The aim of this study is to investigate the extraction L-aspartic acid which is a hydrophobic amino acid with reverse micelle system. Production of amino acids by fermentation has been more important ...in recent years. These amino acids are obtained in dilute aqueous solutions and have to be separated from excess substrate, inorganic salts and by-products. Recently, separation of amino acids from fermentation media by reverse micelle extraction has received a great deal of attention. In this study, reverse micelle phase includes aliquat-336 as a surfactant, 1-decanol as a co-surfactant and isooctane as an apolar solvent. Experiments were performed at 150 rpm stirring rate, at 30 oC, for 30 min extraction time with equal volumes of reverse micelle and aqueous phases. Concentration of L-aspartic acid was analyzed by liquid chromatography (HPLC). The extraction yield increased with increasing pH and aliquat-336 concentration and with decreasing initial amino acid concentration. Maximum ekstraction yield (68 %) was obtained at pH of 12, surfactant concentration of 200 mM and an initial amino acid concentration of 5 mM.

The viscosity measurements of micelles composed of mixtures of anionic/nonionic surfactants were carried out as a function of the mole fraction of surfactants. The systems studied were sodium dodecyl ...sulfate (SDS)-polyoxyethylene lauryl ether ($C_{12}POE_n n$ = 4, 10 and 23) in water and 0.1 M sodium chloride solution. In the single systems, the relative viscosity of nonionic surfactant is greater than that of SDS, and increases with the increasing level of ethylene oxide. In the mixed surfactant systems, the relative viscosities vary at the mixed molar fraction of SDS, between 0.2 and 0.3, and then the relative viscosities of mixed systems decrease with the increasing mole fraction of SDS. The experimental values show a positive deviation from ideal behavior because of mixed micelle formation and the electroviscous effect. This effect could be suppressed by the addition of an electrolyte (NaCl).
pH changes as a function of concentration for sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) were observed by the addition of 1 N HCl and 1 N KOH. pH values increased up to ...the critical micellar concentration (CMC) for the SDS/HCl system and decreased for the DTAB/KOH system. In the SDS/HCl and DTAB/KOH systems, the micellar phase had a fixed composition and was homogeneous and monodisperse above the CMC. However, in the SDS/KOH and DTAB/HCl systems, pH values increased in a continuous and gradual manner below and above the CMC, and the properties of the micellar phase changed with temperature as a function of concentration, giving rise to inhomogeneity and polydispersity
In this study it was aimed to measure mycelia development period of Pleurotus spp. on wheat grain, as an alternative substrate to wheat grain, rye, corn and barley. According to results obtained in ...this study, the fastest development of P. ostreatus mycelium on rye grain (8 day) and the longest mycelia development on wheat grain (10.3 day) was measured. Similarity, we observed that the fastest development of P. sajur-caju mycelium on rye grain (9.3 day) and the longest mycelia development on wheat grain (16.4 day) was measured. Results indicated that rye was the most appropriate material both P. ostreatus and P. sajur-caju. Contamination problem on corn grain was observed. Therefore, it must be additional research in this material.
In this study, mycelia development and yield value of Pleurotus floridas on beech saw dust added with chicken manure, husk rice and turf of Bolu (Yeniçağa) (90 + 10; 80 + 20 w: w) were examined. ...According to results obtained from this study; the fastest mycelia development (17.2 day) and the highest yield value (372.20 gr/kg) from beech saw dust with added husk rice (80 + 20; w: w) substrate mixture were resulted. On the other hand, the slowest mycelia development (40.8 day) and the worst yield value (92.8 gr/kg) on beech saw dust with added chicken manure (80 + 20; w: w) were obtained. It was observed that generally increased rate of husk rice on substrate mixture effected mycelia development and yield property positively.
Bu çalışmada buğdaya alternatif olabilecek arpa, çavdar ve mısır gibi hububat danelerinde P. ostreatus ve P. sajur-caju türlerinde misellerin materyaller üzerindeki gelişimi gün olarak tespit ...edilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre P. ostreatus için çavdarda 8 gün ortalama ile en uygun sonucu elde ederken, buğdayda 10.3 gün ile en uzun süre elde edilmiştir. P. sajur-caju'da ise çavdarda 9.3 gün ortalama ile en uygun sonuç elde edilirken, buğdayda 16.4 gün ortalama ile en uzun süre elde edilmiştir. Her iki mantar türü için de çavdar en uygun sardırma materyali olmuştur. Çalışmada kullanılan mısırda görülen kontaminasyon problemi bu materyalle ilgili ilave çalışmalara gidilmesini zorunlu kılmaktadır.
