in literary ...translation. It focuses on achieving a balance between human expertise and machine power to ensure faithful translations of literary works while preserving their inherent artistic value. The study analyses four translations of an excerpt from the short story “Lake Como” by Serbian writer Srđan Valjarević. These translations, from Serbian to English, were conducted in groups by third-year Anglistics students at the Faculty of Philology, Sinergija University in Bijeljina, whose native language is Serbian. The quality and accuracy of the translations were assessed, accompanied by detailed justifications of our preference judgments. A comparison was made between our assessments and those generated by Chat GPT-3, aiming to provide insights into the advancements made by AI in the realm of literary translation. This comprehensive evaluation of translations, encompassing both human translators and AI-powered language models (LLMs), offers a deeper understanding of the specific strengths and weaknesses exhibited by LLMs in the context of literary translation. Through this human evaluation process, we strive to shed light on the specific areas where LLM translators excel and identify the challenges they are still facing. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of AI's impact on literary translation and pave the way for future research and advancements in this area.
